¹When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

²And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

³Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

⁴Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.

⁴Nga nagaingon: Nakasala ako sa pagtugyan ko sa dugo nga walay sala. Apan sila nag-ingon: Unsa may amo? ikaw ang mahibalo.

⁵And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

⁵Ug sa gisalibay niya ang mga salapi sa templo, mipahawa siya; ug milakaw, ug nagbitay sa iyang kaugalingon.

⁶And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

⁶Ug sa gikuha sa mga punoan sa mga sacerdote ang mga salapi, nag-ingon: Supak sa balaod nga igaipon kini sa bahandi sa mga halad, kay bili sa dugo.

⁷And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.

⁷Apan sa nagakasabut sila gipalit nila ang yuta sa magkokolon aron pagalubngan sa mga dumuloong.

⁸Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

⁸Tungod niini kadtong yutaa ginganlan yuta sa dugo hangtud karong adlawa.

⁹Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;

⁹Unya natuman ang gisulti pinaagi kang Jeremias nga manalagna, nga nagaingon: Ug gikuha nila ang katloan ka salapi, ang bili niya nga ilang gipabilihan, ang gibutangan ug bili sa pipila sa mga anak ni Israel.

¹⁰And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

¹⁰Ug ilang gibayad kanila alang sa yuta sa magkokolon, ingon sa gisugo kanako sa Ginoo.

¹¹And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.

¹¹Karon si Jesus nagatindog didto sa atubangan sa gobernador, ug gipangutana siya sa gobernador sa pag-ingon: Ikaw ba ang Hari sa mga Judio? Si Jesus miingon kaniya: Giingon mo.

¹²And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

¹³Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?

¹³Unya si Pilato miingon kaniya: Wala ba ikaw makadungog sa daghang mga butang nga ginapamatud-an nila batok kanimo?

¹⁴And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

¹⁴Ug siya wala motubag kaniya bisan usa lamang ka pulong; nahibulong ug daku ang gobernador.

¹⁵Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.

¹⁵Karon adunay batasan ang gobernador sa pagbuhi alang sa katawohan usa ka binilanggo sa adlaw sa fiesta, kong kinsa ang buot nila nga buhian.

¹⁶And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

¹⁶Ug unya may usa ka binilanggo nga bantug nga ginganlan si Barrabas.

¹⁷Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?

¹⁷Busa sa diha nga nanagkatigum na sila, miingon kanila si Pilato: Kinsa ba ang buot ninyo nga pagabuhian ko kaninyo, si Barrabas ba kun si Jesus, ang ginganlan si Cristo?

¹⁸For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.

¹⁸Kay iyang hingbaloan nga tungod sa kasina ilang gitugyan siya.

¹⁹When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

¹⁹Ug samtang nagalingkod siya sa lingkoranan sa hukmanan, gipasugoan siya sa iyang asawa sa pag-ingon: Dili ka maghilabut nianang matarung, kay karong adlawa daghan ang giantus ko sa damgo tungod kaniya.

²⁰But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

²⁰Karon, ang mga punoan sa mga sacerdote ug mga anciano nag-uloulo sa katawohan, aron pangayoon nila si Barrabas, ug pagalaglagon si Jesus.

²¹The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.

²¹Apan ang gobernador, sa mitubag kanila, miingon: Kinsa ba kanila nga duha ang buot ninyo nga ako kaninyong pagabuhian? Ug sila miingon: Si Barrabas!

²²Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

²²Si Pilato nag-ingon kanila: Busa, unsa ba ang pagabuhaton ko kang Jesus, nga ginganlan si Cristo? Ang tanan nagaingon kaniya: Ilansang siya sa cruz!

²³And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

²³Ug ang gobernador nag-ingon: Ngano, unsa ba ang kadautan nga gibuhat niya? Apan sila nanagsinggit pa gayud pag-ayo nga nagaingon: Ilansang siya sa cruz.

²⁴When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.

²⁴Apan sa hingkit-an ni Pilato nga wala siyay dag-anan kondili nga nagadugang hinoon ang kasaba, mikuha siya sa tubig ug nanghunaw sa iyang mga kamot sa atubangan sa katawohan, nga nagaingon: Ako walay sala sa dugo niining matarung; kamo ang mahibalo.

²⁵Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

²⁵Ug mitubag ang tanang katawohan ug miingon: Mahulog ang iyang dugo kanamo, ug sa among mga anak.

²⁶Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

²⁶Unya iyang gibuhian alang kanila si Barrabas; apan si Jesus iyang gihampak ug gitugyan aron igalansang sa cruz.

²⁷Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.

²⁷Unya gidala si Jesus sa mga sundalo sa gobernador ngadto sa pretorio, ug gilikusan siya sa tibook nga pundok.

²⁸And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

²⁸Ug gihuboan siya ug gisul-oban sa usa ka habol nga mapula.

²⁹And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

²⁹Ug nanagsalapid sila ug usa ka purongpurong nga tonokon, ug gisul-ob nila sa iyang ulo, ug usa ka bagakay sa iyang kamot nga too; ug nagluhodluhod sila sa atubangan niya, nanagyubit kaniya, nga nagaingon: Maghimaya, hari sa mga Judio!

³⁰And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

³⁰Ug ilang gilud-an siya, ug gikuha nila ang bagakay ug gibunalan siya sa iyang ulo.

³¹And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

³¹Ug siya sa human nila bugalbugali, ilang gihuboan siya sa kupo, ug gisul-oban sa iyang kaugalingong mga saput, ug gidala siya aron igalansang sa cruz.

³²And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

³³And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,

³⁴They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

³⁵And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

³⁶And sitting down they watched him there;

³⁶Ug nanglingkod sila ug nagbantay kaniya didto.

³⁷And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

³⁷Ug gibutang nila sa ibabaw sa iyang ulo ang ilang sumbong nga nahasulat: KINI MAO SI JESUS, ANG HARI SA MGA JUDIO.

³⁸Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.

³⁸Unya gilansang nila sa cruz uban kaniya ang duha ka tulisan, ang usa sa too ug ang usa sa wala.

³⁹And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

³⁹Ug ang mga nanagpanlabay didto nanagpasipala kaniya ug nagyangoyango sa ilang mga ulo.

⁴⁰And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

⁴⁰Ug nanag-ingon: Ikaw nga magaguba sa templo, ug magapatindog kaniya sa ikatolo ka adlaw, magluwas ka sa imong kaugalingon. Kong ikaw mao ang Anak sa Dios, manaug ka sa cruz.

⁴¹Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

⁴¹Ug sa mao usab nga pagkaagi nanagbiaybiay kaniya ang mga punoan sa mga sacerdote, kauban sa mga escriba ug mga anciano, nga nagaingon:

⁴²He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

⁴²Sa uban nagluwas siya, sa iyang kaugalingon dili arang makaluwas. Kong siya mao ang hari sa Israel, manaug siya karon sa cruz, ug motoo kita kaniya.

⁴³He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

⁴³Nagasalig siya sa Dios. Luwason karon niya siya, kong iyang nahamut-an siya, kay siya nag-ingon: Ako Anak sa Dios.

⁴⁴The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

⁴⁴Ug sa mao nga pagkaagi gipasipalahan usab siya sa mga tulisan nga gilansang sa cruz uban kaniya.

⁴⁵Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

⁴⁵Ug sukad sa ikaunom ka takna miabut ang kangitngit sa tibook nga yuta hangtud sa ikasiyam ka takna.

⁴⁶And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

⁴⁶Ug sa haduol na ang ikasiyam ka takna, misinggit si Jesus sa usa ka makusog nga tingog nga nagaingon: Eloi, Eloi, lama sabactani? Nga kong hubaron: Dios ko, Dios ko, nganong gibiyaan mo ako?

⁴⁷Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

⁴⁷Ug ang uban sa mga nagatindog didto, sa pagkadungog nila, nanag-ingon: Kini nagatawag kang Elias.

⁴⁸And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

⁴⁸Ug gilayon midalagan ang usa kanila, ug mikuha ug usa ka esponja, ug gihumod kini sa suka, ug sa gitaud sa usa ka tukon, gipainum kaniya.

⁴⁹The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.

⁴⁹Apan ang uban nanag-ingon: Pasagdi, tan-awon ta kong moanhi ba si Elias sa pagluwas kaniya.

⁵⁰Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

⁵⁰Ug si Jesus misinggit pag-usab sa makusog nga tingog ug nagtugyan sa iyang espiritu.

⁵¹And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

⁵¹Ug ania karon ang tabil sa templo napikas gikan sa ibabaw hangtud sa ubos, ug ang yuta nauyog, ug nangabuak ang mga batong bantilis.

⁵²And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

⁵³And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

⁵⁴Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

⁵⁴Ug ang centurion ug ang mga kauban niya didto sa pagbantay kang Jesus, sa nasud-ong nila ang linog ug ang mga butang nga nagakahatabo, nangahadlok sila pag-ayo nga nagaingon: Matuod gayud nga kini mao ang Anak sa Dios.

⁵⁵And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:

⁵⁵Ug didto nagatan-aw sa halayo ang daghang mga babaye nga nanagsunod kang Jesus sukad sa Galilea sa pag-alagad kaniya.

⁵⁶Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedees children.

⁵⁶Ang uban kanila mao si Maria Magdalena ug si Maria nga inahan ni Jacobo ug ni Jose, ug ang inahan sa mga anak ni Zebedeo.

⁵⁷When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:

⁵⁷Ug sa pagkahapon, miabut ang usa ka tawong dato nga gikan sa Arimatea, nga ginganlan si Jose, tinon-an usab ni Jesus.

⁵⁸He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.

⁵⁸Kini miadto kang Pilato ug gipangayo niya ang lawas ni Jesus. Unya si Pilato nagsugo nga ihatag kaniya ang lawas.

⁵⁹And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

⁵⁹Ug sa gikuha ni Jose ang lawas, giputos niya sa usa ka mahinlo nga panaptong lino.

⁶⁰And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

⁶¹And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

⁶²Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,

⁶³Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

⁶⁴Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.

⁶⁵Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.

⁶⁶So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
