¹And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.

¹Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, es sind etliche unter denen, die hier stehen, die den Tod nicht schmecken werden, bis sie das Reich Gottes mit Macht haben kommen sehen.

²And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

²Und nach sechs Tagen nimmt Jesus den Petrus und Jakobus und Johannes zu sich und führt sie beiseite allein auf einen hohen Berg. Und er ward vor ihnen verklärt,

³And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

³und seine Kleider wurden glänzend, sehr weiß wie Schnee, wie sie kein Bleicher auf Erden so weiß machen kann.

⁴And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

⁴Und es erschien ihnen Elia mit Mose, die redeten mit Jesus.

⁵And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

⁵Und Petrus hob an und sprach zu Jesus: Rabbi, es ist gut, daß wir hier sind; und wir wollen drei Hütten machen, dir eine und Mose eine und Elia eine!

⁶For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.

⁶Er wußte nämlich nicht, was er sagte; denn sie waren voller Furcht.

⁷And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

⁷Und eine Wolke kam, die überschattete sie, und eine Stimme kam aus der Wolke: Dies ist mein geliebter Sohn; auf ihn sollt ihr hören!

⁸And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

⁸Und plötzlich, als sie umherblickten, sahen sie niemand mehr bei sich als Jesus allein.

⁹And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.

⁹Als sie aber vom Berg herabgingen, gebot er ihnen, niemandem zu erzählen, was sie gesehen hatten, bis des Menschen Sohn von den Toten auferstanden sei.

¹⁰And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.

¹⁰Und sie behielten das Wort bei sich und besprachen sich untereinander, was das Auferstehen von den Toten bedeute.

¹¹And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?

¹¹Und sie fragten ihn und sprachen: Warum sagen die Schriftgelehrten, daß zuvor Elia kommen müsse?

¹²And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.

¹²Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Elia kommt zwar zuvor und stellt alles her; und wie steht über den Sohn des Menschen geschrieben? Daß er viel leiden und verachtet werden müsse!

¹³But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.

¹³Aber ich sage euch, daß Elia schon gekommen ist, und sie taten ihm, was sie wollten, wie über ihn geschrieben steht.

¹⁴And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.

¹⁴Und als sie zu den Jüngern kamen, sahen sie eine große Volksmenge um sie her und Schriftgelehrte, die sich mit ihnen besprachen.

¹⁵And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.

¹⁵Und alsbald geriet die ganze Menge in Bewegung, als sie ihn sahen, und sie liefen herzu und grüßten ihn.

¹⁶And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?

¹⁶Und er fragte die Schriftgelehrten: Was besprechet ihr euch mit ihnen?

¹⁷And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;

¹⁷Und einer aus dem Volke antwortete: Meister, ich habe meinen Sohn zu dir gebracht, der hat einen sprachlosen Geist;

¹⁸And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.

¹⁸und wo der ihn ergreift, da reißt er ihn, und er schäumt und knirscht mit seinen Zähnen und wird starr; und ich habe zu deinen Jüngern gesagt, sie sollten ihn austreiben; aber sie vermochten es nicht!

¹⁹He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

¹⁹Er aber antwortete ihnen und sprach: O du ungläubiges Geschlecht, wie lange soll ich bei euch sein? Wie lange soll ich euch ertragen? Bringet ihn her zu mir!

²⁰And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

²⁰Und sie brachten ihn zu ihm. Und sobald der Geist ihn sah, riß er ihn heftig, und er fiel auf die Erde, wälzte sich und schäumte.

²¹And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.

²¹Und er fragte seinen Vater: Wie lange geht es ihm schon so? Er sprach: Von Kindheit an;

²²And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

²²und er hat ihn oft ins Feuer und ins Wasser geworfen, um ihn umzubringen; kannst du aber etwas, so erbarme dich über uns und hilf uns!

²³Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

²³Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: «Wenn du etwas kannst?» Alles ist möglich dem, der glaubt!

²⁴And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

²⁴Und alsbald schrie der Vater des Knaben mit Tränen und sprach: Ich glaube; hilf meinem Unglauben!

²⁵When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

²⁵Da nun Jesus das Volk herbeilaufen sah, bedrohte er den unreinen Geist und sprach zu ihm: Du sprachloser und tauber Geist, ich gebiete dir, fahre aus von ihm und fahre nicht mehr in ihn hinein!

²⁶And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

²⁶Da schrie er und riß ihn heftig und fuhr aus; und der Knabe wurde wie tot, so daß auch viele sagten: Er ist tot!

²⁷But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

²⁷Aber Jesus ergriff ihn bei der Hand und richtete ihn auf; und er stand auf.

²⁸And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?

²⁸Und als er in ein Haus getreten war, fragten ihn seine Jünger für sich allein: Warum konnten wir ihn nicht austreiben?

²⁹And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

²⁹Und er sprach zu ihnen: Diese Art kann durch nichts ausfahren, außer durch Beten und Fasten.

³⁰And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.

³⁰Und sie gingen von dort weg und zogen durch Galiläa. Und er wollte nicht, daß es jemand erfahre.

³¹For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.

³¹Denn er lehrte seine Jünger und sprach zu ihnen: Des Menschen Sohn wird in der Menschen Hände übergeben; und sie werden ihn töten, und nachdem er getötet worden ist, wird er am dritten Tage wieder auferstehen.

³²But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

³²Sie aber verstanden das Wort nicht und fürchteten sich, ihn zu fragen.

³³And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?

³³Und er kam nach Kapernaum; und als er zu Hause angelangt war, fragte er sie: Was habt ihr unterwegs miteinander verhandelt?

³⁴But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.

³⁴Sie aber schwiegen; denn sie hatten unterwegs miteinander verhandelt, wer der Größte sei.

³⁵And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

³⁵Und er setzte sich und rief die Zwölf und sprach zu ihnen: Wenn jemand der Erste sein will, so sei er von allen der Letzte und aller Diener.

³⁶And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,

³⁶Und er nahm ein Kind und stellte es mitten unter sie; und nachdem er es in die Arme genommen, sprach er zu ihnen:

³⁷Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

³⁷Wer ein solches Kindlein in meinem Namen aufnimmt, der nimmt mich auf; und wer mich aufnimmt, der nimmt nicht mich auf, sondern den, der mich gesandt hat.

³⁸And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.

³⁸Johannes aber antwortete ihm und sprach: Meister, wir sahen einen, der uns nicht nachfolgt, in deinem Namen Dämonen austreiben, und wir wehrten es ihm, weil er uns nicht nachfolgt.

³⁹But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.

³⁹Jesus aber sprach: Wehret es ihm nicht! Denn wer in meinem Namen ein Wunder tut, wird mich nicht bald schmähen können.

⁴⁰For he that is not against us is on our part.

⁴⁰Denn wer nicht wider uns ist, der ist für uns.

⁴¹For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

⁴¹Denn wer euch einen Becher Wasser in meinem Namen zu trinken gibt, weil ihr Christus angehört, wahrlich, ich sage euch, dem wird sein Lohn nicht ausbleiben.

⁴²And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

⁴²Wer aber einem dieser Kleinen, die an mich glauben, Ärgernis gibt, für den wäre es besser, daß ein Mühlstein um seinen Hals gelegt und er ins Meer geworfen würde.

⁴³And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

⁴³Und wenn deine Hand für dich ein Anstoß zur Sünde wird, so haue sie ab! Es ist besser für dich, daß du als Krüppel in das Leben eingehest, als daß du beide Hände habest und in die Hölle fahrest, in das unauslöschliche Feuer,

⁴⁴Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

⁴⁴wo ihr Wurm nicht stirbt und das Feuer nicht erlischt.

⁴⁵And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

⁴⁵Und wenn dein Fuß für dich ein Anstoß zur Sünde wird, so haue ihn ab! Es ist besser für dich, daß du lahm in das Leben eingehest, als daß du beide Füße habest und in die Hölle geworfen werdest, in das unauslöschliche Feuer,

⁴⁶Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

⁴⁶wo ihr Wurm nicht stirbt und das Feuer nicht erlischt.

⁴⁷And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:

⁴⁷Und wenn dein Auge für dich ein Anstoß zur Sünde wird, so reiße es aus! Es ist besser für dich, daß du einäugig in das Reich Gottes eingehest, als daß du zwei Augen habest und in das höllische Feuer geworfen werdest,

⁴⁸Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

⁴⁸wo ihr Wurm nicht stirbt und das Feuer nicht erlischt.

⁴⁹For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.

⁴⁹Denn ein jeglicher muß mit Feuer gesalzen werden, wie jedes Opfer mit Salz gesalzen wird.

⁵⁰Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

⁵⁰Das Salz ist ein gutes Ding; wenn aber das Salz salzlos wird, womit wollt ihr es würzen? Habt Salz bei euch und haltet Frieden untereinander!
