¹Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

¹Minulle tuli tämä Herran sana:

²Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.

²-- Ihminen, näin sanoo Herra Jumala Israelin maalle: Loppu on tullut. Se kohtaa maan, kaikki sen neljä äärtä.

³Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.

³Sinun loppusi on nyt tullut, Israel, minä syöksen sinuun vihani. Minä tuomitsen sinut vaelluksesi mukaan, käännän iljettävät tekosi sinua itseäsi vastaan.

⁴And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

⁴Minun katseessani ei ole sääliä, minä en sinulle armoa anna. Minä rankaisen sinua vaelluksesi mukaan, omat iljettävät tekosi saat osaksesi. Näin te tulette tietämään, että minä olen Herra.

⁵Thus saith the Lord GOD; An evil, an only evil, behold, is come.

⁵Näin sanoo Herra Jumala: -- Onnettomuuksien onnettomuus! Se on tullut,

⁶An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it is come.

⁶loppu on tullut. Sinä kohtaat loppusi, se on nyt tullut.

⁷The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains.

⁷Nyt on sinun tuhosi hetki, maan asukas. Aika on tullut, päivä on lähellä. Sekasorto vallitsee, vuorilta ei ilohuutoja kuulu.

⁸Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.

⁸Minun suuttumukseni tulvii ylitsesi, minä tyhjennän kaiken vihani sinuun. Minä tuomitsen sinut vaelluksesi mukaan, käännän iljettävät tekosi sinua itseäsi vastaan.

⁹And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth.

⁹Minun katseessani ei ole sääliä, minä en sinulle armoa anna. Minä rankaisen sinua vaelluksesi mukaan, omat iljettävät tekosi saat osaksesi. Näin te tulette tietämään, kuka teitä lyö: se olen minä, Herra.

¹⁰Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.

¹⁰Nyt on se päivä. Nyt on tullut, nyt on ehtinyt tuhon hetki. Vääryys kukoistaa, julkeus rehottaa,

¹¹Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of their's: neither shall there be wailing for them.

¹¹jumalattomien väkivalta versoo. Ei jää heistä jäljelle mitään, ei heidän korskeasta joukostaan, ei heidän remuisista juhlistaan.

¹²The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

¹²Se aika on tullut, se päivä on nyt! Älköön ostaja iloitko, älköön myyjä murehtiko. Kaikkea kohtaa Herran viha.

¹³For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, which shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.

¹³Myyjä ei palaa myymälleen maalle, vaikka vielä olisikin elossa. Näin käy heille, tämä ennustus ei raukea. Kukaan ei voi turvata elämäänsä, sillä he ovat rikkoneet minua vastaan.

¹⁴They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

¹⁴Puhaltakoot torveen, sonnustautukoot sotaan, kukaan ei kuitenkaan taisteluun lähde, sillä minun vihani hehku kohtaa koko tuon joukon.

¹⁵The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.

¹⁵Ulkona miekka, sisällä rutto ja nälkä. Joka on kedolla, kaatuu miekkaan, joka on kaupungissa, nääntyy nälkään ja ruttoon.

¹⁶But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity.

¹⁶Ja jos jotkut heistä pelastuvat ja lähtevät vuorille pakoon, he ovat siellä peloissaan kuin laakson kyyhkyt, vaikertavat kaikki syntiensä tähden.

¹⁷All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water.

¹⁷Heidän kätensä käyvät hervottomiksi, heidän polvensa tutisevat pelosta.

¹⁸They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.

¹⁸He vyöttäytyvät katujan karkeaan pukuun ja ajavat päänsä paljaaksi. Kauhu saa heidät vapisemaan, ja kaikkien kasvoilla kuvastuu häpeä.

¹⁹They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

¹⁹He viskaavat hopeansa kadulle, heidän kullastaan tulee arvotonta rojua. Ei heitä pelasta kulta, ei hopea Herran vihan päivänä. Ei niistä ole tyydyttämään heidän nälkäänsä, ei täyttämään heidän vatsaansa. Juuri niiden tähden he ovat langenneet.

²⁰As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them.

²⁰Prameat korut ovat olleet heidän ylpeytensä, kullasta ja hopeasta he ovat tehneet iljettävät patsaansa. Sen tähden minä muutan heidän kalleutensa rojuksi.

²¹And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it.

²¹Minä annan ne vieraiden ryöstettäviksi, annan ne jumalattomien saaliiksi, ja ne saastuvat muukalaisten käsissä.

²²My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my secret place: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it.

²²Minä käännän kasvoni heistä pois, ja muukalaiset saastuttavat ihanan huoneeni, rosvot astuvat sisään ja häpäisevät sen.

²³Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

²³He panevat toimeen verilöylyn -- tässä maassa, joka jo on täynnä verta, tässä kaupungissa, joka on täynnä väkivaltaa.

²⁴Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.

²⁴Minä tuon kansoista pahimmat, ja ne valtaavat heidän talonsa. Minä teen lopun heidän voimantunnostaan, ja heidän pyhät paikkansa häväistään.

²⁵Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.

²⁵Ahdinko tulee, turhaan ihmiset etsivät turvaa.

²⁶Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients.

²⁶Tulee onnettomuus onnettomuuden perään, tuhon viesti tuhon viestin perään. Turhaan ihmiset anelevat profeetalta näkyä, papista ei ole opastajaksi, vanhimmilta loppuvat neuvot.

²⁷The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

²⁷Kuningas menettää toivonsa, ruhtinas on kauhun vallassa, pelko herpaannuttaa kansalaisten kädet. Minä annan heille heidän vaelluksensa mukaan, minä tuomitsen heidät niin kuin he ovat toisia tuominneet. He tulevat tietämään, että minä olen Herra.
