¹The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

¹Ang panan-awon ni Abdias. Kini mao ang giingon sa Ginoong Jehova mahatungod sa Edom: Kami nakabati mga balita gikan kang Jehova, ug usa ka sinugo gipadala sa taliwala sa mga nasud, nga nagaingon : Manindog kamo, ug manindog kita sa pagpakiggubat batok kaniya.

²Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

²Ania karon, gihimo ko ikaw nga diyutay sa taliwala sa mga nasud: ikaw ginatamay sa hilabihan gayud.

³The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

³Ang pagpalabilabi sa imong kasing-kasing naglimbong kanimo, Oh ikaw nga nagpuyo sa mga liki sa pangpang, kang kansang puloy-anan atua sa itaas; nga nagaingon sa sulod sa iyang kasing-kasing: Kinsa ba ang makapahulog kanako ngadto sa yuta?

⁴Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.

⁴Bisan ikaw nagabatog sa kahitas-an ingon sa agila, ug bisan ang imong salag igapahamutang sa taliwala sa mga bitoon, gikan diha hulogon ko ikaw, nagaingon si Jehova.

⁵If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

⁵Kong ang mga kawatan ming-anha kanimo, kong ang mga tulisan sa kagabhion (daw unsa ang imong pagkalaglag!), dili ba sila mangawat lamang hangtud nga sila adunay igo alang kanila ? kong ang mga magpupopo sa parras ming-abut kanimo, dili ba nila biyaan ang halagdawon nga mga ubas?

⁶How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!

⁶Giunsa ang pagsusi sa mga butang ni Esau ! giunsa ang pagpangita sa iyang mga tinipigan nga bahandi!

⁷All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; that they eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.

⁷Ang tanang mga tawo nga sakup sa panagsangga nga imong gipangulohan maoy naghatud kanimo sa imong gipadulngan, bisan pa hangtud sa utlanan: ang mga tawo nga diha sa pakigdait uban kanimo nanaglimbong kanimo, ug nakadaug batok kanimo; sila nga nagaingon sa imong tinapay nanagbutang ug lit-ag sa ilalum nimo: walay salabutan diha kaniya.

⁸Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

⁸Niadtong adlawa, miingon si Jehova: Dili ba laglagon ko ang mga tawo nga makinaadmanon sa Edom, ug ang mga tawo nga masinabuton dili ba laglagon ko sa bukid ni Esau?

⁹And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

⁹Ug ang imong mga gamhanang tawo, Oh Teman, mangaluya sa kahadlok, sa tuyo nga ang tagsatagsa pagaputlon gikan sa bukid ni Esau pinaagi sa pagpamatay.

¹⁰For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

¹⁰Tungod sa pagpanlupig nga imong gihimo sa imong igsoon nga si Jacob, ang kaulaw magatabon kanimo, ug ikaw pagaputlon sa walay katapusan.

¹¹In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

¹¹Sa adlaw nga ikaw mitindog sa pikas nga daplin, sa adlaw nga ang iyang katigayonan gidala sa mga dumuloong, ug ang mga lumalangyaw mingsulod sa iyang mga ganghaan, ug nanagpapalad mahitungod sa Jerusalem, bisan pa ikaw sama sa usa usab kanila.

¹²But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

¹²Apan ayaw pagtan-aw lamang sa adlaw sa imong igsoon diha sa adlaw sa iyang kadaut, ug ayaw pagmalipayon mahitungod sa mga anak sa Juda sa adlaw sa ilang pagkalaglag: ni magsulti ka nga mapahitas-on sa adlaw sa kalaut.

¹³Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;

¹³Ayaw pagsulod sa ganghaan sa akong katawohan sa adlaw sa ilang kagul-anan; oo, ayaw pagtan-awa ang ilang kasakitan sa adlaw sa ilang kagul-anan, ni magkawkaw ka sa ilang mga katigayanan sa adlaw sa ilang kagul-anan.

¹⁴Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.

¹⁴Ug ayaw pagtindog sa kinasang-an sa dalan, aron sa pagputol niadtong mga iya nga nanagpangalagiw; ug ayaw pag-itugyan kadtong mga iya nga managpabilin sa adlaw sa kasub-anan.

¹⁵For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

¹⁵Kay ang adlaw ni Jehova haduol man sa sa ibabaw sa tanang mga nasud: ingon sa imong gibuhat, kanimo pagabuhaton kini; ang imong gibuhat magabalik sa imong kaugalingong ulo.

¹⁶For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

¹⁶Kay ingon nga kamo nanginum ibabaw sa akong balaan nga bukid, sa mao nga pagkaagi ang tanang mga nasud manginum sa walay paghunong; oo, sila manginum, ug motulon, ug mahimo nga daw wala sila mangatawo.

¹⁷But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

¹⁷Apan didto sa bukid sa Sion magapuyo kadtong mga nangalagiw, ug kana mahimong balaan; ug ang balay ni Jacob makabaton sa ilang mga napanag-iya.

¹⁸And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

¹⁸Ug ang balay ni Jacob mahimong kalayo, ug ang balay ni Jose mahimong siga, ug ang balay ni Esau mahimong pulaig, ug kini manga sunog sa taliwala nila, ug magaut-ut kanila; ug walay bisan unsa nga mahabilin sa balay ni Esau; kay si Jehova namulong niana.

¹⁹And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

¹⁹Ug sila nga atua sa Habagatan magapanag-iya sa bukid ni Esau, ug kadtong atua sa kapatagan magapanag-iya sa mga Filistehanon; ug sila magapanag-iya sa kaumahan sa Ephraim, ug sa kaumahan sa Samaria; ug si Benjamin magapanag-iya sa Galaad.

²⁰And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.

²⁰Ug ang mga binihag niining panona sa mga anak sa Israel, nga anaa sa taliwala sa mga Canaanhon, magapanag-iya bisan hangtud sa Sarepta; ug ang mga binihag sa Jerusalem, nga atua sa Sepharad, magapanag-iya sa mga ciudad sa Habagatan.

²¹And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD's.

²¹Ug ang mga manluluwas motungas sa bukid sa Sion aron sa paghukom sa bukid ni Esau; ug ang gingharian mahimong iya ni Jehova.
