Exodus

21

1Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.
1 "Dyma'r deddfau yr wyt i'w gosod o flaen y bobl:
2If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
2 "Pan bryni Hebrwr yn gaethwas, y mae i roi chwe blynedd o wasanaeth, ac yn y seithfed caiff fynd yn rhydd heb dalu.
3If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
3 Os daeth i mewn ei hun, caiff fynd ymaith ei hun, ond os oedd yn briod, caiff ei wraig fynd ymaith gydag ef.
4If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.
4 Os rhydd ei feistr wraig iddo, a hithau'n esgor ar feibion neu ferched iddo, bydd y wraig a'i phlant yn eiddo i'r meistr, ac y mae'r caethwas i fynd ymaith ei hun.
5And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
5 Ond os dywed y caethwas, 'Yr wyf yn caru fy meistr a'm gwraig a'm plant, ac nid wyf am fynd ymaith',
6Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever.
6 yna y mae ei feistr i ddod ag ef at Dduw, a'i ddwyn at y drws neu'r cilbost, a thyllu trwy ei glust mynawyd; wedyn, bydd y caethwas yn ei wasanaethu am byth.
7And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.
7 "Pan yw gu373?r yn gwerthu ei ferch i gaethiwed, ni chaiff hi fynd yn rhydd fel y gweision caeth.
8If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.
8 Os nad yw'n boddhau ei meistr, ac yntau wedi ei neilltuo iddo'i hun, gadawer iddi gael ei phrynu'n l; ond nid oes ganddo'r hawl i'w gwerthu i estroniaid, gan ei fod wedi torri cytundeb hi.
9And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.
9 Os yw wedi ei neilltuo ar gyfer ei fab, y mae i'w thrin fel ei ferch ei hun.
10If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.
10 Os yw'r meistr yn priodi gwraig arall, nid yw i leihau dim ar fwyd y gaethferch na'i dillad na'i hawliau priodasol.
11And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.
11 Os yw'n methu yn un o'r tri pheth hyn, caiff y gaethferch fynd ymaith heb dalu dim arian.
12He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
12 "Pwy bynnag sy'n taro rhywun a'i ladd, rhodder ef i farwolaeth.
13And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.
13 Os na chynlluniodd hynny, ond bod Duw wedi ei roi yn ei afael, caiff ffoi i'r lle a neilltuaf iti.
14But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbor, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
14 Os bydd rhywun yn ymosod yn fwriadol ar ei gymydog a'i ladd trwy frad, dos ag ef ymaith oddi wrth fy allor a'i roi i farwolaeth.
15And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.
15 "Pwy bynnag sy'n taro'i dad neu ei fam, rhodder ef i farwolaeth.
16And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
16 "Pwy bynnag sy'n cipio rhywun i'w werthu neu i'w gadw yn ei feddiant, rhodder ef i farwolaeth.
17And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.
17 "Pwy bynnag sy'n melltithio'i dad neu ei fam, rhodder ef i farwolaeth.
18And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:
18 "Pan yw rhai'n cweryla, ac un yn taro'r llall charreg neu 'i ddwrn, a hwnnw'n gaeth i'w wely, ond heb farw,
19If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.
19 ac yna'n codi ac yn cerdded oddi amgylch 'i ffon, ystyrier y sawl a'i trawodd yn ddieuog; nid oes rhaid iddo ond ei ddigolledu am ei waith, a gofalu ei fod yn holliach.
20And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
20 "Pan yw rhywun yn taro'i gaethwas neu ei gaethferch ffon, a'r caeth yn marw yn y fan, cosber y sawl a'i tarodd.
21Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.
21 Ond os yw'r caeth yn byw am ddiwrnod neu ddau, na fydded cosbi, oherwydd ei eiddo ef ydyw.
22If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
22 "Pan yw dynion wrth ymladd 'i gilydd yn taro gwraig feichiog, a hithau'n colli ei phlentyn, ond heb gael niwed pellach, y mae'r dyn i dalu'r ddirwy sy'n ddyledus i'w gu373?r ac a bennwyd gan y barnwyr.
23And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
23 Ond os bu niwed pellach, yr wyt i hawlio bywyd am fywyd,
24Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
24 llygad am lygad, dant am ddant, llaw am law, troed am droed,
25Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
25 llosgiad am losgiad, clwyf am glwyf, a chlais am glais.
26And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.
26 "Pan yw rhywun yn taro llygad ei gaethwas neu ei gaethferch, a'i ddifetha, y mae i ollwng y caeth yn rhydd o achos y llygad.
27And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.
27 Os yw'n taro allan ddant ei gaethwas neu ei gaethferch, y mae i ollwng y caeth yn rhydd o achos y dant.
28If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.
28 "Pan yw ych yn cornio gu373?r neu wraig i farwolaeth, llabyddier yr ych, ac nid yw ei gig i'w fwyta; ond ystyrier y perchennog yn ddieuog.
29But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.
29 Ond os bu'r ych yn cornio yn y gorffennol, a'r perchennog wedi ei rybuddio ond eto heb gadw'r ych dan reolaeth, a hwnnw'n lladd gu373?r neu wraig, llabyddier yr ych a rhoi ei berchennog i farwolaeth.
30If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.
30 Os pennir pridwerth, y mae i dalu am ei fywyd yn llawn yn l y pridwerth a bennir.
31Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.
31 Os yw'r ych yn cornio mab neu ferch, y mae'r un rheol yn dal.
32If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
32 Os yw'r ych yn cornio caethwas neu gaethferch, y mae ei berchennog i dalu i'r meistr ddeg sicl ar hugain o arian, ac y mae'r ych i'w labyddio.
33And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein;
33 "Pan yw rhywun yn gadael pydew ar agor, neu'n cloddio pydew a heb ei gau, ac ych neu asyn yn syrthio iddo,
34The owner of the pit shall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them; and the dead beast shall be his.
34 y mae perchen y pydew i wneud iawn amdano trwy dalu arian i berchen yr anifail; ond ei eiddo ef fydd yr anifail marw.
35And if one man's ox hurt another's, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead ox also they shall divide.
35 "Pan yw ych rhywun yn cornio ac yn lladd ych ei gymydog, yna y maent i werthu'r ych byw, a rhannu'r arian a geir amdano; y maent hefyd i rannu'r ych marw.
36Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.
36 Ond os yw'n hysbys fod yr ych wedi cornio yn y gorffennol, a'i berchennog heb ei gadw dan reolaeth, y mae ef i dalu'n l yn llawn, a rhoi ych am ych; ond ei eiddo ef fydd yr anifail marw.
