1O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
1Ein Psalm Davids, als er in der Wüste Juda war. (H63-2) O Gott, du bist mein Gott; frühe suche ich dich; es dürstet meine Seele nach dir, mein Fleisch schmachtet nach dir in einem dürren, müden Land, wo kein Wasser ist!
2To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
2(H63-3) Wie gern sähe ich deine Macht und Herrlichkeit so, wie ich dich im Heiligtum sah;
3Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
3(H63-4) denn deine Gnade ist besser als Leben; meine Lippen sollen dich preisen.
4Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
4(H63-5) So will ich dich loben mein Leben lang, in deinem Namen meine Hände aufheben.
5My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
5(H63-6) Meine Seele wird satt wie von Fett und Mark, und mit jauchzenden Lippen lobt dich mein Mund,
6When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
6(H63-7) wenn ich deiner gedenke auf meinem Lager, in den Nachtwachen über dich sinne;
7Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
7(H63-8) denn du bist meine Hilfe geworden, und unter dem Schatten deiner Flügel juble ich.
8My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
8(H63-9) Meine Seele hängt dir an, deine Rechte hält mich fest.
9But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
9(H63-10) Jene aber, die meine Seele zu verderben trachten, müssen hinabfahren in die untersten Örter der Erde!
10They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
10(H63-11) Man wird sie dem Schwerte preisgeben, eine Beute der Schakale werden sie sein!
11But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
11(H63-12) Der König aber soll sich freuen in Gott; wer bei ihm schwört, wird sich glücklich preisen; aber jedes Lügenmaul wird verstopft!
