¹And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

¹Als nun der König in seinem Hause saß und der HERR ihm Ruhe gegeben hatte vor allen seinen Feinden ringsumher,

²That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

²sprach der König zum Propheten Natan: Siehe doch, ich wohne in einem Zedernhause, und die Lade Gottes wohnt unter Teppichen!

³And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.

³Natan sprach zum König: Gehe hin und tue alles, was in deinem Herzen ist, denn der HERR ist mit dir!

⁴And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,

⁴Aber in derselben Nacht kam das Wort des HERRN zu Natan und sprach:

⁵Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

⁵Gehe hin und sage zu meinem Knechte David: So spricht der HERR: Solltest du mir ein Haus bauen, daß ich darin wohne?

⁶Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

⁶Habe ich doch in keinem Hause gewohnt von dem Tage an, als ich die Kinder Israel aus Ägypten führte, bis auf diesen Tag, sondern ich bin stets in einem Zelt und in der Wohnung umhergezogen.

⁷In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?

⁷Wohin ich immer wandelte mit allen Kindern Israel, habe ich auch jemals ein Wort geredet zu einem der Stämme Israels, dem ich mein Volk Israel zu weiden befahl, und gesagt: Warum bauet ihr mir kein Haus von Zedern?

⁸Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

⁸So sollst du nun zu meinem Knechte David also reden: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Ich habe dich von der Weide hinter den Schafen weggenommen, daß du Fürst werdest über mein Volk Israel;

⁹And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

⁹und ich bin mit dir gewesen, wohin du gegangen bist, und habe alle deine Feinde vor dir her ausgerottet, und ich habe dir einen großen Namen gemacht, wie der Name der Gewaltigen auf Erden;

¹⁰Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,

¹⁰und ich habe meinem Volk Israel einen Ort bereitet und es eingepflanzt, daß es daselbst verbleibe, daß es nicht mehr beunruhigt werde und die Kinder der Bosheit es nicht mehr drängen wie zuvor und zur Zeit, da ich Richter über mein Volk Israel verordnete.

¹¹And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.

¹¹Und ich habe dir vor allen deinen Feinden Ruhe gegeben; und der HERR tut dir kund, daß Er dir ein Haus bauen will.

¹²And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

¹²Wenn deine Tage erfüllt sind und du bei deinen Vätern liegst, so will ich deinen Samen nach dir erwecken, der aus deinem Leibe kommen wird, und will sein Königtum befestigen;

¹³He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

¹³der soll meinem Namen ein Haus bauen, und ich will den Thron seines Königreichs auf ewig befestigen.

¹⁴I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

¹⁴Ich will sein Vater sein, und er soll mein Sohn sein. Wenn er eine Missetat begeht, will ich ihn mit Menschenruten züchtigen und mit Schlägen der Menschenkinder strafen.

¹⁵But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

¹⁵Aber meine Gnade soll nicht von ihm weichen, wie ich sie von Saul abwandte, den ich vor dir beseitigt habe;

¹⁶And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

¹⁶sondern dein Haus und dein Königreich sollen ewig vor dir beständig sein; dein Thron soll auf ewig bestehen.

¹⁷According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

¹⁷Natan teilte alle diese Worte und dieses ganze Gesicht dem David mit.

¹⁸Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

¹⁸Da kam der König David und setzte sich vor dem HERRN nieder und sprach: Wer bin ich, mein Herr, HERR, und was ist mein Haus, daß du mich bis hierher gebracht hast?

¹⁹And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

¹⁹Und das ist noch zu wenig gewesen in deinen Augen, Herr, HERR; denn du hast über das Haus deines Knechtes noch von ferner Zukunft geredet, und zwar, Herr, HERR, von des Menschen höchstem Ziel!

²⁰And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.

²⁰Was kann da David weiter zu dir sagen? Du kennst ja deinen Knecht, Herr, HERR!

²¹For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.

²¹Um deines Wortes willen und nach deinem Herzen hast du so Großes getan, um es deinem Knechte kundzutun!

²²Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

²²Darum bist du, HERR, mein Gott, auch so hoch erhaben; denn dir ist niemand gleich, und es ist kein Gott außer dir nach allem, was wir mit unsern Ohren gehört haben!

²³And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

²³Und wo ist ein Volk wie dein Volk, wie Israel, das einzige auf Erden, um deswillen Gott hingegangen ist, es sich zum Volke zu erlösen und sich einen Namen zu machen und so großartige und furchtbare Taten für dein Land zu tun vor dem Angesichte deines Volkes, welches du dir aus Ägypten, von den Heiden und ihren Göttern erlöst hast?

²⁴For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.

²⁴Und du hast dir dein Volk Israel auf ewig zum Volke zubereitet, und du, HERR, bist sein Gott geworden!

²⁵And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

²⁵So erfülle nun, HERR, mein Gott, auf ewig das Wort, das du über deinen Knecht und über sein Haus geredet hast, und tue, wie du gesagt hast,

²⁶And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

²⁶damit man ewiglich deinen Namen erhebe und sage: Der HERR der Heerscharen ist Gott über Israel! Und möge das Haus deines Knechtes David vor dir bestehen!

²⁷For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

²⁷Denn du, HERR der Heerscharen, du Gott Israels, hast dem Ohr deines Knechts geoffenbart und gesagt: Ich will dir ein Haus bauen! Darum hat dein Knecht den Mut gefunden, dieses Gebet zu dir zu beten.

²⁸And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

²⁸Und nun, mein Herr, HERR, du bist Gott, und deine Worte sind Wahrheit, und du hast deinem Knecht so viel Gutes zugesagt.

²⁹Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

²⁹So wollest du nun das Haus deines Knechtes segnen, daß es ewiglich vor dir sei; denn du selbst, Herr, HERR, hast es gesagt. So möge denn das Haus deines Knechtes mit deinem Segen bedacht werden ewiglich!
