¹Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

¹Darum, meine geliebten und ersehnten Brüder, meine Freude und meine Krone, stehet also fest im Herrn!

²I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

²Euodia ermahne ich und Syntyche ermahne ich, eines Sinnes zu sein im Herrn.

³And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

³Ja, ich bitte auch dich, mein treuer Mitknecht, nimm dich ihrer an, die mit mir als Streiter gedient haben am Evangelium, samt Clemens und meinen übrigen Mitarbeitern, deren Namen im Buch des Lebens sind.

⁴Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

⁴Freuet euch im Herrn allezeit; und abermal sage ich: Freuet euch!

⁵Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

⁵Eure Sanftmut lasset alle Menschen erfahren! Der Herr ist nahe!

⁶Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

⁶Sorget um nichts; sondern in allem lasset durch Gebet und Flehen mit Danksagung eure Anliegen vor Gott kundwerden.

⁷And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

⁷Und der Friede Gottes, der allen Verstand übersteigt, wird eure Herzen und Sinne bewahren in Christus Jesus!

⁸Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

⁸Im übrigen, meine Brüder, was wahrhaftig, was ehrbar, was gerecht, was keusch, was liebenswert, was wohllautend, was irgend eine Tugend oder ein Lob ist, dem denket nach;

⁹Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

⁹was ihr auch gelernt und empfangen und gehört und an mir gesehen habt, das tut; so wird der Gott des Friedens mit euch sein.

¹⁰But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

¹⁰Ich bin aber hoch erfreut worden im Herrn, daß ihr euch wieder soweit erholt habt, um für mich sorgen zu können; worauf ihr auch sonst bedacht waret, aber ihr waret nicht in der Lage dazu.

¹¹Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

¹¹Nicht Mangels halber sage ich das; denn ich habe gelernt, mit der Lage zufrieden zu sein, in welcher ich mich befinde.

¹²I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

¹²Ich verstehe mich so gut aufs Armsein wie aufs Reichsein;

¹³I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

¹³ich bin in allem und für alles geübt, sowohl satt zu sein, als zu hungern, sowohl Überfluß zu haben, als Mangel zu leiden. Ich vermag alles durch den, der mich stark macht.

¹⁴Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

¹⁴Doch habt ihr wohlgetan, daß ihr euch meiner bedrängten Lage annahmet.

¹⁵Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

¹⁵Ihr wisset aber auch, ihr Philipper, daß im Anfang des Evangeliums, als ich von Mazedonien auszog, keine Gemeinde sich mit mir geteilt hat in die Rechnung der Einnahmen und Ausgaben, als ihr allein;

¹⁶For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

¹⁶ja auch nach Thessalonich habt ihr mir einmal, und sogar zweimal, zur Deckung meiner Bedürfnisse gesandt.

¹⁷Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

¹⁷Nicht daß ich nach der Gabe verlange, sondern ich verlange darnach, daß die Frucht reichlich ausfalle auf eurer Rechnung.

¹⁸But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

¹⁸Ich habe alles, was ich brauche , und habe Überfluß; ich bin völlig versorgt, seitdem ich von Epaphroditus eure Gabe empfangen habe, einen lieblichen Wohlgeruch, ein angenehmes Opfer, Gott wohlgefällig.

¹⁹But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

¹⁹Mein Gott aber befriedige alle eure Bedürfnisse nach seinem Reichtum in Herrlichkeit, in Christus Jesus!

²⁰Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

²⁰Unsrem Gott und Vater aber sei die Ehre von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! Amen.
