1葡萄樹的比喻耶和華的話臨到我說：
1The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
2“人子啊！葡萄樹的木料怎能勝過樹林中的枝子呢？
2Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, the vine-branch which is among the trees of the forest?
3人可以從葡萄樹上取木料製造物件嗎？可以從葡萄樹上取木料做釘子掛器皿嗎？
3Shall wood be taken of it to make any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?
4看哪！已經拋在火裡當作燃料，火既燒毀了兩端，連中間也燒焦了，它還可以用來製造物件嗎？
4Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire has devoured both its ends, and its midst is burned: is it profitable for any work?
5看哪！它完整的時候，尚且不能用來製造物件，何況它被火燒毀和燒焦了，它還能用來做甚麼呢？”
5Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less, when the fire has devoured it, and it is burned, shall it yet be meet for any work!
6因此，主耶和華這樣說：“我怎樣把樹林中的葡萄樹拋在火裡當作燃料，也必照樣對待耶路撒冷的居民。
6Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7我必變臉攻擊他們；他們雖然從火裡逃出來，火仍要吞滅他們；我變臉攻擊他們的時候，你們就知道我是耶和華。
7I will set my face against them; they shall go forth from the fire, but the fire shall devour them; and you shall know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them.
8我必使這地荒涼，因為他們行了不忠的事。這是主耶和華的宣告。”
8I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, says the Lord Yahweh.
