¹Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,

¹Herra sanoi minulle: "Mene Juudan kuninkaan palatsiin ja puhu siellä näin:

²And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:

²Kuulkaa, mitä Herra sanoo! Tämän hän sanoo sinulle, Juudan kuningas, joka istut Daavidin valtaistuimella, sinun palvelijoillesi ja kansallesi -- teille kaikille, jotka kuljette näistä porteista:

³Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

³Tehkää, mitä oikeus ja vanhurskaus vaativat! Pelastakaa riistetty riistäjän käsistä. Älkää sortako muukalaisia, orpoja ja leskiä, älkää tehkö vääryyttä kenellekään. Älkää vuodattako tässä maassa viattomien ihmisten verta.

⁴For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

⁴Jos te tottelette minua, niin vastaisuudessakin tämän palatsin porteista kulkee Daavidin valtaistuimella istuvia kuninkaita. He tulevat hoviväkensä kanssa, vaunuilla ja hevosilla ajaen, ja myös heidän kansansa tulee tänne.

⁵But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

⁵Mutta jos te ette kuuntele, mitä minä teille sanon, tästä palatsista tulee rauniokasa -- sen minä vannon oman nimeni kautta, sanoo Herra!

⁶For thus saith the LORD unto the king's house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

⁶-- Näin sanoo Herra Juudan kuningashuoneelle: Sinä olet ollut uljas kuin Gilead, kuin Libanonin vuorten huiput. Mutta totisesti minä teen sinut autiomaaksi, asumattomien kaupunkien kaltaiseksi.

⁷And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

⁷Minä määrään tuhoojat sinun kimppuusi. He tulevat kirveineen, kaatavat komeat setrisi ja heittävät ne tuleen.

⁸And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

⁸"Monien maiden ihmiset kulkevat aikojen kuluessa tämän kaupungin ohi ja kyselevät: 'Miksi Herra on tehnyt näin tälle suurelle kaupungille?'

⁹Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.

⁹Heille vastataan: 'Sen asukkaat hylkäsivät Herran, Jumalansa, liiton. He rukoilivat ja palvelivat muita jumalia.'

¹⁰Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.

¹⁰-- Älkää itkekö kuollutta, älkää valittako hänen kohtaloaan! Itkekää häntä, joka viedään pois, joka ei enää palaa, ei näe enää synnyinmaataan."

¹¹For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:

¹¹Näin sanoo Herra Sallumista, Juudan kuninkaasta, josta tuli hallitsija isänsä Josian jälkeen ja joka vietiin pois tästä maasta: "Hän ei enää palaa tänne!

¹²But he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more.

¹²Hän kuolee siellä, minne hänet on vankina viety, eikä hän koskaan enää näe tätä maata."

¹³Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;

¹³-- Voi sinua, joka rakennat talosi vääryydellä, yläsalisi ilman oikeutta, joka panet miehet työhön mutta et maksa heille palkkaa!

¹⁴That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.

¹⁴Sinä sanot: "Minä teen itselleni ison palatsin, avarat yläsalit, laitan talooni ikkunat, paneloin sen setripuulla ja maalaan punavärillä."

¹⁵Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?

¹⁵Siinäkö sinä näytät kuninkuutesi, että sinulla on komeat setrilaudat? Kyllähän isäsikin söi ja joi kyllikseen, mutta silti hän huolehti siitä, että maassa vallitsi oikeus ja vanhurskaus. Siksi hänen kävi hyvin.

¹⁶He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD.

¹⁶Hän puolusti kurjan ja köyhän oikeutta, ja siksi kaikki oli silloin hyvin. Joka näin tekee, hän tuntee minut, sanoo Herra.

¹⁷But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

¹⁷Mutta sinun silmäsi ja sydämesi eivät tavoittele muuta kuin omaa voittoasi, viattomien veren vuodatusta, sortoa ja väkivaltaa!

¹⁸Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

¹⁸Sen tähden Herra sanoo Juudan kuninkaasta Jojakimista, Josian pojasta, näin: -- Ei hänelle pidetä valittajaisia, ei kuulu huutoja: "Voi veljeni! Voi sisareni!" Kukaan ei häntä itke, ei huuda: "Voi herraamme! Voi hänen loistoaan!"

¹⁹He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

¹⁹Hänet kuopataan kuin aasi, hänen ruumiinsa raahataan pois ja paiskataan Jerusalemin porteista ulos.

²⁰Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

²⁰-- Nouse, Jerusalem, Libanonin vuorille, huuda ja valita! Anna äänesi kaikua Basanissa, huuda Abarimin vuorilta, sillä kaikki sinun rakastajasi on murskattu!

²¹I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.

²¹Minä puhuin sinulle jo silloin, kun vielä elit rauhassa, mutta sinä sanoit: "En kuuntele!" Nuoruudestasi asti olet aina kieltäytynyt kuuntelemasta minua.

²²The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

²²Myrsky nousee ja vie paimenesi, rakastajasi kulkevat vankeuteen. Sinä saat häpeän ja pilkan palkaksi pahuudestasi.

²³O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

²³Sinun asuinpaikkasi on nyt kuin Libanon, olet rakentanut pesäsi setripuihin. Mutta kuinka voihkitkaan, kun sinulle tulevat kivut kuin synnyttäjälle tuskat!

²⁴As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;

²⁴"Niin totta kuin minä elän", sanoo Herra, "vaikka sinä Konja -- Jojakimin poika, Juudan kuningas -- olisit sinettisormus oikeassa kädessäni, minä repisin sinut irti!

²⁵And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

²⁵Minä annan sinut niiden käsiin, jotka tavoittelevat henkeäsi ja joita sinä pelkäät: Babylonian kuninkaan Nebukadnessarin ja kaldealaisten käsiin.

²⁶And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.

²⁶Vieraaseen maahan minä heitän sinut ja äitisi, joka sinut synnytti. Siellä te ette ole syntyneet, mutta sinne te kuolette.

²⁷But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.

²⁷Tähän maahan te ette koskaan enää palaa, vaikka tänne te aina kaipaatte."

²⁸Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?

²⁸Onko tämä mies, Konja, todellakin kelvoton, rikkinäinen saviruukku, astia, joka ei kenellekään kelpaa? Miksi hänet ja hänen jälkeläisensä heitetään pois, viskataan maahan, jota he eivät tunne?

²⁹O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

²⁹-- Maa, maa, maa! Kuule, mitä Herra sanoo!

³⁰Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

³⁰Näin sanoo Herra: -- Kirjoittakaa aikakirjoihin tästä miehestä: "Ei perillistä. Mies, jolla ei ollut menestystä." Yksikään hänen jälkeläisistään ei koskaan pääse Daavidin valtaistuimelle hallitsemaan Juudaa.
