1 Kings

18

1And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.
1 Aeth cryn amser heibio, ac yn y drydedd flwyddyn daeth gair yr ARGLWYDD at Elias gan ddweud, "Dos, dangos dy hun i Ahab er mwyn imi roi glaw ar wyneb y tir."
2And Elijah went to show himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria.
2 Aeth Elias i'w ddangos ei hun i Ahab.
3And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:
3 Gan fod y newyn yn drwm yn Samaria, galwodd Ahab ar Obadeia, goruchwyliwr ei du375?.
4For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)
4 Yr oedd Obadeia yn ofni'r ARGLWYDD yn fawr, a phan ddistrywiodd Jesebel broffwydi'r ARGLWYDD, fe gymerodd Obadeia gant o broffwydi a'u cuddio mewn ogof fesul hanner cant, a'u cynnal bwyd a diod.
5And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.
5 A dywedodd Ahab wrth Obadeia, "Cerdda drwy'r wlad i bob ffynnon a nant, ac efallai y down o hyd i laswellt, a chadw'r ceffylau a'r mulod yn fyw, rhag inni golli pob anifail."
6So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.
6 Ac wedi rhannu'r wlad rhyngddynt i gerdded drwyddi, aeth Ahab ei hun un ffordd, ac Obadeia ffordd arall.
7And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou that my lord Elijah?
7 A phan oedd Obadeia ar ei ffordd, daeth Elias i'w gyfarfod; adnabu yntau ef, a syrthio ar ei wyneb a dweud, "Ai ti sydd yna, f'arglwydd Elias?"
8And he answered him, I am: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.
8 "Ie," atebodd yntau, "dos a dywed wrth dy arglwydd fod Elias ar gael."
9And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?
9 Ond meddai hwnnw, "Beth yw fy mai, dy fod yn rhoi dy was yn llaw Ahab i'm lladd?
10As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.
10 Cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD dy Dduw yn fyw, nid oes na chenedl na theyrnas nad yw f'arglwydd wedi anfon yno i'th geisio; a phan ddywedent, 'Nid yw yma', byddai'n mynnu i'r deyrnas neu'r genedl dyngu llw nad oeddent wedi dy weld.
11And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.
11 A dyma ti'n dweud wrthyf, 'Dos a dywed wrth dy arglwydd fod Elias ar gael'!
12And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.
12 Cyn gynted ag yr af oddi wrthyt, bydd ysbryd yr ARGLWYDD yn dy gipio, ni wn i ble. Ac os af i ddweud wrth Ahab, ac yntau'n methu dy gael, bydd yn fy lladd ac y mae dy was wedi ofni'r ARGLWYDD er pan oedd yn fachgen.
13Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?
13 Oni ddywedodd neb wrth f'arglwydd yr hyn a wneuthum pan oedd Jesebel yn lladd proffwydi'r ARGLWYDD, fy mod wedi cuddio cant o broffwydi'r ARGLWYDD mewn ogof, fesul hanner cant, a'u cynnal bwyd a diod?
14And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he shall slay me.
14 A dyma ti'n dweud wrthyf, 'Dos a dywed wrth f'arglwydd fod Elias ar gael'! Y mae'n sicr o'm lladd."
15And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him to day.
15 Dywedodd Elias, "Cyn wired bod ARGLWYDD y Lluoedd yn fyw, yr hwn yr wyf yn ei wasanaethu, yr wyf am ymddangos iddo heddiw."
16So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
16 Yna aeth Obadeia i gyfarfod Ahab a dweud wrtho; ac aeth Ahab i gyfarfod Elias.
17And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?
17 Pan welodd Ahab ef, dywedodd wrtho, "Ai ti sydd yna, gythryblwr Israel?"
18And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.
18 Atebodd yntau, "Nid myfi sydd wedi cythryblu Israel, ond tydi a'th deulu, drwy wrthod gorchmynion yr ARGLWYDD a dilyn y Baalim.
19Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.
19 Anfon yn awr a chasgla ataf holl Israel i Fynydd Carmel, a hefyd y pedwar cant a hanner o broffwydi Baal a'r pedwar cant o broffwydi Asera y mae Jesebel yn eu cynnal."
20So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.
20 Anfonodd Ahab at yr holl Israeliaid, a chasglu'r proffwydi i Fynydd Carmel.
21And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
21 Pan ddaeth Elias at yr holl bobl, gofynnodd, "Pa hyd yr ydych yn cloffi rhwng dau feddwl? Os yr ARGLWYDD sydd Dduw, dilynwch ef; ac os Baal, dilynwch hwnnw." Ond nid atebodd y bobl air iddo.
22Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.
22 Yna meddai Elias wrth y bobl, "Myfi fy hunan a adawyd yn broffwyd i'r ARGLWYDD, tra mae proffwydi Baal yn bedwar cant a hanner.
23Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:
23 Rhodder inni ddau fustach, hwy i ddewis un a'i ddatgymalu a'i osod ar y coed, ond heb roi tn dano; a gwnaf finnau'r llall yn barod a'i osod ar y coed, heb roi tn dano.
24And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
24 Yna galwch chwi ar eich duw chwi, a galwaf finnau ar yr ARGLWYDD, a'r duw a etyb drwy dn fydd Dduw."
25And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.
25 Atebodd yr holl bobl, "Cynllun da!" Dywedodd Elias wrth broffwydi Baal, "Dewiswch chwi un bustach a'i baratoi'n gyntaf, gan eich bod yn niferus, a galwch ar eich duw, ond peidio rhoi tn."
26And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.
26 Ac wedi cymryd y bustach a roddwyd iddynt a'i baratoi, galwasant ar Baal o'r bore hyd hanner dydd, a dweud, "Baal, ateb ni!" Ond nid oedd llef nac ateb, er iddynt lamu o gylch yr allor.
27And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
27 Erbyn hanner dydd yr oedd Elias yn eu gwatwar ac yn dweud, "Galwch yn uwch, oherwydd duw ydyw; hwyrach ei fod yn synfyfyrio, neu wedi troi o'r neilltu, neu wedi mynd ar daith; neu efallai ei fod yn cysgu a bod yn rhaid ei ddeffro."
28And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.
28 Galwasant yn uwch, a'u hanafu eu hunain yn l eu harfer chyllyll a phicellau nes i'r gwaed lifo arnynt.
29And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
29 Ac wedi i hanner dydd fynd heibio, yr oeddent yn dal i broffwydo'n orffwyll hyd adeg offrymu'r hwyroffrwm; ond nid oedd llef nac ateb na sylw i'w gael.
30And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.
30 Yna dywedodd Elias wrth yr holl bobl, "Dewch yn nes ataf"; a daeth yr holl bobl ato. Trwsiodd yntau allor yr ARGLWYDD a oedd wedi ei malurio;
31And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:
31 a chymerodd ddeuddeg carreg, yn l nifer llwythau meibion Jacob (yr un y daeth gair yr ARGLWYDD ato yn dweud, "Israel fydd dy enw").
32And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.
32 Yna adeiladodd y cerrig yn allor yn enw'r ARGLWYDD, ac o gylch yr allor gwneud ffos ddigon mawr i gymryd dau fesur o had.
33And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.
33 Trefnodd y coed, a darnio'r bustach a'i osod ar y coed,
34And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.
34 ac yna meddai, "Llanwch bedwar llestr du373?r, a'i dywallt ar yr aberth a'r coed." Yna dywedodd, "Gwnewch eilwaith"; a gwnaethant yr eildro. Yna dywedodd, "Gwnewch y drydedd waith"; a gwnaethant y trydydd tro,
35And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.
35 nes bod y du373?r yn llifo o amgylch yr allor ac yn llenwi'r ffos.
36And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
36 Pan ddaeth awr offrymu'r hwyroffrwm, nesaodd y proffwyd Elias a dweud, "O ARGLWYDD, Duw Abraham, Isaac ac Israel, pr wybod heddiw mai ti sydd Dduw yn Israel, a minnau'n was iti, ac mai trwy dy air di y gwneuthum hyn i gyd.
37Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
37 Ateb fi, O ARGLWYDD, ateb fi, er mwyn i'r bobl hyn wybod mai tydi, O ARGLWYDD, sydd Dduw, ac mai ti sydd yn troi eu calon yn l drachefn."
38Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
38 Ar hynny disgynnodd tn yr ARGLWYDD ac ysu'r poethoffrwm, y coed, y cerrig, a'r llwch, a lleibio'r du373?r oedd yn y ffos.
39And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.
39 Pan welsant, syrthiodd yr holl bobl ar eu hwyneb a dweud, "Yr ARGLWYDD sydd Dduw! Yr ARGLWYDD sydd Dduw!"
40And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.
40 Yna dywedodd Elias wrthynt, "Daliwch broffwydi Baal; peidiwch gadael i'r un ohonynt ddianc." Ac wedi iddynt eu dal, aeth Elias hwy i lawr i nant Cison a'u lladd yno.
41And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
41 Dywedodd Elias wrth Ahab, "Dos yn l, cymer fwyd a diod, oherwydd y mae su373?n glaw."
42So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,
42 Felly aeth Ahab yn ei l i fwyta ac yfed, ond aeth Elias i fyny i ben Carmel, a gwargrymu ar y ddaear nes bod ei wyneb rhwng ei liniau.
43And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
43 Yna dywedodd wrth ei lanc, "Dos di i fyny ac edrych tua'r mr." Ac wedi iddo fynd ac edrych dywedodd, "Nid oes dim i'w weld." A saith waith y dywedodd wrtho, "Dos eto."
44And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.
44 A'r seithfed tro dywedodd y llanc, "Mae yna gwmwl bychan fel cledr llaw yn codi o'r mr." Yna dywedodd Elias wrtho, "Dos, dywed wrth Ahab, 'Gwna dy gerbyd yn barod a dos, rhag i'r glaw dy rwystro.'"
45And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.
45 Ar fyr dro duodd yr awyr gan gymylau a gwynt, a bu glaw trwm; ond yr oedd Ahab wedi gyrru yn ei gerbyd a chyrraedd Jesreel.
46And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
46 Daeth llaw yr ARGLWYDD ar Elias, tynhaodd yntau rwymyn am ei lwynau, a rhedodd o flaen Ahab hyd at y fynedfa i Jesreel.
