¹And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

¹Als aber Atalia, die Mutter Ahasias, sah, daß ihr Sohn tot war, machte sie sich auf und brachte allen königlichen Samen um.

²But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

²Joscheba aber, die Tochter des Königs Joram, Ahasias Schwester, nahm Joas, den Sohn Ahasias, und stahl in weg aus der Mitte der Königssöhne, die getötet wurden, und tat ihn samt seiner Amme in eine Schlafkammer; und sie verbargen ihn vor Atalia, daß er nicht getötet wurde.

³And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

³Und er war mit ihr sechs Jahre lang verborgen im Hause des HERRN. Atalia aber war Königin im Lande.

⁴And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and showed them the king's son.

⁴Aber im siebenten Jahre ließ Jojada die Obersten über die Hundertschaften der Karier und der Trabanten holen und zu sich in das Haus des HERRN kommen; und er machte mit ihnen einen Bund und nahm einen Eid von ihnen im Hause des HERRN

⁵And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king's house;

⁵und zeigte ihnen den Sohn des Königs und gebot ihnen und sprach: Das ist es, was ihr tun sollt: Der dritte Teil von euch, die ihr am Sabbat antretet, soll Wache halten im Hause des Königs;

⁶And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.

⁶und ein Drittel am Tore Sur und ein Drittel am Tore hinter den Trabanten; und ihr sollt Wache halten beim Hause.

⁷And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king.

⁷Und die zwei andern Teile von euch, alle, die am Sabbat abtreten, sollen im Hause des HERRN um den König Wache halten.

⁸And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.

⁸Und ihr sollt euch rings um den König scharen, ein jeglicher mit seinen Waffen in der Hand; wer aber in die Reihen eindringt, der soll getötet werden; und ihr sollt bei dem König sein, wenn er aus und eingeht.

⁹And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

⁹Und die Obersten über Hundert taten alles, wie ihnen der Priester Jojada geboten hatte; und sie nahmen zu sich ihre Männer, die am Sabbat antraten, samt denen, die am Sabbat abtraten, und kamen zu Jojada, dem Priester.

¹⁰And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David's spears and shields, that were in the temple of the LORD.

¹⁰Und der Priester gab den Obersten über Hundert Speere und Schilde, welche dem König David gehört hatten, und die im Hause des HERRN waren.

¹¹And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.

¹¹Und die Trabanten standen um den König her, ein jeglicher mit seinen Waffen in der Hand, von der rechten Seite des Hauses bis zur linken Seite des Hauses, bei dem Altar und bei dem Hause.

¹²And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

¹²Und er führte den Sohn des Königs heraus und setzte ihm die Krone auf und gab ihm das Zeugnis; und sie machten ihn zum König und salbten ihn und klatschten in die Hände und sprachen: Es lebe der König!

¹³And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the LORD.

¹³Als aber Atalia das Geschrei der Trabanten und des Volkes hörte, kam sie zum Volk in das Haus des HERRN.

¹⁴And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.

¹⁴Und sie sah zu, und siehe, da stand der König an der Säule, wie es Sitte war, und die Obersten und Trabanten bei dem König; und alles Volk des Landes war fröhlich und stieß in die Trompeten. Atalia aber zerriß ihre Kleider und schrie: Verschwörung! Verschwörung!

¹⁵But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.

¹⁵Aber Jojada, der Priester, gebot den Obersten über Hundert, die über das Heer gesetzt waren, und sprach: Führt sie hinaus, zwischen den Reihen hindurch, und wer ihr folgt, der soll durch das Schwert sterben! Denn der Priester sprach: Sie soll nicht im Hause des HERRN getötet werden!

¹⁶And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king's house: and there was she slain.

¹⁶Da legte man Hand an sie. Und sie ging durch den Eingang für die Pferde zum Hause des Königs und ward daselbst getötet.

¹⁷And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD's people; between the king also and the people.

¹⁷Da machte Jojada einen Bund zwischen dem HERRN und dem König und dem Volk, daß sie das Volk des HERRN sein sollten; ebenso zwischen dem König und dem Volk.

¹⁸And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.

¹⁸Da ging alles Volk des Landes in den Baalstempel und zerstörte ihn, seine Altäre und Bilder zerbrachen sie in Stücke; und Mattan, den Baalspriester, töteten sie vor den Altären.

¹⁹And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.

¹⁹Der Priester aber bestellte Wachen über das Haus des HERRN. Und er nahm die Obersten über Hundert, und die Leibwache und die Trabanten und alles Volk des Landes, und sie führten den König hinab vom Hause des HERRN und kamen durch das Tor der Trabanten zum Hause des Königs; und er setzte sich auf den Thron der Könige.

²⁰And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king's house.

²⁰Und alles Volk im Lande ward fröhlich, und die Stadt blieb stille. Atalia aber hatten sie mit dem Schwerte getötet beim Hause des Königs.

²¹Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.

²¹(H11-20b) Joas war sieben Jahre alt, als er König ward.
