¹The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:

¹Reden Jeremias, des Sohnes Hilkias, aus den Priestern zu Anatot im Lande Benjamin,

²To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

²an welchen das Wort des HERRN erging in den Tagen Josias, des Sohnes Amons, des Königs von Juda, im dreizehnten Jahre seiner Regierung,

³It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

³und auch in den Tagen Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, bis zum Ende des elften Jahres Zedekias, des Königs von Juda, bis zur Gefangenführung Jerusalems im fünften Monat.

⁴Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

⁴Und das Wort des HERRN erging an mich und sprach:

⁵Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

⁵Ehe denn ich dich im Mutterleibe bildete, kannte ich dich, und bevor du aus dem Mutterschoße hervorgingst, habe ich dich geheiligt und dich den Völkern zum Propheten gegeben!

⁶Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

⁶Da sprach ich: Ach, Herr, HERR, ich kann nicht reden; denn ich bin noch zu jung!

⁷But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

⁷Aber der HERR sprach zu mir: Sage nicht: Ich bin zu jung! Sondern du sollst überall hingehen, wohin ich dich sende, und alles reden, was ich dich heiße!

⁸Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

⁸Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen; denn ich bin mit dir, um dich zu erretten, spricht der HERR.

⁹Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

⁹Und der HERR streckte seine Hand aus und rührte meinen Mund an; und der HERR sprach zu mir: Siehe, ich habe meine Worte in deinen Mund gelegt!

¹⁰See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

¹⁰Siehe, ich habe dich am heutigen Tage über Völker und Königreiche bestellt, daß du ausrottest und zerstörest, verderbest und niederreißest, bauest und pflanzest.

¹¹Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.

¹¹Und das Wort des HERRN erging an mich und sprach: Was siehst du, Jeremia? Da sprach ich: Ich sehe einen Wacholder.

¹²Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

¹²Da sprach der HERR zu mir: Du hast recht gesehen; denn ich will über meinem Worte wachen, es auszuführen!

¹³And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.

¹³Und des HERRN Wort erging zum zweitenmal an mich und sprach: Was siehst du? Da antwortete ich: Ich sehe einen siedenden Topf, der kommt von Norden her!

¹⁴Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.

¹⁴Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Von Norden her wird das Unglück einbrechen über alle Bewohner des Landes,

¹⁵For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.

¹⁵denn siehe, ich rufe alle Geschlechter der nördlichen Königreiche, spricht der HERR, daß sie kommen und ein jeder seinen Thron stelle vor die Tore Jerusalems und wider alle ihre Ringmauern und wider alle Städte Judas;

¹⁶And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.

¹⁶und ich will mein Urteil über sie fällen wegen all ihrer Bosheit, daß sie mich verlassen und andern Göttern geräuchert und die Werke ihrer Hände angebetet haben.

¹⁷Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.

¹⁷Du aber, gürte deine Lenden, mache dich auf und rede zu ihnen alles, was ich dir gebieten werde! Sei unverzagt vor ihnen, damit ich dich nicht vor ihnen verzagt mache!

¹⁸For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.

¹⁸Siehe, ich mache dich heute zu einer festen Stadt und zu einer eisernen Säule und zu einer ehernen Mauer wider das ganze Land, wider die Könige von Juda, wider ihre Fürsten, wider ihre Priester und wider das Volk des Landes;

¹⁹And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.

¹⁹sie werden zwar wider dich streiten, aber nichts wider dich vermögen; denn ich bin mit dir, spricht der HERR, um dich zu erretten.
