Genesis

3

1Now the serpent was more subtle than any animal of the field which Yahweh God had made. He said to the woman, “Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat of any tree of the garden?’”
1 Amma gondi waani hiila ka bisa almaney kulu kaŋ Rabbi Irikoy te. A ne waybora se: «Haba? cimi no kaŋ Irikoy ne araŋ ma si ŋwa tuuri-nya kulu gaa kaŋ go kalo ra?»
1Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden?
2The woman said to the serpent, “Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat,
2 Waybora tu ka ne a se: «Kalo tuuri-nyaŋey, i yadda iri se iri m'i ŋwa.
2And the woman said unto the serpent, Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat:
3but of the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’”
3 Amma tuuri-nyaŋo kaŋ go kalo bindo ra izey, Irikoy ne: ‹Araŋ ma s'i ŋwa, araŋ ma s'i ham mo, zama araŋ ma si bu se.› »
3but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4The serpent said to the woman, “You won’t surely die,
4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5for God knows that in the day you eat it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
5 Zama Irikoy bay zaari kaŋ araŋ ŋwa a gaa, araŋ moy ga feeri hal araŋ ga ciya danga Irikoy cine, ka hari hanno nda hari laalo bay.»
5for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil.
6When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit, and ate; and she gave some to her husband with her, and he ate.
6 Waato kaŋ waybora di kaŋ tuuri-nyaŋo ga kaan ŋwaari se, a gunayaŋ ga boori mo gaa, tuuri-nya kaŋ ga beejandi mo no laakal nooyaŋ se, kala waybora kaa a izey ga ka ŋwa. A no nga kurnyo mo se, kaŋ go a jarga, nga mo ŋwa.
6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and she gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat.
7The eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked. They sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
7 I boro hinka moy fiti. I bay kaŋ ngey go gaa-koonu. I na jeejay* kobtoyaŋ taa care gaa, ka haw ngey cantey gaa.
7And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8They heard the voice of Yahweh God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Yahweh God among the trees of the garden.
8 Kal i maa Rabbi Irikoy jinde kaŋ goono ga windi kalo ra wiciri kambu haray. Adamu nda nga wando tugu Irikoy se kalo tuuri-nyaŋey ra.
8And they heard the voice of Jehovah God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Jehovah God amongst the trees of the garden.
9Yahweh God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”
9 Amma Rabbi Irikoy na Adamu ce ka ne a se: «Man no ni go?»
9And Jehovah God called unto the man, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10The man said, “I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
10 Albora tu a se ka ne: «Ay maa ni jinda no kalo ra. Ay mo humburu, zama ay go gaa-koonu, woodin se no ay tugu.»
10And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11God said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
11 Rabbi Irikoy mo ne a se: «May ka ci ni se ka ne koonu no ni go? Ngo, manti tuuri-nyaŋo kaŋ ay ne ni ma si ŋwa gaa no ni ŋwa?»
11And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”
12 Albora ne: «Waybora kaŋ ni daŋ a ma goro ay banda, nga no k'ay no tuuri-nyaŋo gaa, ay mo ŋwa.»
12And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13Yahweh God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
Waybora mo ne: «Gondo no k'ay darandi, ay mo ŋwa.»
13And Jehovah God said unto the woman, What is this thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14Yahweh God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed above all livestock, and above every animal of the field. On your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.
Kusa no ni ga ŋwa mo, kala ni fundo me.
14And Jehovah God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, cursed art thou above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”
15 Ay ga ibaretaray daŋ mo nin da waybora game ra, ni hayyaŋo d'a hayyaŋo game ra. A ga ni boŋo tutubu, ni mo g'a maray ce kondo gaa.»
15and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16To the woman he said, “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth. In pain you will bear children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”
16 A ne waybora mo se: «Ay ga ni taabandi nda ni te gunde, hay-zaŋay ra no ni ga hay. Ni miila kulu mo ga ye ni kurnyo kambe ra, a ga ni may mo.»
16Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy pain and thy conception; in pain thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17To Adam he said, “Because you have listened to your wife’s voice, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground for your sake. In toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.
17 A ne Adamu mo se: «Zama ni na ni wande sanni ta, hala ni ŋwa tuuri-nyaŋo gaa kaŋ ay na ni no hin sanni ka ne: ‹Ni ma si ŋwa a gaa,› A se no i ga laabo laali ni sabbay se. Kala nda ni taabi, gaa no ni ga du ka ŋwaari kaa a ra, ni fundo muudu.
17And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in toil shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18It will yield thorns and thistles to you; and you will eat the herb of the field.
Saajo kobtey mo, ni g'i ŋwa.
18thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19By the sweat of your face will you eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
19in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
20The man called his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
20 Adamu na nga wando maa daŋ Hawa, zama nga no ga ti boro kulu nya.
20And the man called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
21Yahweh God made coats of skins for Adam and for his wife, and clothed them.
21And Jehovah God made for Adam and for his wife coats of skins, and clothed them.
22Yahweh God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand, and also take of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever...”
22And Jehovah God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever-
23Therefore Yahweh God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.
23 Woodin sabbay se no Rabbi Irikoy n'a gaaray a ma fun Eden kalo ra, a ma koy ka laabo far, haya kaŋ gaa i n'a kaa.
23therefore Jehovah God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24So he drove out the man; and he placed Cherubs at the east of the garden of Eden, and the flame of a sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
24 Yaadin no a na Adamu gaaray d'a ka ciiti malaykayaŋ* daŋ Eden kalo se wayna funay haray. I gonda takubayaŋ kaŋ ga ciray danga danji, i ga nyaale mo. I ga faara kuray kulu ka fundi tuuri-nyaŋo fonda kosaray.
24So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden the Cherubim, and the flame of a sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
