¹Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

¹Si Pablo, tinawag nga apostol ni Jesucristo, pinaagi sa kabubut-on sa Dios, ug si Sostenes nga atong igsoon,

²Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:

²Alang sa iglesia sa Dios nga anaa sa Corinto, kanila nga mga ginabalaan kang Cristo Jesus, sa mga ginganlan nga balaan, uban sa tanan nga nanagtawag sa tanang dapit sa ngalan sa atong Ginoong Jesucristo ilang Ginoo ug ato usab:

³Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

³Ang gracia kaninyo, ug ang pakigdait nga gikan sa Dios, nga atong Amahan, ug sa Ginoong Jesucristo.

⁴I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

⁴Nagapasalamat ako gihapon sa akong Dios mahitungod kaninyo, tungod sa gracia sa Dios, nga gihatag kaninyo diha kang Cristo Jesus;

⁵That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

⁵Kay kaniya gipanagdato kamo sa tanan nga butang: sa tanan nga pulong ug sa tanan nga kahibalo;

⁶Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

⁶Maingon nga ang pagpamatuod ni Cristo napalig-on diha kaninyo;

⁷So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

⁷Sa pagkaagi nga walay nakulang kaninyo sa mga hiyas, nga nagahulat sa pagpadayag sa atong Ginoong Jesucristo;

⁸Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁸Nga magapalig-on usab kaninyo hangtud sa katapusan, aron kamo dili mabadlonganon sa adlaw sa atong Ginoong Jesucristo.

⁹God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁹Matinumanon ang Dios nga pinaagi kaniya gitawag kamo ngadto sa pagpakig-ambit sa iyang Anak nga si Jesucristo nga atong Ginoo.

¹⁰Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

¹⁰Karon nagatambag ako kaninyo, mga igsoon, pinaagi sa ngalan sa atong Ginoong Jesucristo, nga managsulti kamong tanan ug usa lamang ka butang, ug nga sa inyong taliwala wala unta ing mga pagkabahinbahin; kondili mamahingpit kamo sa usa ka hunahuna, ug sa usa ka pagsabut.

¹¹For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

¹¹Kay ginapahibalo kanako sa mga sakup sa panimalay ni Cloe mahatungod kaninyo, mga igsoon ko, nga may paglalisay diha kaninyo.

¹²Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

¹²Ug ang buot ko ipasabut mao kini, nga ang tagsatagsa kaninyo nagaingon: Ako iya ni Pablo; ug ako iya ni Apolo; ug ako iya ni Cefas; ug ako iya ni Cristo.

¹³Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

¹³Nabahin ba si Cristo? Gilansang ba sa cruz si Pablo alang kaninyo? kun, Gibautismohan ba kamo sa ngalan ni Pablo?

¹⁴I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;

¹⁴Nagapasalamat ako sa akong Dios kay ako wala magbautismo kang bisan kinsa, gawas kang Crispo ug kang Gayo;

¹⁵Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.

¹⁵Aron walay bisan kinsa nga mag-ingon nga gibautismohan kamo sa akong ngalan.

¹⁶And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

¹⁶Ug gibautismohan ko usab ang panimalay ni Estefanas: apan ako wala mahibalo kong nakabautismo ba ako ug uban.

¹⁷For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

¹⁷Kay ako wala pagsugoa ni Cristo sa pagbautismo, kondili sa pagwali sa Maayong Balita, dili sa maalamon nga mga pulong, aron dili mawalay pulos ang cruz ni Cristo.

¹⁸For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

¹⁸Kay ang pulong sa cruz alang kanila nga nagakawala, binuang; apan alang kanato nga mga ginaluwas, mao ang gahum sa Dios.

¹⁹For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

¹⁹Kay nahasulat na: Pagalaglagon ko ang kaalam sa mga maalam, ug pagawagtangon ko ang kahibalo sa mga masinabuton.

²⁰Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

²⁰Hain na man ang maalam? Hain na ang escriba? Hain na man ang mag-lalantugi niining panahona sa kalibutan? Wala ba pagpakabuanga sa Dios ang kaalam sa kalibutan?

²¹For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

²¹Kay sa pagtan-aw nga diha sa kaalam sa Dios, ang kalibutan pinaagi sa iyang kaalam wala makaila sa Dios, gikahamut-an sa Dios ang pagluwas niadtong mga nagatoo, pinaagi sa kabuangan sa pagwali.

²²For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

²²Tungod kay ang mga Judio nagapangayo ug mga ilhanan, ug ang mga Greciahanon nagapangita ug kaalam:

²³But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

²³Apan ginawali nato si Cristo nga gilansang sa cruz, nga alang sa mga Judio usa ka kapangdolanan, ug alang sa mga Gentil, kabuangan;

²⁴But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

²⁴Apan alang sa mga tinawag mga Judio ug mga Greciahanon usab, si Cristo mao ang gahum sa Dios ug ang kaalam sa Dios.

²⁵Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

²⁵Kay ang kabuangan sa Dios labi pang maalam kay sa mga tawo, ug ang kaluyahon sa Dios labi pang kusganon kay sa mga tawo.

²⁶For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

²⁶Kay tan-awa ninyo ang inyong pagkatinawag, mga igsoon, nga dili daghan ang mga maalam sumala sa unod, dili daghan ang mga gamhanan, dili daghan ang mga dungganan, ang mga gitawag:

²⁷But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

²⁷Apan gipili sa Dios ang mga butang binuang sa kalibutan, aron niya mapakaulawan ang mga maalam; ug gipili sa Dios ang mga maluya sa kalibutan, aron siya makapakaulaw sa mga butang nga kusganon;

²⁸And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

²⁸Ug ang mga butang nga ubos sa kalibutan ug ang mga butang nga tinamay maoy gipili sa Dios; ug ang mga butang nga wala magalungtad, sa pagpawala sa mga butang nga nagalungtad;

²⁹That no flesh should glory in his presence.

²⁹Aron walay unod nga mangandak sa atubangan sa Dios.

³⁰But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

³⁰Apan gikan kaniya, anaa kamo kang Cristo Jesus, nga alang kanato gihimo nga kaalam gikan sa Dios, ug pagkamatarung, ug pagkabalaan ug pagtubos;

³¹That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

³¹Aron nga, sumala sa nahasulat na: Kadtong magahimaya, pahimayaa siya diha sa Ginoo.
