¹And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

¹ Dechreuodd yr holl gynulliad weiddi'n uchel, a bu'r bobl yn wylo trwy'r noson honno.

²And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

² Yr oedd yr Israeliaid i gyd yn grwgnach yn erbyn Moses ac Aaron, a dywedodd y cynulliad wrthynt, "O na buasem wedi marw yng ngwlad yr Aifft neu yn yr anialwch hwn!

³And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

³ Pam y mae'r ARGLWYDD yn mynd � ni i'r wlad hon lle byddwn yn syrthio trwy fin y cleddyf, a lle bydd ein gwragedd a'n plant yn ysbail? Oni fyddai'n well inni ddychwelyd i'r Aifft?"

⁴And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

⁴ Dywedasant wrth ei gilydd, "Dewiswn un yn ben arnom, a dychwelwn i'r Aifft."

⁵Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.

⁵ Yna ymgrymodd Moses ac Aaron o flaen holl aelodau cynulliad pobl Israel.

⁶And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

⁶ Dechreuodd Josua fab Nun a Caleb fab Jeffunne, a fu'n ysb�o'r wlad, rwygo'u dillad,

⁷And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

⁷ a dweud wrth holl gynulliad pobl Israel, "Y mae'r wlad yr aethom drwyddi i'w hysb�o yn wlad dda iawn.

⁸If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

⁸ Os bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn fodlon arnom, fe'n harwain i mewn i'r wlad hon sy'n llifeirio o laeth a m�l, a'i rhoi inni.

⁹Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.

⁹ Ond peidiwch � gwrthryfela yn erbyn yr ARGLWYDD, a pheidiwch ag ofni trigolion y wlad, oherwydd byddant yn ysglyfaeth i ni. Y mae'r ARGLWYDD gyda ni, ond y maent hwy yn ddiamddiffyn; felly peidiwch �'u hofni."

¹⁰But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

¹⁰ Tra oedd yr holl Israeliaid yn s�n am eu llabyddio, ymddangosodd gogoniant yr ARGLWYDD iddynt ym mhabell y cyfarfod.

¹¹And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have showed among them?

¹¹ Dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrth Moses, "Am ba hyd y bydd y bobl hyn yn fy nilorni? Ac am ba hyd y byddant yn gwrthod credu ynof, er yr holl arwyddion a wneuthum yn eu plith?

¹²I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.

¹² Trawaf hwy � haint a'u gwasgaru, ond fe'th wnaf di'n genedl fwy a chryfach na hwy."

¹³And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)

¹³ Dywedodd Moses wrth yr ARGLWYDD, "Oni ddaw'r Eifftiaid i glywed am hyn, gan mai o'u plith hwy y daethost �'r bobl yma allan �'th nerth dy hun?

¹⁴And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.

¹⁴ Ac oni ddywedant hwy wrth drigolion y wlad hon? Y maent wedi clywed dy fod di, ARGLWYDD, gyda'r bobl hyn, ac yn ymddangos iddynt wyneb yn wyneb, a bod dy gwmwl yn aros drostynt, a'th fod yn eu harwain mewn colofn o niwl yn y dydd a cholofn o d�n yn y nos.

¹⁵Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,

¹⁵ Yn awr, os lleddi'r bobl hyn ag un ergyd, bydd y cenhedloedd sydd wedi clywed s�n amdanat yn dweud,

¹⁶Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.

¹⁶ 'Lladdodd yr ARGLWYDD y bobl hyn yn yr anialwch am na fedrai ddod � hwy i'r wlad y tyngodd lw ei rhoi iddynt.'

¹⁷And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,

¹⁷ Felly erfyniaf ar i nerth yr ARGLWYDD gynyddu, fel yr addewaist pan ddywedaist,

¹⁸The LORD is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.

¹⁸ 'Y mae'r ARGLWYDD yn araf i ddigio ac yn llawn o drugaredd, yn maddau drygioni a gwrthryfel; eto, heb adael yr euog yn ddi-gosb, y mae'n cosbi'r plant am droseddau'r tadau hyd y drydedd a'r bedwaredd genhedlaeth.'

¹⁹Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

¹⁹ Yn �l dy drugaredd fawr, maddau ddrygioni'r bobl hyn, fel yr wyt wedi maddau iddynt o ddyddiau'r Aifft hyd yn awr."

²⁰And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word:

²⁰ Atebodd yr ARGLWYDD, "Yr wyf wedi maddau iddynt, yn �l dy ddymuniad;

²¹But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.

²¹ ond yn awr, cyn wired �'m bod yn fyw a bod gogoniant yr ARGLWYDD yn llenwi'r holl ddaear,

²²Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

²² ni fydd yr un o'r rhai a welodd fy ngogoniant a'r arwyddion a wneuthum yn yr Aifft ac yn yr anialwch, ond a wrthododd wrando arnaf a'm profi y dengwaith hyn,

²³Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:

²³ yn cael gweld y wlad y tyngais ei rhoi i'w hynafiaid; ac ni fydd neb o'r rhai a fu'n fy nilorni yn ei gweld ychwaith.

²⁴But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

²⁴ Ond y mae ysbryd gwahanol yn fy ngwas Caleb, ac am iddo fy nilyn yn llwyr, arweiniaf ef i'r wlad y bu eisoes i mewn ynddi, a bydd ei ddisgynyddion yn ei meddiannu.

²⁵(Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) Tomorrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

²⁵ Yn awr, am fod yr Amaleciaid a'r Canaaneaid yn byw yn y dyffryn, yr ydych i ddychwelyd yfory i'r anialwch a cherdded ar hyd ffordd y M�r Coch."

²⁶And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

²⁶ Yna dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrth Moses ac Aaron,

²⁷How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

²⁷ "Am ba hyd y bydd y cynulliad drygionus hwn yn grwgnach yn f'erbyn? Yr wyf wedi clywed grwgnach pobl Israel yn f'erbyn;

²⁸Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:

²⁸ felly dywed wrthynt: 'Cyn wired �'m bod yn fyw,' medd yr ARGLWYDD, 'fe wnaf i chwi yr hyn a ddywedasoch yn fy nghlyw:

²⁹Your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me.

²⁹ bydd pob un ugain oed a throsodd, a rifwyd yn y cyfrifiad ac sydd wedi grwgnach yn f'erbyn, yn syrthio'n farw yn yr anialwch hwn.

³⁰Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

³⁰ Ni chaiff yr un ohonoch ddod i mewn i'r wlad y tyngais lw y byddech yn byw ynddi, heblaw Caleb fab Jeffunne a Josua fab Nun.

³¹But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.

³¹ Ond am eich plant, y dywedasoch chwi y byddent yn ysbail, dof � hwy i mewn i ddarostwng y wlad yr ydych chwi wedi ei dirmygu,

³²But as for you, your carcasses, they shall fall in this wilderness.

³² tra byddwch chwi'n syrthio'n farw yn yr anialwch.

³³And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcasses be wasted in the wilderness.

³³ Bydd eich plant yn crwydro'r anialwch am ddeugain mlynedd ac yn dioddef am eich anffyddlondeb chwi, nes i'r olaf ohonoch farw yn yr anialwch.

³⁴After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

³⁴ Am ddeugain mlynedd, sef blwyddyn am bob un o'r deugain diwrnod y buoch yn ysb�o'r wlad, byddwch yn dioddef am eich drygioni ac yn gwybod am fy nigofaint.'

³⁵I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

³⁵ Myfi, yr ARGLWYDD, a lefarodd; byddaf yn sicr o wneud hyn i bob un o'r cynulliad drygionus hwn sydd wedi cynllwyn yn f'erbyn. Y mae'r diwedd ar eu gwarthaf, a byddant farw yn yr anialwch hwn."

³⁶And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land,

³⁶ Felly, am y dynion a anfonodd Moses i ysb�o'r wlad, sef y rhai a ddychwelodd �'r adroddiad gwael amdani, a pheri i'r holl gynulliad rwgnach yn ei erbyn,

³⁷Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

³⁷ eu tynged oedd marw trwy bla gerbron yr ARGLWYDD.

³⁸But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.

³⁸ Ond o'r dynion hynny a aeth i ysb�o'r wlad, cafodd Josua fab Nun a Caleb fab Jeffunne fyw.

³⁹And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.

³⁹ Pan ddywedodd Moses hyn wrth yr holl Israeliaid, dechreuodd y bobl alaru'n ddirfawr.

⁴⁰And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned.

⁴⁰ Codasant yn fore drannoeth a dringo i'r mynydd-dir, a dweud, "Edrychwch, awn i fyny i'r lle y dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD amdano; oherwydd yr ydym wedi pechu."

⁴¹And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper.

⁴¹ Ond dywedodd Moses, "Pam yr ydych yn troseddu yn erbyn gorchymyn yr ARGLWYDD? Ni fyddwch yn llwyddo.

⁴²Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies.

⁴² Peidiwch � mynd i fyny rhag i'ch gelynion eich difa, oherwydd nid yw'r ARGLWYDD gyda chwi.

⁴³For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.

⁴³ Y mae'r Amaleciaid a'r Canaaneaid o'ch blaen, a byddwch yn syrthio trwy fin y cleddyf; ni fydd yr ARGLWYDD gyda chwi, am eich bod wedi cefnu arno."

⁴⁴But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.

⁴⁴ Eto, yr oeddent yn benderfynol o ddringo i'r mynydd-dir, er nad aeth Moses nac arch cyfamod yr ARGLWYDD allan o'r gwersyll.

⁴⁵Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.

⁴⁵ Yna daeth yr Amaleciaid a'r Canaaneaid a oedd yn byw yn y mynydd-dir hwnnw i lawr yn eu herbyn, a'u herlid hyd Horma.
