1Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armor, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines' garrison, that is on the other side. But he told not his father.
1 Un diwrnod, heb yngan gair wrth ei dad, dywedodd Jonathan fab Saul wrth y gwas oedd yn cludo'i arfau, "Tyrd, awn drosodd at wylwyr y Philistiaid sydd acw gyferbyn ni."
2And Saul tarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people that were with him were about six hundred men;
2 Yr oedd Saul yn aros yng nghwr Gibea, dan y pren pomgranad sydd yn Migron, a thua chwe chant o bobl gydag ef;
3And Ahiah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the LORD's priest in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. And the people knew not that Jonathan was gone.
3 Ahia, mab Ahitub brawd Ichabod, fab Phinees, fab Eli, offeiriad yr ARGLWYDD yn Seilo, oedd yn cario'r effod. Ni wyddai'r bobl fod Jonathan wedi mynd.
4And between the passages, by which Jonathan sought to go over unto the Philistines' garrison, there was a sharp rock on the one side, and a sharp rock on the other side: and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
4 Yn y bwlch lle'r oedd Jonathan yn ceisio croesi tuag at wylwyr y Philistiaid yr oedd clogwyn o graig ar y naill ochr a'r llall; Boses oedd enw'r naill a Senne oedd enw'r llall.
5The forefront of the one was situate northward over against Michmash, and the other southward over against Gibeah.
5 Yr oedd un clogwyn yn taflu allan i'r gogledd ar ochr Michmas, a'r llall i'r de ar ochr Geba.
6And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armor, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.
6 Dywedodd Jonathan wrth y gwas oedd yn cludo'i arfau, "Tyrd, awn drosodd at y gwylwyr dienwaededig acw; efallai y bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn gweithio o'n plaid, oherwydd nid oes dim i rwystro'r ARGLWYDD rhag gwaredu trwy lawer neu drwy ychydig."
7And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.
7 Dywedodd cludydd ei arfau wrtho, "Gwna beth bynnag sydd yn dy fryd; dygna arni; rwyf gyda thi, galon wrth galon."
8Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will discover ourselves unto them.
8 Dywedodd Jonathan, "Edrych yma, fe awn drosodd at y dynion a'n dangos ein hunain iddynt.
9If they say thus unto us, Tarry until we come to you; then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up unto them.
9 Os dywedant wrthym, 'Arhoswch lle'r ydych nes y byddwn wedi dod atoch', fe arhoswn lle byddwn heb fynd atynt.
10But if they say thus, Come up unto us; then we will go up: for the LORD hath delivered them into our hand: and this shall be a sign unto us.
10 Ond os dywedant, 'Dewch i fyny atom', yna awn i fyny, oherwydd bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn eu rhoi yn ein llaw; a bydd hyn yn arwydd inni."
11And both of them discovered themselves unto the garrison of the Philistines: and the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves.
11 Dangosodd y ddau ohonynt eu hunain i wylwyr y Philistiaid, a dywedodd y Philistiaid, "Dyma Hebreaid yn dod allan o'r tyllau lle buont yn cuddio."
12And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will show you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.
12 A gwaeddodd dynion yr wyliadwriaeth ar Jonathan a'i gludydd arfau, a dweud, "Dewch i fyny atom, i ni gael dangos rhywbeth i chwi." Dywedodd Jonathan wrth ei gludydd arfau, "Tyrd i fyny ar f'l i, oherwydd y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi eu rhoi yn llaw Israel."
13And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet, and his armourbearer after him: and they fell before Jonathan; and his armourbearer slew after him.
13 Dringodd Jonathan i fyny ar ei ddwylo a'i draed, gyda'i gludydd arfau ar ei l. Cwympodd y gwylwyr o flaen Jonathan, a daeth ei gludydd arfau ar ei l i'w dienyddio.
14And that first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armourbearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were an half acre of land, which a yoke of oxen might plow.
14 Y tro cyntaf hwn, lladdodd Jonathan a'i gludydd arfau tuag ugain o ddynion o fewn tua hanner cwys cae.
15And there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people: the garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked: so it was a very great trembling.
15 Cododd braw drwy'r gwersyll a'r maes, a brawychwyd holl bobl yr wyliadwriaeth, a'r rheibwyr hefyd, nes bod y wlad yn crynu gan arswyd.
16And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and, behold, the multitude melted away, and they went on beating down one another.
16 Yna gwelodd ysbiwyr Saul oedd yn Gibea Benjamin fod y gwersyll yn rhuthro yma ac acw mewn anhrefn.
17Then said Saul unto the people that were with him, Number now, and see who is gone from us. And when they had numbered, behold, Jonathan and his armourbearer were not there.
17 Dywedodd Saul wrth y bobl oedd gydag ef, "Galwch y rhestr i weld pwy sydd wedi mynd o'n plith."
18And Saul said unto Ahiah, Bring hither the ark of God. For the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.
18 Galwyd y rhestr, a chael nad oedd Jonathan na'i gludydd arfau yno. Yna dywedodd Saul wrth Ahia, "Tyrd 'r effod." Oherwydd yr adeg honno ef oedd yn cludo'r effod o flaen Israel.
19And it came to pass, while Saul talked unto the priest, that the noise that was in the host of the Philistines went on and increased: and Saul said unto the priest, Withdraw thine hand.
19 Tra oedd Saul yn siarad 'r offeiriad, cynyddodd yr anhrefn fwyfwy yng ngwersyll y Philistiaid, a dywedodd Saul wrth yr offeiriad, "Atal dy law."
20And Saul and all the people that were with him assembled themselves, and they came to the battle: and, behold, every man's sword was against his fellow, and there was a very great discomfiture.
20 Galwodd Saul yr holl bobl oedd gydag ef, ac aethant i'r frwydr; yno yr oedd pob un 'i gleddyf yn erbyn ei gyfaill, mewn anhrefn llwyr.
21Moreover the Hebrews that were with the Philistines before that time, which went up with them into the camp from the country round about, even they also turned to be with the Israelites that were with Saul and Jonathan.
21 A dyma'r Hebreaid oedd gynt ar ochr y Philistiaid, ac wedi dod i fyny i'r gwersyll gyda hwy, yn troi ac yn ochri gyda'r Israeliaid oedd gyda Saul a Jonathan.
22Likewise all the men of Israel which had hid themselves in mount Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.
22 A phan glywodd yr Israeliaid oedd yn llechu yn ucheldir Effraim fod y Philistiaid ar ffo, dyna hwythau hefyd yn ymuno i'w hymlid.
23So the LORD saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over unto Bethaven.
23 Y dydd hwnnw gwaredodd yr ARGLWYDD Israel, ac ymledodd y frwydr tu hwnt i Beth-afen.
24And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.
24 Ond aeth yn gyfyng ar yr Israeliaid y diwrnod hwnnw, oherwydd i Saul dynghedu'r bobl a dweud, "Melltigedig fyddo'r un sy'n bwyta tamaid cyn yr hwyr! Yr wyf am ddial ar fy ngelynion." Ac ni phrofodd yr un o'r bobl damaid.
25And all they of the land came to a wood; and there was honey upon the ground.
25 Daethant oll i goedwig lle'r oedd ml gwyllt;
26And when the people were come into the wood, behold, the honey dropped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath.
26 a phan ddaethant yno a gweld llif o fl, nid estynnodd neb ei law at ei geg, am fod y bobl yn ofni'r llw.
27But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.
27 Nid oedd Jonathan wedi clywed ei dad yn gwneud i'r bobl gymryd y llw, ac estynnodd y ffon oedd yn ei law a tharo'i blaen yn y diliau ml, ac yna'i chodi at ei geg; a gloywodd ei lygaid.
28Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint.
28 Yna dywedodd un o'r bobl wrtho, "Y mae dy dad wedi gosod llw caeth ar y bobl, ac wedi dweud, 'Melltigedig yw pob un sy'n bwyta tamaid heddiw'. Ac yr oedd y bobl yn lluddedig."
29Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.
29 Atebodd Jonathan, "Y mae fy nhad wedi gwneud drwg i'r wlad; edrychwch fel y gloywodd fy llygaid pan brofais fymryn o'r ml hwn.
30How much more, if haply the people had eaten freely to day of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for had there not been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?
30 Yn wir, pe bai'r bobl wedi cael rhyddid i fwyta heddiw o ysbail eu gelynion, oni fyddai'r lladdfa ymysg y Philistiaid yn drymach?"
31And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon: and the people were very faint.
31 Y diwrnod hwnnw trawyd y Philistiaid bob cam o Michmas i Ajalon, er bod y bobl wedi blino'n llwyr.
32And the people flew upon the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood.
32 Yna rhuthrodd y bobl ar yr ysbail a chymryd defaid ac ychen a lloi, a'u lladd ar y ddaear, a'u bwyta heb eu gwaedu.
33Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have transgressed: roll a great stone unto me this day.
33 Pan ddywedwyd wrth Saul, "Edrych, y mae'r bobl yn pechu yn erbyn yr ARGLWYDD wrth fwyta cig heb ei waedu", dywedodd yntau, "Yr ydych wedi troseddu; rhowliwch yma garreg fawr ar unwaith."
34And Saul said, Disperse yourselves among the people, and say unto them, Bring me hither every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and slay them here, and eat; and sin not against the LORD in eating with the blood. And all the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and slew them there.
34 Yna dywedodd Saul, "Ewch ar frys trwy ganol y bobl a dywedwch wrthynt, 'Doed pob un 'i ych neu ei ddafad ataf fi, a'u lladd yma a'u bwyta, rhag i chwi bechu yn erbyn yr ARGLWYDD trwy fwyta cig heb ei waedu'." Daeth pob un o'r bobl 'i ych gydag ef y noson honno, i'w ladd yno.
35And Saul built an altar unto the LORD: the same was the first altar that he built unto the LORD.
35 Felly y cododd Saul allor i'r ARGLWYDD, a honno oedd yr allor gyntaf iddo'i chodi i'r ARGLWYDD.
36And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.
36 Yna dywedodd Saul, "Awn i lawr ar l y Philistiaid liw nos a'u hysbeilio hyd y bore, heb adael yr un ohonynt ar l." Dywedodd y bobl, "Gwna beth bynnag a fynni." Ond dywedodd yr offeiriad, "Gadewch inni agosu yma at Dduw."
37And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day.
37 Gofynnodd Saul i Dduw, "Os af i lawr ar l y Philistiaid, a roi di hwy yn llaw Israel?" Ond ni chafodd ateb y diwrnod hwnnw.
38And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.
38 Yna dywedodd Saul, "Dewch yma, holl bennau-teuluoedd y bobl, a chwiliwch i gael gweld ymhle mae'r pechod hwn heddiw.
39For, as the LORD liveth, which saveth Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.
39 Oherwydd, cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, yr un a waredodd Israel, hyd yn oed pe byddai yn fy mab Jonathan, byddai raid iddo farw." Ond ni ddywedodd yr un o'r bobl wrtho.
40Then said he unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what seemeth good unto thee.
40 Yna dywedodd wrth yr holl Israeliaid, "Safwch chwi ar un ochr, a minnau a'm mab Jonathan ar yr ochr arall." A dywedodd y bobl wrth Saul, "Gwna fel y gweli'n dda."
41Therefore Saul said unto the LORD God of Israel, Give a perfect lot. And Saul and Jonathan were taken: but the people escaped.
41 Dywedodd Saul wrth yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel, "Pam nad atebaist dy was heddiw? Os yw'r camwedd hwn ynof fi neu yn fy mab Jonathan, O ARGLWYDD Dduw Israel, rho Wrim; ond os yw'r camwedd hwn yn dy bobl Israel, rho Twmim." Daliwyd Jonathan a Saul, ac aeth Israel yn rhydd.
42And Saul said, Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken.
42 Dywedodd Saul, "Bwriwch goelbren rhyngof fi a'm mab Jonathan." A daliwyd Jonathan.
43Then Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Jonathan told him, and said, I did but taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in mine hand, and, lo, I must die.
43 Yna dywedodd Saul wrth Jonathan, "Dywed wrthyf beth a wnaethost." Eglurodd Jonathan iddo, a dweud, "Dim ond profi mymryn o fl ar flaen y ffon oedd yn fy llaw. Dyma fi, rwy'n barod i farw."
44And Saul answered, God do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan.
44 Atebodd Saul, "Fel hyn y gwna Duw i mi, a rhagor, os na fydd Jonathan farw."
45And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.
45 Ond dyma'r bobl yn dweud wrth Saul, "A gaiff Jonathan farw, ac yntau wedi ennill y fuddugoliaeth fawr hon i Israel? Pell y bo! Cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, ni chaiff blewyn o wallt ei ben syrthio i'r llawr. Gyda Duw y gweithiodd ef y diwrnod hwn." Prynodd y bobl ryddid Jonathan, ac ni fu farw.
46Then Saul went up from following the Philistines: and the Philistines went to their own place.
46 Dychwelodd Saul o ymlid y Philistiaid, ac aeth y Philistiaid adref.
47So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them.
47 Wedi i Saul ennill y frenhiniaeth ar Israel, ymladdodd 'i holl elynion oddi amgylch Moab, yr Ammoniaid, Edom, brenhinoedd Soba a'r Philistiaid a'u darostwng ble bynnag yr i.
48And he gathered an host, and smote the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of them that spoiled them.
48 Gweithredodd yn ddewr, trawodd yr Amaleciaid, a rhyddhaodd Israel o law eu gormeswyr.
49Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishui, and Melchishua: and the names of his two daughters were these; the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal:
49 Jonathan, Isfi a Malcisua oedd meibion Saul. Enw'r hynaf o'i ddwy ferch oedd Merab, ac enw'r ieuengaf Michal.
50And the name of Saul's wife was Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz: and the name of the captain of his host was Abner, the son of Ner, Saul's uncle.
50 Ahinoam ferch Ahimaas oedd gwraig Saul, ac Abner fab Ner, ewythr Saul, oedd pennaeth ei lu.
51And Kish was the father of Saul; and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel.
51 Yr oedd Cis tad Saul a Ner tad Abner yn feibion i Abiel.
52And there was sore war against the Philistines all the days of Saul: and when Saul saw any strong man, or any valiant man, he took him unto him.
52 Bu rhyfel caled yn erbyn y Philistiaid holl ddyddiau Saul; ac os gwelai Saul u373?r cryf a dewr, fe'i cymerai ato.
