1

1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2Now the earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep. God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.
2 Ganda go mo batama koonu no kaŋ sinda alhaali, hari guusuyaŋo boŋ mo, kala kubay. Irikoy Biya mo goono ga yooje harey boŋ.
2And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters
3God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness.

5God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” There was evening and there was morning, one day.

5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
6God said, “Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

6And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.

7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8God called the expanse “sky.” There was evening and there was morning, a second day.
8 Irikoy na batama maa daŋ ka ne a se Beene. Wiciri kambu te, susubay mo te, jirbi hinkanta nooya.
8And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
9God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.
9 Irikoy ne: «Beene batama cire harey ma margu nangu folloŋ, ganda laabo mo ma bangay.» Yaadin mo no te.
9And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10God called the dry land “earth,” and the gathering together of the waters he called “seas.” God saw that it was good.
10 Irikoy na ganda batama maa daŋ Ndunnya. A na harey marganta mo maa daŋ Teeku. Irikoy di kaŋ woodin mo ga boori.
10And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
11God said, “Let the earth yield grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with its seed in it, on the earth”; and it was so.
11 Irikoy ne: «Subu nda tuuri izey kaŋ ga hay yaŋ mo ma fatta ka fun laabo ra, da tuuri-nyaŋey kaŋ ga izeyaŋ hay, wo kaŋ gonda gure, i afo kulu nga dumo boŋ.» Yaadin mo no laabo te.
11And God said, Let the earth put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, [and] fruit-trees bearing fruit after their kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth: and it was so.
12The earth yielded grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with its seed in it, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.

12And the earth brought forth grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, wherein is the seed thereof, after their kind: and God saw that it was good.
13There was evening and there was morning, a third day.

14God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years;
14 Irikoy ne: «Hayey kaŋ ga kaari ma te beene batama ra, hala fayyaŋ ma te cin da zaari game ra. I ma goro mo alaamayaŋ jiirey da jirbey da alwaatey se.
14And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years:
15and let them be for lights in the expanse of sky to give light on the earth”; and it was so.
15 I ma goro mo kaariyaŋ beene batama ra, ka te kaari ndunnya se.» Yaadin mo no te.
15and let them be for lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars.
16 Irikoy na kaari beeri hinka din te, ibambata ma may zaari, ikayna mo ma may cin. A na handariyayzey mo te.
16And God made the two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: [he made] the stars also.
17God set them in the expanse of sky to give light to the earth,
17 Irikoy n'i daŋ beene batama ra zama i ma kaari ndunnya boŋ,
17And God set them in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth,
18and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good.
18 i ma may cin da zaari, i ma kubay da kaari fay mo. Irikoy di kaŋ woodin mo ga boori.

19There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
19 Wiciri kambu te, susubay mo te, jirbi taacanta nooya.
19And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
20God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of sky.”
20 Irikoy ne: «Harey ma fundikooni boobo hay kaŋ ga yooje, wo kaŋ yaŋ gonda fundi. Curayzey mo ma deesi beene batama ra ndunnya se beene.»
20And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
21God created the large sea creatures, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good.
21 Irikoy na teeku ham bambatey mo taka, da fundikooni kulu kaŋ ga yooje, wo kaŋ yaŋ ga nyuturu-nyuturu harey ra, a n'i taka ngey dumey boŋ. A na curo kulu kaŋ ga deesi mo taka nga dumo boŋ. Irikoy di kaŋ woodin mo ga boori.
21And God created the great sea-monsters, and every living creature that moveth, wherewith the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind: and God saw that it was good.
22God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”
22 Irikoy n'i albarkandi ka ne: «Wa ize boobo hay ka baa ka tonton. Araŋ ma teekoy harey toonandi. Curayzey mo ma baa ka tonton ndunnya ra.»
22And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.
23There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
23 Wiciri kambu te, susubay mo te, jirbi guwanta nooya.
23And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
24God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures after their kind, livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind”; and it was so.
24 Irikoy ne: «Laabo mo ma baafunayaŋ hay, afo kulu nga dumo boŋ, kwaara almaney da wo kaŋ yaŋ ga ganda biri, da ndunnya ganji hamey ngey dumey boŋ.» Yaadin mo no ka te.
24And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind, cattle, and creeping things, and beasts of the earth after their kind: and it was so.
25God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good.
25 Irikoy na ganji hamey taka ngey dumey boŋ, kwaara almaney mo ngey dumey boŋ, da hay kulu kaŋ ga ganda biri laabo boŋ ngey dumey boŋ. Irikoy di kaŋ woodin mo ga boori.
25And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the ground after its kind: and God saw that it was good.
26God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.
27 Irikoy binde na boro taka nga alhaalo boŋ, Irikoy alhaalo ra no a n'i taka, alboro nda wayboro a n'i taka.
27And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
28 Irikoy n'i albarkandi mo. Irikoy ne i se: «Araŋ ma ize boobo hay ka baa ka tonton. Araŋ ma ndunnya may mo, araŋ ma teeku hamey may, da beene batama curayzey, da fundikooni kulu kaŋ ga nyooti ndunnya boŋ.»
28And God blessed them: and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
29God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.
29 Irikoy ne mo: «Guna, ay n'araŋ no tuurey kulu kaŋ ga ize hay, kaŋ yaŋ go ndunnya fando kulu boŋ, da tuuri-nya kulu kaŋ ga ize hay mo kaŋ gonda gure. I ga ciya araŋ se ŋwaari.
29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food:
30To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.

30and to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the heavens, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, [I have given] every green herb for food: and it was so.
31God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.
31 Irikoy na hay kulu kaŋ nga te guna, i go mo, i kulu ga boori gumo. Wiciri kambu te, susubay mo te, jirbi iddanta nooya.
31And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
