¹“我把这些事告诉了你们，使你们不致后退。

¹ “These things have I spoken to you, so that you wouldn’t be caused to stumble.

²人要把你们赶出会堂；并且时候要到，所有要杀害你们的人，以为这样就是事奉　神。

² They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time comes that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.

³他们要作这些事，因为他们不认识父，也不认识我。

³ They will do these things TR adds “to you” because they have not known the Father, nor me.

⁴我把这些事告诉了你们，让你们到了那个时候，可以想起我告诉过你们了。我起初没有把这些事告诉你们，因为我跟你们在一起。

⁴ But I have told you these things, so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I didn’t tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.

⁵圣灵的工作“现在我要到那差我来的那里去，你们中间并没有人问：‘你到哪里去？’

⁵ But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’

⁶然而因为我把这些事告诉了你们，你们心里就充满忧愁。

⁶ But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.

⁷但我要把实情告诉你们，我去是对你们有益的。如果我不去，保惠师就不会到你们这里来；我若去了，就会差他到你们这里来。

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

⁸他来了，就要在罪、在义、在审判各方面指证世人的罪。

⁸ When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;

⁹在罪方面，是因为他们不信我；

⁹ about sin, because they don’t believe in me;

¹⁰在义方面，是因为我到父那里去，你们就再看不见我；

¹⁰ about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you won’t see me any more;

¹¹在审判方面，是因为这世界的统治者已经受了审判。

¹¹ about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.

¹²“我还有许多事要告诉你们，可是你们现在担当不了；

¹² “I have yet many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.

¹³只等真理的灵来了，他要引导你们进入一切真理。他不是凭着自己说话，而是把他听见的都说出来，并且要把将来的事告诉你们。

¹³ However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.

¹⁴他要荣耀我，因为他要把从我那里所领受的告诉你们。

¹⁴ He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.

¹⁵父所有的一切，都是我的；所以我说，他要把从我那里所领受的告诉你们。

¹⁵ All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes TR reads “will take” instead of “takes” of mine, and will declare it to you.

¹⁶你们的忧愁要变为喜乐“不久，你们不会再看见我；再过不久，你们还要看见我。”

¹⁶ A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”

¹⁷于是他的门徒中有几个彼此说：“他对我们说：‘不久，你们不会看见我；再过不久，你们还要看见我。’又说：‘因为我到父那里去。’这是什么意思呢？”

¹⁷Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and, ‘Because I go to the Father?’ ”

¹⁸他们又说：“他所说的‘不久’，是什么意思呢？我们不晓得他在讲什么。”

¹⁸They said therefore, “What is this that he says, ‘A little while?’ We don’t know what he is saying.”

¹⁹耶稣知道他们想问他，就说：“我所说的‘不久，你们不会看见我；再过不久，你们还要看见我’，你们为了这话彼此议论吗？

¹⁹Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, “Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?’

²⁰我实实在在告诉你们，你们要痛哭哀号，世人却要欢喜；你们要忧愁，但你们的忧愁要变为喜乐。

²⁰ Most certainly I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

²¹妇人生产的时候会有忧愁，因为她的时候到了；但生了孩子以后，就不再记住那痛苦了，因为欢喜有一个人生到世上来。

²¹ A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow, because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn’t remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.

²²现在你们也有忧愁；但我要再见你们，你们的心就会喜乐，你们的喜乐是没有人能够夺去的。

²² Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

²³到了那天，你们什么也不会问我了。我实实在在告诉你们，你们奉我的名无论向父求什么，他必定赐给你们。

²³ “In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

²⁴你们向来没有奉我的名求什么；现在你们祈求，就必定得着，让你们的喜乐满溢。

²⁴ Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.

²⁵耶稣已经胜过世界“我用譬喻对你们说了这些事，时候要到，我不再用譬喻对你们说了，而是把关于父的事明明白白告诉你们。

²⁵ I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.

²⁶到了那天，你们要奉我的名祈求，我不是说我要为你们请求父；

²⁶ In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you,

²⁷父自己爱你们，因为你们已经爱我，并且信我是从　神那里来的。

²⁷ for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God.

²⁸我从父那里来，到了这世界；我又离开这世界，到父那里去。”

²⁸ I came out from the Father, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.”

²⁹门徒说：“你看，现在你是明说，不是用譬喻说了。

²⁹His disciples said to him, “Behold, now you speak plainly, and speak no figures of speech.

³⁰现在我们知道你是无所不知的，不需要人向你发问。因此，我们信你是从　神那里来的。”

³⁰Now we know that you know all things, and don’t need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came forth from God.”

³¹耶稣对他们说：“现在你们信吗？

³¹Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?

³²看哪，时候要到，而且已经到了，你们要分散，各人到自己的地方去，只留下我独自一个人。其实我不是独自一个人，因为有父与我同在。

³² Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

³³我把这些事告诉你们，是要使你们在我里面有平安。在世上你们有患难，但你们放心，我已经胜了这世界。”

³³ I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
