1Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions:
1Een lied Hammaaloth. O HEERE! gedenk aan David, aan al zijn lijden;
2How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;
2Dat hij den HEERE gezworen heeft, den Machtige Jakobs gelofte gedaan heeft, zeggende:
3Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;
3Zo ik in de tent mijns huizes inga, zo ik op de koets van mijn bed klimme!
4I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,
4Zo ik mijn ogen slaap geve, mijn oogleden sluimering;
5Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
5Totdat ik voor den HEERE een plaats gevonden zal hebben, woningen voor den Machtige Jakobs!
6Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.
6Ziet, wij hebben van haar gehoord in Efratha; wij hebben haar gevonden in de velden van Jaar.
7We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.
7Wij zullen in Zijn woningen ingaan, wij zullen ons nederbuigen voor de voetbank Zijner voeten.
8Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
8Sta op, HEERE! tot Uw rust, Gij en de ark Uwer sterkte!
9Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.
9Dat Uw priesters bekleed worden met gerechtigheid, en dat Uw gunstgenoten juichen.
10For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.
10Weer het aangezicht Uws Gezalfden niet af, om Davids, Uws knechts wil.
11The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
11De HEERE heeft David de waarheid gezworen, waarvan Hij niet wijken zal, zeggende: Van de vrucht uws buiks zal Ik op uw troon zetten.
12If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.
12Indien uw zonen Mijn verbond zullen houden, en Mijn getuigenissen, die Ik hun leren zal; zo zullen ook hun zonen tot in eeuwigheid op uw troon zitten.
13For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
13Want de HEERE heeft Sion verkoren, Hij heeft het begeerd tot Zijn woonplaats, zeggende:
14This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
14Dit is Mijn rust tot in eeuwigheid, hier zal Ik wonen, want Ik heb ze begeerd.
15I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
15Ik zal haar kost rijkelijk zegenen, haar nooddruftigen zal Ik met brood verzadigen.
16I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
16En haar priesters zal Ik met heil bekleden, en haar gunstgenoten zullen zeer juichen.
17There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.
17Daar zal Ik David een hoorn doen uitspruiten; Ik heb voor Mijn Gezalfde een lamp toegericht.
18His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
18Ik zal zijn vijanden met schaamte bekleden; maar op hem zal zijn kroon bloeien.
