¹The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

¹Dem Vorsänger. Ein Psalm Davids. (H19-2) Die Himmel erzählen die Ehre Gottes, und die Feste verkündigt seiner Hände Werk.

²Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

²(H19-3) Ein Tag sagt es dem andern, und eine Nacht tut es der andern kund,

³There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

³(H19-4) ohne Sprache und ohne Worte, und ihre Stimme wird nicht gehört.

⁴Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

⁴(H19-5) Ihre Stimme geht aus ins ganze Land und ihre Rede bis ans Ende der Welt. Dort hat er der Sonne ein Zelt gemacht.

⁵Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

⁵(H19-6) Und sie geht hervor wie ein Bräutigam aus seiner Kammer und freut sich, wie ein Held zu laufen die Bahn.

⁶His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

⁶(H19-7) Sie geht an einem Ende des Himmels auf und läuft um bis ans andere Ende, und nichts bleibt vor ihrer Glut verborgen.

⁷The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

⁷(H19-8) Das Gesetz des HERRN ist vollkommen und erquickt die Seele; das Zeugnis des HERRN ist zuverlässig und macht die Einfältigen weise.

⁸The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

⁸(H19-9) Die Befehle des HERRN sind richtig und erfreuen das Herz, das Gebot des HERRN ist lauter und erleuchtet die Augen;

⁹The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

⁹(H19-10) die Furcht des HERRN ist rein und bleibt ewig, die Verordnungen des HERRN sind wahrhaft, allesamt gerecht.

¹⁰More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

¹⁰(H19-11) Sie sind begehrenswerter als Gold und viel Feingold, süßer als Honig und Honigseim.

¹¹Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

¹¹(H19-12) Auch dein Knecht wird durch sie erleuchtet, und wer sie beobachtet, dem wird reicher Lohn.

¹²Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

¹²(H19-13) Verfehlungen! Wer erkennt sie? Sprich mich los von den verborgenen!

¹³Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

¹³(H19-14) Auch vor den Übermütigen bewahre deinen Knecht, daß sie nicht über mich herrschen; dann werde ich unschuldig sein und frei bleiben von großer Missetat!

¹⁴Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

¹⁴(H19-15) Laß dir wohlgefallen die Rede meines Mundes und das Gespräch meines Herzens vor dir, HERR, mein Fels und mein Erlöser!
