1And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.
1Nach fünf Tagen aber kam der Hohepriester Ananias mit den Ältesten und einem Redner, einem gewissen Tertullus, hinab; diese erschienen vor dem Landpfleger wider Paulus.
2And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence,
2Als dieser aber gerufen worden war, erhob Tertullus die Anklage und sprach:
3We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.
3Daß wir viel Frieden durch dich genießen und daß diesem Volke durch deine Fürsorge bessere Zustände geschaffen worden sind, das anerkennen wir allezeit und allenthalben, edelster Felix, mit aller Dankbarkeit!
4Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words.
4Damit ich dich aber nicht allzusehr bemühe, bitte ich dich, uns in Kürze nach deiner Freundlichkeit anzuhören.
5For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
5Wir haben nämlich diesen Mann als eine Pest befunden, als einen, der Zwietracht stiftet unter allen Juden in der ganzen Welt, als einen Anführer der Sekte der Nazarener;
6Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.
6der auch versuchte, den Tempel zu entheiligen; den haben wir auch ergriffen und wollten ihn nach unsrem Gesetze richten.
7But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,
7Aber Lysias, der Oberste, kam dazu und führte ihn mit großer Gewalt aus unsern Händen hinweg
8Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.
8und hieß seine Ankläger zu dir kommen. Von ihm kannst du selbst, so du ihn verhörest, alles das erfahren, dessen wir ihn anklagen.
9And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.
9Dem stimmten aber auch die Juden bei und behaupteten, es verhielte sich so.
10Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:
10Paulus aber gab auf den Wink des Landpflegers folgende Antwort: Da ich weiß, daß du seit vielen Jahren unter diesem Volke Richter bist, so verteidige ich meine Sache guten Mutes,
11Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.
11da du erfahren kannst, daß es nicht länger als zwölf Tage her ist, seit ich hinaufzog, um in Jerusalem anzubeten.
12And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:
12Und sie fanden mich weder im Tempel, daß ich mich mit jemand unterredet oder einen Volksauflauf erregt hätte, noch in den Synagogen, noch in der Stadt.
13Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.
13Sie können dir auch das nicht beweisen, wessen sie mich jetzt anklagen.
14But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
14Das bekenne ich dir aber, daß ich nach dem Wege, welchen sie eine Sekte nennen, dem Gott der Väter also diene, daß ich an alles glaube, was im Gesetz und in den Propheten geschrieben steht;
15And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
15und ich habe die Hoffnung zu Gott, auf welche auch sie selbst warten, daß es eine Auferstehung der Toten, sowohl der Gerechten als der Ungerechten, geben wird.
16And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void to offence toward God, and toward men.
16Darum übe ich mich auch, allezeit ein unverletztes Gewissen zu haben gegenüber Gott und den Menschen.
17Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.
17Ich bin aber nach vielen Jahren gekommen, um Almosen für mein Volk zu bringen und Opfer.
18Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.
18Dabei fanden mich, als ich im Tempel ohne Lärm und Getümmel gereinigt wurde, etliche Juden aus Asien;
19Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had ought against me.
19die sollten vor dir erscheinen und Anklage erheben, wenn sie etwas wider mich hätten.
20Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,
20Oder diese selbst mögen sagen, was für ein Unrecht sie an mir gefunden haben, als ich vor dem Hohen Rate stand;
21Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.
21es wäre denn wegen jenes einzigen Wortes, das ich ausrief, als ich unter ihnen stand: Wegen der Auferstehung der Toten werde ich heute von euch gerichtet!
22And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.
22Als Felix solches hörte, verwies er sie auf eine spätere Zeit, da er den Weg genauer kannte, und sprach: Wenn Lysias, der Oberste, herabkommt, will ich eure Sache untersuchen.
23And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.
23Und er befahl dem Hauptmann, Paulus in Gewahrsam zu halten, jedoch in milder Haft, auch keinem der Seinigen zu wehren, ihm Dienste zu leisten.
24And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.
24Nach etlichen Tagen aber kam Felix mit seinem Weibe Drusilla, die eine Jüdin war, und ließ den Paulus holen und hörte ihn über den Glauben an Christus Jesus.
25And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
25Als er aber von Gerechtigkeit und Enthaltsamkeit und dem zukünftigen Gericht redete, wurde dem Felix bange, und er antwortete: Für diesmal gehe hin; wenn ich aber gelegene Zeit bekomme, will ich dich wieder rufen lassen!
26He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.
26Zugleich hoffte er aber auch, daß ihm von Paulus Geld gegeben würde, damit er ihn freiließe. Darum ließ er ihn auch öfters kommen und besprach sich mit ihm.
27But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.
27Als aber zwei Jahre verflossen waren, bekam Felix zum Nachfolger den Porcius Festus, und da sich Felix die Juden zu Dank verpflichten wollte, ließ er den Paulus gebunden zurück.
