¹Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

¹Hört dieses Wort, welches der HERR wider euch gesprochen hat, ihr Kinder Israel, wider alle Geschlechter, die ich aus Ägyptenland heraufgeführt habe!

²You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

²Es lautet also: Nur euch habe ich ersehen von allen Geschlechtern der Erde, darum will ich auch an euch heimsuchen alle eure Missetaten.

³Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

³Gehen auch zwei miteinander, ohne daß sie sich vereinigt haben?

⁴Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?

⁴Brüllt der Löwe im Wald, wenn er keinen Raub hat? Läßt der junge Leu aus seiner Höhle die Stimme erschallen, wenn er nichts erwischt hat?

⁵Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?

⁵Gerät auch ein Vogel in die Falle am Boden, wenn ihm keine Schlinge gelegt worden ist? Schnellt wohl die Falle vom Erdboden empor, ohne daß sie etwas gefangen hat?

⁶Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

⁶Kann man in die Posaune stoßen in der Stadt, ohne daß das Volk erschrickt? Geschieht auch ein Unglück in der Stadt, das der HERR nicht tue?

⁷Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

⁷Nein, Gott, der HERR tut nichts, er offenbare denn sein Geheimnis seinen Knechten, den Propheten.

⁸The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?

⁸Der Löwe brüllt; wer sollte sich nicht fürchten? Gott, der HERR, redet; wer sollte nicht weissagen?

⁹Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.

⁹Laßt es hören auf den Palästen von Asdod und auf den Palästen im Lande Ägypten und sprechet: Versammelt euch auf den Bergen von Samarien und seht, welch große Verwirrung darinnen herrscht und was für Bedrückungen daselbst vorkommen!

¹⁰For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

¹⁰Sie sind keiner ehrlichen Handlung fähig, spricht der HERR, sondern häufen durch Unrecht und Gewalt in ihren Palästen Schätze an.

¹¹Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

¹¹Darum spricht Gott, der HERR: Der Feind wird kommen und dein Land umzingeln, er wird dein Bollwerk zerstören und deine Paläste plündern!

¹²Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.

¹²So spricht der HERR: Wie ein Hirt aus dem Rachen des Löwen zwei Schenkel oder ein Ohrläpplein rettet, so sollen die Kinder Israel errettet werden, welche zu Samaria in der Sophaecke sitzen und auf dem Ruhebette von Damast!

¹³Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,

¹³Höret und bezeuget gegen das Haus Jakob den Spruch Gottes, des HERRN, des Gottes der Heerscharen:

¹⁴That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

¹⁴An dem Tage, da ich die Übertretungen des Hauses Israel an ihnen heimsuche, werde ich sie auch an den Altären zu Bethel strafen, so daß die Hörner des Altars abgehauen werden und zu Boden fallen.

¹⁵And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.

¹⁵Und ich will den Winterpalast schlagen samt dem Sommerpalast, und die Elfenbeinhäuser sollen untergehen und die großen Häuser verschwinden, spricht der HERR.
