¹And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,

¹Ug nahitabo nga, sa usa sa mga adlaw, sa nagatudlo siya sa mga tawo sulod sa templo, ug nagawali sa Maayong Balita, dihay mingduol kaniya, ang mga pangulong sacerdote ug ang mga escriba uban ang mga anciano.

²And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?

²Ug sila mingsulti nga nagaingon kaniya: Saysayi kami, tungod sa unsa nga pagbulot-an nagabuhat ikaw niining mga butanga? kun kinsa man ang naghatag kanimo niining pagbulot-an?

³And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:

³Ug siya mitubag ug miingon kanila: Ako usab mangutana kaninyo ug usa ka pangutana, ug saysayi ako:

⁴The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?

⁴Ang bautismo ni Juan, gikan ba sa langit, kun gikan sa mga tawo?

⁵And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

⁵Ug sila nagatolotimbang sa ilang kaugalingon nga nagaingon: Kong mag-ingon kita, gikan sa langit, magaingon siya: Ngano man nga wala ninyo siya pagtoohi?

⁶But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

⁶Apan kong mag-ingon kita, gikan sa mga tawo; ang tanang mga tawo magabato kanato; kay natino sila nga si Juan maoy usa ka manalagna.

⁷And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.

⁷Ug sila mingtubag nga wala nila hibaloi kong diin gikan.

⁸And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

⁸Ug si Jesus miingon kanila: Ako usab dili magasaysay kaninyo kong sa unsa nga pagbulot-an ginahimo ko kining mga butanga.

⁹Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.

⁹Ug misugod siya sa pagsulti sa katawohan niini nga sambingay: Usa ka tawo nakatanum ug usa ka parrasan, ug gipaabangan niya kini sa mga mag-uuma, ug milangyaw siya sa laing yuta sa hataas nga panahon.

¹⁰And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

¹⁰Ug sa tingbunga gipaadtoan niya ug usa ka ulipon ang mga mag-uuma aron siya pagahatagan nila sa bunga sa parrasan; apan gihampak siya sa mga mag-uuma, ug gipapauli siya nga walay dala.

¹¹And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

¹¹Ug siya nagpaadto na usab ug usa ka ulipon; ug kini gihampak usab nila, ug gipakaulawan, ug gipapauli nga walay dala.

¹²And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.

¹²Ug nagpaadto na usab sa ikatolo; ug kini usab gisamaran nila ug giabog sa gawas.

¹³Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.

¹³Ug miingon ang Ginoo sa parrasan: Unsa ang akong pagabuhaton? Pagasugoon ko ang akong anak nga hinigugma; tingali ilang pagatahuron siya.

¹⁴But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

¹⁴Apan sa hingkit-an kini sa mga mag-uuma, nanagtolotimbang sila sa ilang kaugalingon nga nagaingon: Kini mao ang manununod, umari kamo, patyon ta siya, aron ang kabilin maato.

¹⁵So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?

¹⁵Ug ilang giabog siya sa gawas sa parrasan, ug gipatay siya. Busa, unsa ang pagabuhaton kanila sa Ginoo sa parrasan?

¹⁶He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

¹⁶Moanhi siya ug magalaglag niining mga mag-uuma, ug igahatag niya ang parrasan sa uban. Ug sa hingdunggan nila kini, sila nanag-ingon: Dili unta kini mahitabo.

¹⁷And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

¹⁷Apan siya mitutok kanila ug miingon: Unsa man diay kining nahasulat: Ang bato nga gisalikway sa mga magtutukod, kini nahimong pangulo nga bato sa pamag-ang?

¹⁸Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

¹⁸Ang tanan nga nahulog sa ibabaw niadtong batoha mangadugmok; apan bisan kinsa ang mahulogan niya, kini magasabwag kaniya sama sa abog.

¹⁹And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

¹⁹Ug ang mga escriba ug ang mga pangulong sacerdote nanagtinguha sa pagdakup kaniya niadto gayud nga taknaa; ug nangahadlok sila sa katawohan; kay naila nila nga batok kanila ang pagsulti niya niini nga sambingay.

²⁰And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

²⁰Ug ilang ginabantayan siya, ug gipaadtoan ug mga maniniid nga nagapakaaron-ingnon sa ilang kaugalingon nga matarung, aron nga ilang hingdakpan siya sa iyang mga panulti, sa pagtugyan kaniya sa kagamhanan ug sa pagbulot-an sa gobernador.

²¹And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:

²¹Ug ilang gipangutana siya nga nagaingon: Magtutudlo, nahibalo kami nga ikaw nagasulti ug nagatudlo sa matul-id gayud, ug wala kay pinalabi sa mga tawo; kondili sa tinuod gayud nagatudlo ikaw sa kamatuoran sa dalan sa Dios.

²²Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?

²²Uyon ba sa balaod alang kanamo ang paghatag ug buhis kang Cesar, kun dili?

²³But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?

²³Apan nasabut niya pag-ayo ang ilang malimbungong paagi ug miingon kanila: Nganong ginatintal ninyo ako?

²⁴Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's.

²⁴Ipakita ninyo kanako ang usa ka denario. Kang kinsang dagway ug unsa ang nahasulat nga anaa kaniya? Ug sila nanagpanubag ug nanag-ingon: Kang Cesar.

²⁵And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.

²⁵Ug siya miingon kanila: Busa, maghatag kamo kang Cesar sa mga butang nga iya ni Cesar, ug sa Dios sa mga butang nga iya sa Dios.

²⁶And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

²⁶Ug wala sila makahimo sa pagdakup kaniya sa iyang mga pulong sa atubangan sa mga tawo; ug sila nanghibulong sa iyang tubag, ug nangahilum sila.

²⁷Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,

²⁷Ug dihay miduol kaniya pipila sa mga Saduceo, sila nga nanag-ingon nga walay pagkabanhaw;

²⁸Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

²⁸Ug sila nangutana kaniya nga nagaingon: Magtutudlo, gisulat ni Moises kanamo, nga kong ang igsoon sa usa ka tawo mamatay, nga adunay asawa ug walay anak, ang iyang igsoon mangasawa kaniya, ug magabangon sa kaliwatan sa iyang igsoon.

²⁹There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.

²⁹Busa may pito ka managsoon nga lalake: ang kamagulangan nangasawa, ug namatay nga walay anak.

³⁰And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.

³⁰Ug ang ikaduha nangasawa, apan kini namatay nga walay anak.

³¹And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.

³¹Ug ang ikatolo nangasawa kaniya; ug sa maong pagkaagi ang tanan nga pito; ug sila nangamatay nga walay gibilin nga mga anak.

³²Last of all the woman died also.

³²Ug sa katapusan sa tanan, namatay usab ang babaye.

³³Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.

³³Busa sa pagkabanhaw, kang kinsa man nga asawa siya? (Kay siya naasawa man sa pito).

³⁴And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

³⁴Ug si Jesus mitubag ug miingon kanila: Ang mga anak niining kalibutana nanagpangasawa ug ginapangasawa.

³⁵But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

³⁵Apan sila nga naisip nga takus sa pagdangat niadtong kalibutan ug sa pagkabanhaw gikan sa mga minatay, dili sila magaminyo, bisan pagaminyoon.

³⁶Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

³⁶Kay dili sila mamatay, kay sila masama man sa mga manolonda ug mga anak sa Dios, sanglit mga anak sa pagkabanhaw.

³⁷Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

³⁷Kondili nga ang mga minatay mangabanhaw, bisan si Moises nagpakita niini sa dapit sa Sapinit, sa panahon nga gitawag niya ang Ginoo, ang Dios ni Abraham, ug ang Dios ni Isaac, ug ang Dios ni Jacob.

³⁸For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

³⁸Busa siya dili Dios sa mga minatay, kondili sa mga buhi. Kay ang tanan nangabuhi tungod kaniya.

³⁹Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.

³⁹Ug may mga escriba sa nagatubag, miingon: Magtutudlo, maayo ang giingon mo.

⁴⁰And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.

⁴⁰Ug sukad niadto wala na sila mangahas sa pagpangutana kaniya sa bisan unsang pangutana.

⁴¹And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?

⁴¹Ug siya miingon kanila: Nganong ginaingon nila nga si Cristo anak ni David?

⁴²And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

⁴²Kay si David, sa iyang kaugalingon, nagaingon sa basahon sa mga Salmos: ang Ginoo nag-ingon sa akong Ginoo: Lumingkod ka sa akong too,

⁴³Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

⁴³Hangtud nga igabutang ko ang imong mga kaaway nga tumbanan sa imong mga tiil.

⁴⁴David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

⁴⁴Busa si David nagahingalan kaniya nga Ginoo, ug unsaon pagkahimo nga siya maanak niya?

⁴⁵Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,

⁴⁵Ug sa gipatalinghugan siya sa tanang katawohan, miingon siya sa iyang mga tinon-an:

⁴⁶Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

⁴⁶Magmatngon kamo sa mga escriba nga buot magalakaw nga sinul-oban sa mga bisti nga hatag-as, ug mahigugma sa mga pagyukbo sa mga baligyaanan, ug sa mga nahaunang mga lingkoranan sa mga sinagoga, ug sa paglingkod sa mga labing maayong lingkoranan sa mga kombira;

⁴⁷Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

⁴⁷Nga nagalamoy sa mga balay sa mga babayeng balo, ug sa usa ka pasangil nagabuhat ug hatag-as nga mga pangad-yeon: kini sila magadawat ug labing daku nga pagkahinukman sa silot.
