¹The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

¹Taaveti laul. Issand on mu valgus ja mu pääste, keda ma peaksin kartma? Issand on mu elu võimas kaitse, kelle ees ma peaksin värisema?

²When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

²Kui kurjategijad tulevad mu kallale mu liha sööma, mu rõhujad ja mu vaenlased, siis nad komistavad ja kukuvad.

³Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

³Kui sõjavägi seab leeri mu vastu, ei karda mu süda; kui sõda puhkeb mu vastu, selleski ma loodan tema peale.

⁴One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

⁴Ühte ma olen palunud Issandalt; seda ma üksnes nõuan, et ma saaksin asuda Issanda kojas kogu oma eluaja ning tähele panna Issanda leebust ja mõtiskleda tema templis.

⁵For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

⁵Sest ta peidab mind oma majasse kurjal ajal, ta peab mind salajas oma telgi pelgupaigas, ta tõstab mu üles kaljule.

⁶And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

⁶Nüüd kerkib mu pea üle mu vaenlaste, kes mu ümber on, ja ma tahan tema telgis ohverdada hõiskamisohvreid, ma tahan laulda ja mängida Issandale!

⁷Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

⁷Issand, kuule mu häält, kui ma hüüan; ole mulle armuline ja vasta mulle!

⁸When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

⁸Sinu sõna on see, mida mu süda ütleb: 'Otsige mu palet!' Siis ma otsin, Issand, sinu palet.

⁹Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

⁹Ära peida oma palet minu eest, ära tõuka enesest vihas oma sulast! Sina olid mu abi, ära lükka mind ära, ja ära hülga mind, mu pääste Jumal!

¹⁰When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

¹⁰Sest mu isa ja ema hülgasid minu, aga Issand võtab mu üles.

¹¹Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

¹¹Õpeta mind, Issand, oma teele ja juhata mind tasasele teerajale mu vaenlaste pärast!

¹²Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

¹²Ära anna mind mu rõhujate meelevalda; sest mu vastu on tõusnud valetunnistajad, kes turtsuvad vägivallast!

¹³I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

¹³Ometi ma usun, et saan näha Issanda headust elavate maal.

¹⁴Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

¹⁴Oota Issandat, ole vahva, ja su süda olgu kindel! Oh, oota Issandat!
