¹Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.

¹ Mynegwyd i Ddafydd fod y Philistiaid yn ymladd yn erbyn Ceila, ac yn ysbeilio'r lloriau dyrnu.

²Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

² Ymofynnodd Dafydd �'r ARGLWYDD, a oedd i fynd a tharo'r Philistiaid hyn. Dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrth Ddafydd, "Dos a tharo'r Philistiaid, ac achub Ceila."

³And David's men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

³ Ond dywedodd gwu375?r Dafydd wrtho, "Yr ydym mewn digon o ofn yma yn Jwda; pa faint mwy pan awn i Ceila, yn erbyn byddinoedd y Philistiaid?"

⁴Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

⁴ Felly ymofynnodd Dafydd eto �'r ARGLWYDD, ac atebodd yr ARGLWYDD ef, "Dos i lawr i Ceila, oherwydd rhoddaf y Philistiaid yn dy law."

⁵So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

⁵ Felly fe aeth Dafydd a'i wu375?r i Ceila ac ymladd �'r Philistiaid, a mynd �'u gwartheg ymaith, a gwneud lladdfa fawr yn eu mysg hwy; ac achubodd Dafydd drigolion Ceila.

⁶And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

⁶ Pan ffodd Abiathar fab Ahimelech at Ddafydd i Ceila, daeth �'r effod i lawr gydag ef.

⁷And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.

⁷ A phan fynegwyd i Saul fod Dafydd wedi mynd i Ceila, dywedodd Saul, "Y mae Duw wedi ei roi yn fy llaw, oherwydd y mae wedi cau amdano wrth fynd i ddinas ac iddi byrth a barrau."

⁸And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

⁸ Galwodd Saul yr holl bobl i ryfel, ac i fynd i lawr i Ceila i warchae ar Ddafydd a'i wu375?r.

⁹And David knew that Saul secretly practiced mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

⁹ Pan ddeallodd Dafydd fod Saul yn cynllunio drwg yn ei erbyn, dywedodd wrth yr offeiriad Abiathar, "Estyn yr effod."

¹⁰Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

¹⁰ Yna dywedodd Dafydd, "O ARGLWYDD Dduw Israel, y mae dy was wedi clywed yn bendant fod Saul yn ceisio dod i Ceila i ddinistrio'r dref o'm hachos i.

¹¹Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.

¹¹ A fydd awdurdodau Ceila yn fy rhoi iddo? A ddaw Saul i lawr fel y clywodd dy was? O ARGLWYDD Dduw Israel, rho ateb i'th was." Atebodd yr ARGLWYDD, "Fe ddaw."

¹²Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.

¹² Yna gofynnodd Dafydd, "A fydd awdurdodau Ceila yn fy rhoi i a'm gwu375?r yn llaw Saul?" Atebodd yr ARGLWYDD, "Byddant." Yna cododd Dafydd gyda'i wu375?r, tua chwe chant ohonynt, ac aethant o Ceila a symud o le i le.

¹³Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.

¹³ Pan ddywedwyd wrth Saul fod Dafydd wedi dianc o Ceila, peidiodd � chychwyn allan.

¹⁴And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

¹⁴ Tra oedd Dafydd yn byw mewn llochesau yn y diffeithwch ac yn aros yn y mynydd-dir yn niffeithwch Siff, yr oedd Saul yn chwilio amdano trwy'r adeg, ond ni roddodd Duw ef yn ei law.

¹⁵And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.

¹⁵ Yr oedd Dafydd yn gweld mai dod allan i geisio'i fywyd yr oedd Saul; felly arhosodd Dafydd yn Hores yn niffeithwch Siff.

¹⁶And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

¹⁶ Aeth Jonathan fab Saul draw i Hores at Ddafydd a'i galonogi trwy Dduw

¹⁷And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.

¹⁷ a dweud wrtho, "Paid ag ofni; ni ddaw fy nhad Saul o hyd iti; byddi di'n frenin ar Israel a minnau'n ail iti, ac y mae fy nhad Saul yn gwybod hynny'n iawn."

¹⁸And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

¹⁸ Gwnaethant gyfamod ill dau gerbron yr ARGLWYDD; arhosodd Dafydd yn Hores, ac aeth Jonathan adref.

¹⁹Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

¹⁹ Aeth pobl Siff at Saul i Gibea a dweud, "Onid yw Dafydd yn ymguddio yn ein hardal, yn llochesau Hores ym mryniau Hachila i'r de o Jesimon?

²⁰Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand.

²⁰ Pryd bynnag yr wyt ti'n dymuno, O frenin, tyrd i lawr, a rhown ninnau ef yn llaw'r brenin."

²¹And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me.

²¹ Ac meddai Saul, "Bendigedig fyddoch gan yr ARGLWYDD am ichwi drugarhau wrthyf.

²²Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.

²² Ewch yn awr a gwneud yn sicr eto; ceisiwch wybod a gwylio'i lwybrau, a phwy a'i gwelodd yno. Dywedir wrthyf ei fod yn un cyfrwys iawn.

²³See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.

²³ Wedi ichwi weld a gwybod ym mha un o'r holl guddfannau y mae'n ymguddio, dewch yn �l ataf pan fyddwch yn sicr, a dof finnau gyda chwi. Cyhyd �'i fod yn y wlad, fe chwiliaf amdano ym mhob man, ie, trwy holl lwythau Jwda."

²⁴And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

²⁴ Aethant yn �l i Siff cyn i Saul gyrraedd, ac yr oedd Dafydd a'i wu375?r yn niffeithwch Maon, yn yr Araba i'r de o Jesimon.

²⁵Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David; wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

²⁵ Yna daeth Saul a'i wu375?r i geisio Dafydd, ond dywedwyd wrth Ddafydd, ac aeth yntau i lawr i'r creigiau ac arhosodd yn niffeithwch Maon.

²⁶And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

²⁶ Clywodd Saul, ac aeth i erlid Dafydd i ddiffeithwch Maon; ac yr oedd ef yn mynd ar hyd un ochr i'r mynydd, a Dafydd a'i wu375?r ar hyd yr ochr arall. Fel yr oedd Dafydd yn brysio i osgoi Saul, a Saul a'i wu375?r yn cau am Ddafydd a'i wu375?r i'w dal,

²⁷But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.

²⁷ cyrhaeddodd negesydd a dweud wrth Saul, "Tyrd ar unwaith, oherwydd y mae'r Philistiaid wedi ymosod ar y wlad."

²⁸Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.

²⁸ Felly peidiodd Saul ag ymlid Dafydd, ac aeth i wrthwynebu'r Philistiaid.

²⁹And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.

²⁹ Dyna pam yr enwyd y lle hwnnw Sela Hammalecoth. Aeth Dafydd i fyny oddi yno a byw yn llochesau En-gedi.
