1以色列的罪惡與僕人的順服耶和華這樣說：“我離棄了你們的母親，休書在哪裡呢？或者我的債主中，哪一個是我把你們賣了給他的呢？看哪！你們被賣是因你們的罪孽；你們的母親被離棄是因你們的過犯。
1Thus says Yahweh, “Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, with which I have put her away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities were you sold, and for your transgressions was your mother put away.
2為甚麼我來的時候，沒有人在呢？為甚麼我呼喚的時候，沒有人答應呢？難道我的手太軟弱不能救贖嗎？或是我沒有能力拯救嗎？看哪！我以斥責使海乾涸，我使江河變成曠野，江河的魚因無水發臭，因乾渴而死。
2Why, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it can’t redeem? or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink, because there is no water, and die for thirst.
3我使諸天以黑暗為衣服，以麻布作它們的遮蓋。”
3I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.”
4主耶和華賜給了我一個受教者的舌頭，使我知道怎樣用言語扶助疲乏的人；主每天清晨喚醒我，他每天清晨喚醒我的耳朵，使我能像受教者一樣靜聽。
4The Lord Yahweh has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words him who is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.
5主耶和華開啟了我的耳朵，我並沒有違抗，也沒有後退。
5The Lord Yahweh has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away backward.
6我把我的背給打我的人打，把我的腮頰給拔我鬍鬚的人拔；我並沒有掩面躲避人的羞辱和人的唾液。
6I gave my back to the strikers, and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair; I didn’t hide my face from shame and spitting.
7但主耶和華必幫助我，所以我必不羞愧，因此我板著臉好像堅硬的燧石，我也知道我必不會蒙羞。
7For the Lord Yahweh will help me; therefore I have not been confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be disappointed.
8那稱我為義的，與我相近；誰與我爭訟呢？讓我們一同站起來吧！誰是指控我的？讓他就近我來。
8He is near who justifies me; who will bring charges against me? Let us stand up together: who is my adversary? Let him come near to me.
9看哪！主耶和華幫助我，誰能定我有罪呢？看哪！他們都要像衣服漸漸破舊，蛀蟲必把他們吃光。
9Behold, the Lord Yahweh will help me; who is he who shall condemn me? Behold, all they shall wax old as a garment, the moth shall eat them up.
10你們中間誰是敬畏耶和華，聽從他僕人的聲音的？誰是行在黑暗中，沒有亮光的呢？他該倚靠耶和華的名，依賴他的 神。
10Who is among you who fears Yahweh, who obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light, let him trust in the name of Yahweh, and rely on his God.
11看哪！你們點火的，用火把圍繞自己的，都行在你們火燄的光裡，都走在你們所燃點的火把中吧！這是你們從我手裡所要得的：你們必躺臥在痛苦之中。
11Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who adorn yourselves with torches around yourselves; walk in the flame of your fire, and among the brands that you have kindled. You shall have this of my hand; you shall lie down in sorrow.
