1西羅非哈之眾女兒屬約瑟的兒子瑪拿西的各家族，有瑪拿西的玄孫、瑪吉的曾孫、基列的孫子、希弗的兒子西羅非哈的女兒，名叫瑪拉、挪阿、曷拉、密迦、得撒；她們前來，
1Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
2站在會幕門口，在摩西和以利亞撒祭司、眾領袖和全體會眾面前，說：
2They stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the Tent of Meeting, saying,
3“我們的父親死在曠野，他並不是在那聚集攻擊耶和華的人之中，不屬可拉一黨的人；他死在自己的罪中，只是他沒有兒子。
3“Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against Yahweh in the company of Korah: but he died in his own sin; and he had no sons.
4為甚麼因為我們的父親沒有兒子，就把他的名從他的家族中除掉呢？求你在我們父親的兄弟中，給我們產業。”
4Why should the name of our father be taken away from among his family, because he had no son? Give to us a possession among the brothers of our father.”
5於是摩西就把她們的案件呈到耶和華面前。
5Moses brought their cause before Yahweh.
6耶和華對摩西說：
6Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
7“西羅非哈的女兒說得有理，你一定要在她們父親的兄弟中，給她們產業，要把她們父親的產業給她們。
7“The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: you shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers; and you shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.
8你也要告訴以色列人說：‘一個人死時，如果沒有兒子，就要使他的產業歸給他的女兒。
8You shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies, and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.
9如果他沒有女兒，就要把他的產業給他的兄弟。
9If he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.
10如果他沒有兄弟，就要把他的產業給他父系的兄弟。
10If he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.
11如果他父親沒有兄弟，你們就要把他的產業給他家族中最近的親屬，那人就要得他的產業。這要作以色列人的律例、典章，是照著耶和華吩咐摩西的。’”
11If his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his kinsman who is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be to the children of Israel a statute and ordinance, as Yahweh commanded Moses.’”
12約書亞承繼摩西的職位（申31:1~8）耶和華吩咐摩西說：“你要上這亞巴琳山去，看看我賜給以色列人的地。
12Yahweh said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the children of Israel.
13看了以後，你也必歸到你的本族那裡去，像你哥哥亞倫歸去一樣。
13When you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered;
14因為在尋的曠野，會眾爭鬧的時候，你們違背了我的命令，沒有在湧水之地，在會眾眼前尊我為聖。”
14because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the waters before their eyes.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)
15摩西對耶和華說：
15Moses spoke to Yahweh, saying,
16“願耶和華萬人之靈的 神，立一個人治理會眾，
16“Let Yahweh, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,
17可以在他們面前出入；帶領他們出入，免得耶和華的會眾好像沒有牧人的羊一樣。”
17who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of Yahweh not be as sheep which have no shepherd.”
18耶和華對摩西說：“你要揀選嫩的兒子約書亞，他心裡有聖靈，你要按手在他頭上，
18Yahweh said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;
19叫他站在以利亞撒祭司和全體會眾面前，當他們的面委派他。
19and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and commission him in their sight.
20你要把你的尊榮給他幾分，好叫以色列全體會眾都聽從他。
20You shall put of your honor on him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may obey.
21他要站在以利亞撒祭司面前，以利亞撒要藉著烏陵的判斷，在耶和華面前為他求問；他和以色列眾人，就是全體會眾，都要按著以利亞撒的命令出入。”
21He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Yahweh: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.”
22於是，摩西照著耶和華吩咐他的去行；他把約書亞領來，叫他站在以利亞撒祭司和全體會眾面前，
22Moses did as Yahweh commanded him; and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:
23按手在他頭上，委派他，是照著耶和華藉摩西吩咐的。
23and he laid his hands on him, and commissioned him, as Yahweh spoke by Moses.
