¹The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.

¹Dies ist das Wort, welches vom HERRN an Jeremia erging im zehnten Jahre Zedekias, des Königs von Juda, das ist das achtzehnte Jahr Nebukadnezars.

²For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house.

²Damals belagerte das Heer des babylonischen Königs Jerusalem; der Prophet Jeremia aber war eingesperrt im Hofe des Gefängnisses, welches zum Palaste des Königs von Juda gehörte;

³For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;

³Zedekia, der König von Juda, hatte ihn nämlich einsperren lassen, indem er sprach: «Warum weissagst du: So spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich gebe diese Stadt in die Hand des babylonischen Königs, daß er sie einnehme;

⁴And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;

⁴und Zedekia, der König von Juda, wird den Chaldäern nicht entrinnen, sondern gewiß dem König von Babel in die Hände fallen; der wird von Mund zu Mund mit ihm reden und sie werden einander Auge in Auge sehen;

⁵And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.

⁵und er wird Zedekia nach Babel führen, und daselbst muß er bleiben, bis ich nach ihm sehe, spricht der HERR; wenn ihr auch mit den Chaldäern streitet, so werdet ihr doch nichts ausrichten?»

⁶And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

⁶Und Jeremia sprach: Das Wort des HERRN ist an mich also ergangen:

⁷Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.

⁷Siehe, Hanameel, der Sohn deines Oheims Sallum, wird zu dir kommen und sagen: Kaufe dir meinen Acker, der zu Anatot liegt; denn dir steht das Lösungsrecht zu, ihn zu kaufen!

⁸So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.

⁸Da kam mein Vetter Hanameel gemäß dem Worte des HERRN zu mir in den Hof des Gefängnisses und sprach zu mir: Kaufe doch meinen Acker, der zu Anatot, im Lande Benjamin liegt; denn dir steht das Erbrecht und das Lösungsrecht zu; kaufe ihn dir!

⁹And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.

⁹Da erkannte ich, daß es des HERRN Wort war, und kaufte den Acker zu Anatot von meinem Vetter Hanameel und wog ihm das Geld dar, siebzehn Schekel Silber.

¹⁰And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.

¹⁰Und ich schrieb einen Kaufbrief und versiegelte ihn und berief Zeugen und wog das Geld auf der Waage ab.

¹¹So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:

¹¹Und ich nahm den versiegelten Kaufbrief mit der Abmachung und den Bedingungen, dazu auch den offenen,

¹²And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.

¹²und übergab den Kaufbrief Baruch, dem Sohne Nerijas, des Sohnes Machsejas, vor den Augen meines Vetters Hanameel und vor den Augen der Zeugen, die den Kaufbrief unterschrieben hatten, auch vor den Augen aller Juden, die im Vorhof des Gefängnisses saßen.

¹³And I charged Baruch before them, saying,

¹³Und ich befahl dem Baruch vor ihren Augen und sprach:

¹⁴Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.

¹⁴So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Nimm diesen Kaufbrief, sowohl den versiegelten als auch den offenen, und lege sie in ein irdenes Gefäß, damit sie lange Zeit erhalten bleiben!

¹⁵For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.

¹⁵Denn also spricht der HERR der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Es sollen in diesem Lande noch Häuser und Äcker und Weinberge gekauft werden!

¹⁶Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,

¹⁶Nachdem ich nun den Kaufbrief Baruch, dem Sohne Nerijas, übergeben hatte, betete ich zum HERRN und sprach:

¹⁷Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

¹⁷Ach, Herr, HERR, siehe, du hast mit deiner großen Kraft und mit deinem ausgestreckten Arm den Himmel und die Erde gemacht; dir ist nichts zu wunderbar!

¹⁸Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,

¹⁸Du erweisest Gnade vielen Tausenden und vergiltst die Missetat der Väter in den Busen ihrer Kinder nach ihnen, du großer und starker Gott, dessen Name HERR der Heerscharen ist;

¹⁹Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

¹⁹groß von Rat und mächtig von Tat, dessen Augen über allen Wegen der Menschenkinder offen stehen, um einem jeglichen zu geben nach seinen Wegen und nach der Frucht seiner Taten;

²⁰Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;

²⁰der du große Zeichen und Wunder in Ägyptenland und bis auf diesen Tag an Israel und an andern Menschen getan und dir einen Namen gemacht hast, wie es heute der Fall ist.

²¹And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;

²¹Du hast dein Volk Israel aus dem Lande Ägypten ausgeführt durch Zeichen und Wunder und mit starker Hand und ausgestrecktem Arm und mit großem Schrecken

²²And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;

²²und hast ihnen dieses Land gegeben, wie du ihren Vätern geschworen hattest, es ihnen zu geben, ein Land, das von Milch und Honig fließt.

²³And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:

²³Als sie nun kamen und es einnahmen, gehorchten sie deiner Stimme nicht und wandelten nicht in deinem Gesetz, sie taten nichts von dem, was du ihnen zu tun geboten hattest; darum ist ihnen all dieses Unglück begegnet.

²⁴Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.

²⁴Siehe, die Wälle reichen bis an die Stadt, daß sie erobert werde; und die Stadt ist in die Hand der Chaldäer gegeben, welche wider sie streiten, angesichts des Schwertes, der Hungersnot und der Pest; und was du gedroht hast, das ist eingetroffen, und siehe, du bemerkst es wohl.

²⁵And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

²⁵Und doch hast du, Herr, HERR, zu mir gesagt: Kaufe dir den Acker um Geld und nimm Zeugen dazu! Und dabei ist die Stadt in die Hand der Chaldäer gegeben!

²⁶Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,

²⁶Da erging das Wort des HERRN an Jeremia also:

²⁷Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

²⁷Siehe, ich, der HERR, bin ein Gott alles Fleisches; sollte mir etwas zu wunderbar sein?

²⁸Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:

²⁸Darum spricht der HERR also: Siehe, ich gebe diese Stadt in die Hand der Chaldäer und in die Hand des babylonischen Königs Nebukadnezar, daß er sie einnehme;

²⁹And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.

²⁹und die Chaldäer, welche diese Stadt belagern, werden hineinkommen und Feuer an diese Stadt legen und sie verbrennen samt den Häusern, auf deren Dächern sie dem Baal geräuchert und fremden Göttern Trankopfer ausgegossen haben, womit sie mich erzürnten;

³⁰For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.

³⁰denn die Kinder Israel und die Kinder Juda haben von Jugend auf nur getan, was böse war in meinen Augen, ja, die Kinder Israel haben mich nur erzürnt durch die Werke ihrer Hände, spricht der HERR.

³¹For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,

³¹Denn diese Stadt hat mich nur zum Zorn und Grimm gereizt von dem Tage an, da man sie baute, bis auf diesen Tag, so daß ich sie von meinem Angesicht hinwegtun will,

³²Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

³²wegen aller Bosheit, die die Kinder Israel und die Kinder Juda begangen haben, um mich zu erzürnen, sie, ihre Könige, ihre Fürsten, ihre Priester, ihre Propheten, die Männer von Juda und die Bewohner Jerusalems.

³³And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.

³³Sie haben mir den Rücken zugewandt und nicht das Angesicht; als ich sie frühe und fleißig unterwies, haben sie nicht hören und keine Züchtigung annehmen wollen,

³⁴But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.

³⁴sondern sie haben ihre abscheulichen Götzen in das Haus gesetzt, das nach meinem Namen genannt ist, und es dadurch verunreinigt.

³⁵And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

³⁵Sie haben dem Baal Höhen gebaut im Tal Ben-Hinnom, um ihre Söhne und Töchter dem Moloch zu verbrennen, was ich ihnen nicht geboten habe und das mir nie in den Sinn gekommen ist, daß sie solche Greuel verüben sollten, um Juda zur Sünde zu verführen.

³⁶And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;

³⁶Und nun, bei alledem spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels, von dieser Stadt, von welcher ihr saget, daß sie durch Schwert, Hunger und Pest in die Hand des babylonischen Königs gegeben sei:

³⁷Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:

³⁷Siehe, ich will sie sammeln aus allen Ländern, dahin ich sie in meinem Zorn und Grimm und in meiner großen Entrüstung verstoßen habe, und ich will sie wieder an diesen Ort zurückführen und sie sicher wohnen lassen;

³⁸And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

³⁸und sie sollen mein Volk sein, und ich will ihr Gott sein;

³⁹And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

³⁹und ich will ihnen einerlei Herz und einerlei Wandel geben, daß sie mich allezeit fürchten, ihnen selbst zum Besten und ihren Kindern nach ihnen.

⁴⁰And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

⁴⁰Und ich will einen ewigen Bund mit ihnen schließen, daß ich nicht von ihnen ablassen will, ihnen wohlzutun. Und ich will meine Furcht in ihr Herz geben, daß sie nicht mehr von mir weichen sollen

⁴¹Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

⁴¹und ich mich über sie freuen kann, ihnen wohlzutun; und ich werde sie einpflanzen in dieses Land in Wahrheit, von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele.

⁴²For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.

⁴²Denn also spricht der HERR: Wie ich all dieses große Unglück über dieses Volk gebracht habe, also will ich auch alles Gute über sie bringen, das ich über sie geredet habe.

⁴³And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

⁴³Und es sollen Äcker gekauft werden in diesem Lande, von welchem ihr saget, es sei von Menschen und Vieh verlassen und in die Hand der Chaldäer gegeben.

⁴⁴Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.

⁴⁴Man wird Äcker um Geld kaufen und verschreiben und versiegeln und Zeugen bestellen im Lande Benjamin und in der Umgebung von Jerusalem, in den Städten Judas, in den Gebirgsstädten und in den Städten der Ebene, auch in den Städten des Südens; denn ich will ihre Gefangenen zurückbringen, spricht der HERR.
