¹Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

¹Euer Herz erschrecke nicht! Vertrauet auf Gott und vertrauet auf mich!

²In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

²In meines Vaters Hause sind viele Wohnungen; wo nicht, so hätte ich es euch gesagt. Ich gehe hin, euch eine Stätte zu bereiten.

³And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

³Und wenn ich hingehe und euch eine Stätte bereite, so komme ich wieder und werde euch zu mir nehmen, auf daß auch ihr seid, wo ich bin.

⁴And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

⁴Wohin ich aber gehe, wisset ihr, und ihr kennet den Weg.

⁵Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

⁵Thomas spricht zu ihm: Herr, wir wissen nicht, wohin du gehst, und wie können wir den Weg wissen?

⁶Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

⁶Jesus spricht zu ihm: Ich bin der Weg und die Wahrheit und das Leben; niemand kommt zum Vater, denn durch mich!

⁷If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

⁷Hättet ihr mich erkannt, so würdet ihr auch meinen Vater kennen; und von nun an kennet ihr ihn und habt ihn gesehen.

⁸Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

⁸Philippus spricht zu ihm: Herr, zeige uns den Vater, so genügt es uns!

⁹Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

⁹Spricht Jesus zu ihm: So lange Zeit bin ich bei euch, und du kennst mich noch nicht? Philippus, wer mich gesehen hat, der hat den Vater gesehen! Wie kannst du sagen: Zeige uns den Vater?

¹⁰Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

¹⁰Glaubst du nicht, daß ich im Vater bin und der Vater in mir ist? Die Worte, die ich zu euch rede, rede ich nicht von mir selbst, sondern der Vater, der in mir wohnt, tut die Werke.

¹¹Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

¹¹Glaubet mir, daß ich im Vater bin und der Vater in mir ist; wo nicht, so glaubet mir doch um der Werke willen!

¹²Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

¹²Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, wer an mich glaubt, der wird die Werke auch tun, die ich tue, und wird größere als diese tun, weil ich zu meinem Vater gehe;

¹³And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹³und was ihr auch in meinem Namen bitten werdet, will ich tun, auf daß der Vater verherrlicht werde in dem Sohne.

¹⁴If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

¹⁴Wenn ihr etwas in meinem Namen bitten werdet, so werde ich es tun.

¹⁵If ye love me, keep my commandments.

¹⁵Liebet ihr mich, so haltet meine Gebote!

¹⁶And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

¹⁶Und ich will den Vater bitten, und er wird euch einen andern Beistand geben, daß er bei euch bleibe in Ewigkeit,

¹⁷Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

¹⁷den Geist der Wahrheit, welchen die Welt nicht empfangen kann, denn sie beachtet ihn nicht und kennt ihn nicht; ihr aber kennet ihn, denn er bleibt bei euch und wird in euch sein.

¹⁸I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

¹⁸Ich lasse euch nicht als Waisen zurück, ich komme zu euch.

¹⁹Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

¹⁹Noch eine kleine Weile, und die Welt sieht mich nicht mehr; ihr aber seht mich, denn ich lebe, und auch ihr sollt leben!

²⁰At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

²⁰An jenem Tage werdet ihr erkennen, daß ich in meinem Vater bin und ihr in mir und ich in euch.

²¹He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

²¹Wer meine Gebote hat und sie hält, der ist es, der mich liebt; wer aber mich liebt, der wird von meinem Vater geliebt werden, und ich werde ihn lieben und mich ihm offenbaren.

²²Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

²²Da spricht zu ihm Judas, nicht der Ischariot: Herr, wie kommt es, daß du dich uns offenbaren willst und nicht der Welt?

²³Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

²³Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Wenn jemand mich liebt, so wird er mein Wort befolgen, und mein Vater wird ihn lieben, und wir werden zu ihm kommen und Wohnung bei ihm machen.

²⁴He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

²⁴Wer mich nicht liebt, befolgt meine Worte nicht; und doch ist das Wort, das ihr höret, nicht mein, sondern des Vaters, der mich gesandt hat.

²⁵These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

²⁵Solches habe ich zu euch gesprochen, während ich noch bei euch bin;

²⁶But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

²⁶der Beistand aber, der heilige Geist, welchen mein Vater in meinem Namen senden wird, der wird euch alles lehren und euch an alles erinnern, was ich euch gesagt habe.

²⁷Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

²⁷Frieden hinterlasse ich euch, meinen Frieden gebe ich euch. Nicht wie die Welt gibt, gebe ich euch; euer Herz errege sich nicht und verzage nicht!

²⁸Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

²⁸Ihr habt gehört, daß ich sagte: Ich gehe hin, und ich komme zu euch! Hättet ihr mich lieb, so würdet ihr euch freuen, daß ich zum Vater gehe; denn der Vater ist größer als ich.

²⁹And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

²⁹Und nun habe ich es euch gesagt, ehe es geschieht, damit ihr glaubet, wenn es geschieht.

³⁰Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

³⁰Ich werde nicht mehr viel mit euch reden; denn es kommt der Fürst dieser Welt, und in mir hat er nichts.

³¹But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

³¹Damit aber die Welt erkenne, daß ich den Vater liebe und also tue, wie mir der Vater befohlen hat, stehet auf und lasset uns von hinnen gehen!
