¹I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,

¹Ako nagasulti sa kamatuoran nga anaa kang Cristo, ako wala magbakak; ang akong kaisipan nga nagapamatuod uban kanako ania sa Espiritu Santo;

²That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.

²Nga ako adunay daku nga kasubo ug kaguol nga walay pag-undang sa akong kasingkasing.

³For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

³Kay ikapangandoy ko unta, nga ako mahimong tinunglo nga mahimulag gikan kang Cristo, tungod sa akong mga igsoon, akong mga kaubanan sumala sa unod:

⁴Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

⁴Nga mga Israelihanon; ang kansa ang pagkainanak-anak ug ang himaya, ug ang mga tugon, ug ang paghatag sa Kasugoan, ug ang pag-alagad sa Dios, ug ang mga saad;

⁵Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

⁵Kang kansa ang mga amahan, ug gikan kanila si Cristo mahatungod sa unod, nga mao ang sa ibabaw sa tanan, ang dalayegon nga Dios sa walay katapusan. Amen.

⁶Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

⁶Apan dili ingon niana nga daw makawang ang pulong sa Dios; kay dili ang tanang mga taga-lsrael, mga Israelihanon gayud;

⁷Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

⁷Dili usab, tungod kay sila sa kaliwatan ni Abraham, nga mga anak ngatanan sila; apan, Kang Isaac pagatawgon ang imong kaliwat.

⁸That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

⁸Nga mao, dili ang mga anak sa unod nga mao ang mga anak sa Dios; kondili ang mga anak sa saad mao ang ginaisip nga kaliwat.

⁹For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.

⁹Kay kini mao ang pulong sa saad: Sumala niini nga panahon ako moanhi ug si Sara makadawat ug usa ka anak nga lalake.

¹⁰And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;

¹⁰Ug dili lamang kini, kondili si Rebeca usab, sa nakapanamkon gikan sa usa, kang Isaac nga atong amahan

¹¹(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

¹¹(Kay ang kabataan sanglit wala pa mangatawo, ug wala usab makabuhat bisan unsa nga maayo kun dautan, aron nga magadayon ang tuyo sa Dios ingon sa pagpili, dili sa mga buhat, kondili gikan kaniya nga nagatawag),

¹²It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

¹²Gisultihan siya: Ang magulang mag-alagad sa manghud;

¹³As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

¹³Sumala sa nahasulat: Gihigugma ko si Jacob, apan si Esau akong gidumtan.

¹⁴What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

¹⁴Busa unsa ang ikapamulong ta? May pagkadilimatarung ba ang Dios? Kana dili mahimo!

¹⁵For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

¹⁵Kay siya nagaingon kang Moises: Malooy ako niadtong akong pagakaloy-an; ug magmapuangoron ako niadtong akong hatagan sa puangod.

¹⁶So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

¹⁶Nan, sa ingon niini, ang tanan dili niadtong nagabuot, dili niadtong bisan nagadalagan, kondili sa Dios nga adunay kalooy.

¹⁷For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

¹⁷Kay ang Kasulatan nagaingon kang Faraon: Tungod niini gayud nga tuyo gibangon ko ikaw, aron diha kanimo igapahayag ko ang akong gahum, ug aron ang akong ngalan igamantala sa tibook nga yuta.

¹⁸Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

¹⁸Sa ingon niini, nagakalooy siya niadtong buot niya nga kaloy-an; ug nagapatig-a siya sa buot niya.

¹⁹Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

¹⁹Busa moingon ka kanako: Nganong nagapangita pa siya ug kapasanginlan? Kay kinsa ba ang misukol sa iyang kabubut-on?

²⁰Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

²⁰Busa karon, oh tawo, kinsa ka ba nga makiglalis man sa Dios? Makaingon ba ang binuhat sa nagbuhat kaniya: Nganong gihimo mo ako sa ingon niini?

²¹Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

²¹Kun ang magkokolon wala bay gahum sa lapok, gikan sa maong inumol sa pagbuhat ug usa ka sudlanan sa kadungganan sa usa ka bahin, ug usa sa kaulawan sa laing bahin?

²²What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

²²Ug unsa kaha, kong ang Dios buot magpahayag sa iyang kaligutgut ug sa pagpaila sa iyang gahum, mag-antus sa daku gayud nga pagkamapailubon sa mga sudlanan sa kaligutgut, nga andam na sa pagkalaglag;

²³And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

²³Ug aron ikapaila niya ang mga pagkadato sa iyang himaya sa ibabaw sa mga sudlanan sa kalooy, nga iyang gitagana nga daan alang sa himaya;

²⁴Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

²⁴Nga mao kita nga iyang gitawag usab, dili gikan sa mga Judio lamang, kondili gikan sa mga Gentil usab?

²⁵As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.

²⁵Ingon usab sa iyang gisulti sa Oseas: Pagatawgon ko kadto nga katawohan, ang dili akong katawohan; ug iyang hinigugma, kadtong dili hinigugma.

²⁶And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

²⁶Ug nahitabo, nga sa dapit diin didto ginaingon kanila: Dili kamo akong katawohan, didto pagahinganlan sila nga mga anak sa Dios nga buhi.

²⁷Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

²⁷Ug si Isaias nagasinggit mahatungod sa Israel: Bisan ang gidaghanon sa mga anak sa Israel sama sa balas sa dagat, ang mahabilin mao ang mangaluwas.

²⁸For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

²⁸Kay ang Ginoo magatuman sa iyang pulong sa ibabaw sa yuta, sa paghuman ug sa pagputol niini.

²⁹And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.

²⁹Ug, ingon sa gitagna ni Isaias kaniadto: Kong ang Ginoo sa mga kasundalohan wala pa magbilin kanato ug kaliwat, kita mangahimo unta nga sama sa Sodoma, ug sama sa Gomorra.

³⁰What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

³⁰Busa unsay igaingon ta? Nga ang mga Gentil, nga wala magsunod sa pagkamatarung, nakadangat sa pagkamatarung, bisan sa pagkamatarung nga gikan sa pagtoo.

³¹But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

³¹Apan ang Israel, nga nagsunod sa Kasugoan sa pagkamatarung, wala makadangat nianang Kasugoan.

³²Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

³²Ngano man? Kay kini gipangita nila dili tungod sa pagtoo, kondili ingon nga daw gikan sa mga buhat sa Kasugoan. Nanghipangdol sila sa bato sa pagkapangdol;

³³As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

³³Ingon sa nahasulat na: Ania karon, nagabutang ako sa Sion sa bato sa pagkapangdol ug bato sa pagkahulog; ug ang motoo kaniya, dili pagapakaulawan.
