¹If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

¹Seid ihr nun mit Christus auferstanden, so suchet, was droben ist, wo Christus ist, sitzend zu der Rechten Gottes.

²Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

²Trachtet nach dem, was droben, nicht nach dem, was auf Erden ist;

³For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

³denn ihr seid gestorben, und euer Leben ist verborgen mit Christus in Gott.

⁴When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

⁴Wenn Christus, euer Leben, offenbar werden wird, dann werdet auch ihr mit ihm offenbar werden in Herrlichkeit.

⁵Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

⁵Tötet nun eure Glieder, die auf Erden sind: Unzucht, Unreinigkeit, Leidenschaft, böse Lust und die Habsucht, welche Götzendienst ist;

⁶For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

⁶um welcher Dinge willen der Zorn Gottes über die Kinder des Unglaubens kommt;

⁷In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

⁷in welchen auch ihr einst wandeltet, als ihr darin lebtet;

⁸But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

⁸nun aber leget das alles ab, Zorn, Grimm, Bosheit, Lästerung, häßliche Redensarten aus eurem Munde.

⁹Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

⁹Lüget einander nicht an: da ihr ja den alten Menschen mit seinen Handlungen ausgezogen

¹⁰And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

¹⁰und den neuen angezogen habt, der erneuert wird zur Erkenntnis, nach dem Ebenbild dessen, der ihn geschaffen hat;

¹¹Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

¹¹wo nicht mehr Grieche und Jude ist, Beschneidung und Vorhaut, Ausländer, Scythe, Knecht, Freier, sondern alles und in allen Christus.

¹²Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

¹²Ziehet nun an als Gottes Auserwählte, Heilige und Geliebte, herzliches Erbarmen, Freundlichkeit, Demut, Sanftmut, Geduld,

¹³Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

¹³ertraget einander und vergebet einander, wenn einer wider den andern zu klagen hat; gleichwie Christus euch vergeben hat, also auch ihr.

¹⁴And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

¹⁴ber dies alles aber habet die Liebe, welche das Band der Vollkommenheit ist.

¹⁵And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

¹⁵Und der Friede Christi herrsche in euren Herzen, zu welchem ihr auch berufen seid in einem Leibe. Seid auch dankbar!

¹⁶Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

¹⁶Das Wort Christi wohne reichlich unter euch; lehret und ermahnet euch selbst mit Psalmen, Lobgesängen und geistlichen Liedern; singet Gott lieblich in euren Herzen.

¹⁷And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

¹⁷Und was immer ihr tut in Wort oder Werk, das tut im Namen des Herrn Jesus und danket Gott und dem Vater durch ihn.

¹⁸Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

¹⁸Ihr Frauen, seid euren Männern untertan, wie sich's geziemt im Herrn!

¹⁹Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

¹⁹Ihr Männer, liebet eure Frauen und seid nicht bitter gegen sie!

²⁰Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

²⁰Ihr Kinder, seid gehorsam euren Eltern in allen Dingen, denn das ist dem Herrn wohlgefällig!

²¹Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

²¹Ihr Väter, reizet eure Kinder nicht, damit sie nicht unwillig werden!

²²Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;

²²Ihr Knechte, gehorchet in allen Dingen euren leiblichen Herren, nicht mit Augendienerei, um den Menschen zu gefallen, sondern in Einfalt des Herzens, als solche, die den Herrn fürchten.

²³And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

²³Was immer ihr tut, das tut von Herzen, als für den Herrn und nicht für Menschen,

²⁴Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

²⁴da ihr wisset, daß ihr vom Herrn zur Vergeltung das Erbe empfangen werdet. So dienet dem Herrn Christus;

²⁵But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

²⁵denn wer Unrecht tut, wird wiederbekommen, was er Unrechtes getan hat; und es gilt kein Ansehen der Person.
