¹Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions:

¹Ein Wallfahrtslied. Gedenke, o HERR, dem David alle seine Mühen,

²How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;

²daß er dem HERRN schwur und dem Mächtigen Jakobs gelobte:

³Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;

³Ich will nicht in das Zelt meines Hauses gehen, noch auf das Lager meines Bettes steigen,

⁴I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,

⁴ich will meinen Augen keinen Schlaf und meinen Augenlidern keinen Schlummer gönnen,

⁵Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

⁵bis ich eine Stätte gefunden habe für den HERRN, eine Wohnung für den Mächtigen Jakobs!

⁶Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.

⁶Siehe, wir hörten, sie sei zu Ephrata; wir haben sie gefunden im Gefilde von Jear!

⁷We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.

⁷Wir wollen kommen zu seiner Wohnung, wir wollen anbeten beim Schemel seiner Füße!

⁸Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.

⁸HERR, mache dich auf zu deiner Ruhestatt, du und die Lade deiner Macht!

⁹Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.

⁹Deine Priester sollen sich in Gerechtigkeit kleiden, und deine Frommen sollen jubeln.

¹⁰For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.

¹⁰Um Davids, deines Knechtes willen weise nicht ab das Angesicht deines Gesalbten!

¹¹The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

¹¹Der HERR hat David in Wahrheit geschworen, davon wird er nicht abgehen: «Von der Frucht deines Leibes will ich setzen auf deinen Thron!

¹²If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

¹²Werden deine Söhne meinen Bund bewahren und meine Zeugnisse, die ich sie lehren will, so sollen auch ihre Söhne für immer sitzen auf deinem Thron!»

¹³For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

¹³Denn der HERR hat Zion erwählt und sie zu seiner Wohnung begehrt:

¹⁴This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

¹⁴«Dies ist für immer meine Ruhestatt, hier will ich wohnen; denn so habe ich es begehrt.

¹⁵I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

¹⁵Ihre Nahrung will ich reichlich segnen, ihre Armen sättigen mit Brot.

¹⁶I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

¹⁶Ihre Priester will ich mit Heil bekleiden, und ihre Frommen sollen jubeln.

¹⁷There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

¹⁷Dort will ich dem David ein Horn hervorsprossen lassen, eine Leuchte zurichten meinem Gesalbten.

¹⁸His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.

¹⁸Seine Feinde will ich mit Schande bekleiden; aber auf ihm soll seine Krone glänzen!»
