¹Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

¹Karon kini mao ang mga nasud nga gibilin ni Jehova aron sa pagsulay sa Israel pinaagi kanila, bisan ingon sa gidaghanon sa Israel nga wala mahibalo sa tanang mga gubat sa Canaan;

²Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;

²Aron lamang nga ang mga kaliwatan sa mga anak sa Israel mahibalo sa pagtudlo kanila sa gubat, bisan niadtong sa unang panahon walay nanghibalo bisan unsa mahitungod niini:

³Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath.

³Nga mao ang lima ka mga pangulo sa mga Philistehanon, ug sa tanang mga Canaanhon, ug sa mga Sidohihanon, ug sa mga Hebehanon nga nanagpuyo sa bukid sa Libano, sukad sa bukid sa Baal-hermon ngadto sa agianan sa pagsulod sa Hamath.

⁴And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

⁴Ug sila gibilin sa pagsulay sa Israel pinaagi kanila, aron sa paghibalo kong sila manimati sa mga sugo ni Jehova, nga iyang gisugo sa ilang mga amahan pinaagi kang Moises.

⁵And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:

⁵Ug ang mga anak sa Israel nanagpuyo sa taliwala sa mga Canaanhon, sa mga Hetehanon, ug sa mga Amorehanon, ug sa mga Peresehanon, ug sa mga Hebehanon, ug sa mga Jebusehanon.

⁶And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

⁶Ug sila mikuha sa ilang mga anak nga babaye nga ilang gipangasawa, ug gihatag nila ang ilang kaugalingong mga anak nga babaye sa ilang mga anak nga lalake ug nanag-alagad sa ilang mga dios.

⁷And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.

⁷Ug ang mga anak sa Israel nanaghimo niadtong dautan sa mga mata ni Jehova, ug nahikalimut kang Jehova nga ilang Dios, ug nanag-alagad sa mga Baal ug sa mga Asherim.

⁸Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years.

⁸Tungod niini ang kasuko ni Jehova misilaub batok sa Israel, ug iyang gibaligya sila ngadto sa kamot ni Chusan-risathaim, hari sa Mesopotamia: ug ang mga anak sa Israel nag-alagad kang Chusan-risathaim sa walo ka tuig.

⁹And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.

⁹Ug sa diha nga ang mga anak sa Israel mingtu-aw ngadto kang Jehova, si Jehova nagpatindog ug usa ka manluluwas sa mga anak sa Israel, nga nagluwas kanila, nga mao si Othoniel, ang anak nga lalake ni Cenez, ang manghud nga lalake ni Caleb.

¹⁰And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.

¹⁰Ug ang Espiritu ni Jehova mikunsad kaniya, ug siya namaghuhukom sa Israel; ug siya miadto sa pagpakiggubat, ug si Jehova nagtugyan kang Chusan-risathaim, hari sa Mesopotamia, ngadto sa iyang kamot ug ang iyang kamot nakadaug batok kang Chusan-risathaim.

¹¹And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

¹¹Ug ang yuta nakapahulay sa kap-atan ka tuig. Ug si Othoniel ang anak nga lalake ni Cenez namatay.

¹²And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.

¹²Ug ang mga anak sa Israel naghimo pag-usab niadtong dautan sa mga mata ni Jehova: ug si Jehova nagpalig-on kang Eglon, ang hari sa Moab batok sa Israel, tungod kay naghimo sila niadtong dautan sa panan-aw ni Jehova.

¹³And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.

¹³Ug siya nagtigum ngadto kaniya sa mga anak sa Ammon ug ni Amalec; ug iyang giadto ug gihampak ang Israel ug ilang naagaw ang ciudad sa mga palma.

¹⁴So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.

¹⁴Ug ang mga anak sa Israel nag-alagad kang Eglon, ang hari sa Moab napulo ug walo ka tuig.

¹⁵But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.

¹⁵Apan sa diha nga ang mga anak sa Israel mingtu-aw ngadto kang Jehova, si Jehova nagpatindog kanila ug usa ka manluluwas, si Aod, ang anak nga lalake ni Gera, ang Benjamitanhon usa ka tawo nga walhon. Ug ang mga anak sa Israel nagpadala ug buhis ngadto kang Eglon, ang hari sa Moab pinaagi kaniya.

¹⁶But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.

¹⁶Ug si Aod nagbuhat alang kaniya usa ka pinuti nga may duha ka sulab, usa ka maniko ang gitas-on; ug iyang gitakin kini sa ilalum sa iyang saput sa toong hawak.

¹⁷And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.

¹⁷Ug siya nagtanyag sa buhis ngadto kang Eglon, hari sa Moab: karon si Eglon maoy usa ka matambok kaayo nga tawo.

¹⁸And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.

¹⁸Ug sa diha nga siya nakatapus na sa paghatag sa buhis, iyang gipapahawa ang katawohan nga nagdala sa buhis.

¹⁹But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.

¹⁹Apan siya sa iyang kaugalingon mitalikod gikan sa mga larawan nga didto sa Gilgal, ug miingon: Ako dunay usa ka tinago nga sugo alang kanimo, Oh hari. Ug siya miingon: Paghilum. Ug ang tanan nga nagatindog duol kaniya namahawa gikan kaniya.

²⁰And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlor, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.

²⁰Ug si Aod miadto kaniya; ug siya naglingkod nga walay uban diha sa mabugnaw nga lawak nga diha sa itaas. Ug si Aod miingon: Ako adunay usa ka mensaje gikan sa Dios nganha kanimo. Ug siya mitindog gikan sa iyang lingkoranan.

²¹And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:

²¹Ug si Aod mibakyaw sa iyang walang kamot, ug gikuha ang pinuti gikan sa iyang toong hawak, ug gidunggab sa iyang lawas:

²²And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.

²²Ug ang puloan usab naipo sunod sa sulab; ug ang tambok mitabon sa sulab kay wala man niya ibta ang pinuti sa iyang lawas; ug kini milapus sa likod.

²³Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlor upon him, and locked them.

²³Unya si Aod miadto ngadto sa pantawan ug gitakpan ang mga pultahan sa lawak sa itaas tungod kaniya ug giyawihan kini.

²⁴When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlor were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.

²⁴Karon sa diha nga nakagula na siya ang iyang mga sulogoon ming-abut; ug ilang nakita, ug ania karon, ang mga pultahan sa kinatas-ang lawak giyawihan; ug sila miingon: Sa pagkatinuod siya nagatabon sa iyang mga tiil sa kinatas-ang lawak.

²⁵And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlor; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.

²⁵Ug sila naghulat hangtud nga sila nangalibog; ug ania karon, wala niya ablihi ang mga pultahan sa kinatas-ang lawak; sa ingon niana ilang gikuha ang yawi ug giablihan kini, ug ania karon, ang ilang agalon napukan nga patay sa yuta.

²⁶And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.

²⁶Ug si Aod mikalagiw sa diha nga sila naghunong pa, ug miagi sa likod sa mga larawan, ug mikalagiw ngadto sa Seirata.

²⁷And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.

²⁷Ug nahitabo sa diha nga nahiabut siya, nga siya mihuyop ug usa ka trompeta didto sa kabungtoran sa Ephraim: ug ang mga anak sa Israel minglugsong uban kaniya gikan sa kabungtoran, ug siya ang nag-una kanila.

²⁸And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.

²⁸Ug siya miingon kanila: Sumunod kamo kanako: kay si Jehova naghatag sa inyong mga kaaway ang Moabihanon nganha sa inyong kamot. Ug sila minglugsong nunot kaniya ug ilang gikuha ang mga labanganan sa Jordan batok sa mga Moabihanon, ug walay bisan kinsa nga tawo gipatabok.

²⁹And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valor; and there escaped not a man.

²⁹Ug sa ilang gipatay nga mga Moabihanon niadtong panahona may napulo ka libo ka tawo, ang tanan nga mga supang, ug ang tanang mga tawo nga maisug; ug walay usa ka tawo nga nakagawas.

³⁰So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.

³⁰Busa ang Moab gidaug niadtong adlawa ilalum sa kamot sa Israel. Ug ang yuta nakapahulay kawaloan ka tuig.

³¹And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.

³¹Ug sunod kaniya mao si Shamgar, ang anak nga lalake ni Anath; nga nakamatay sa mga Philistehanon unom ka gatus ka tawo pinaagi sa usa ka igtutugsok sa vaca: ug siya usab nagluwas sa Israel.
