¹And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

¹Und dem Engel der Gemeinde in Sardes schreibe: Das sagt der, welcher die sieben Geister Gottes und die sieben Sterne hat: Ich weiß deine Werke: du hast den Namen, daß du lebest, und bist tot.

²Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

²Werde wach und stärke das übrige, was sterben will; denn ich habe deine Werke nicht vollendet erfunden vor meinem Gott.

³Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

³So denke nun daran, wie du empfangen und gehört hast, und bewahre es und tue Buße. Wenn du nun nicht wachst, werde ich über dich kommen wie ein Dieb, und du wirst nicht merken, zu welcher Stunde ich über dich kommen werde.

⁴Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

⁴Aber du hast einige wenige Namen in Sardes, welche ihre Kleider nicht befleckt haben; und sie werden mit mir wandeln in weißen Kleidern, denn sie sind es wert.

⁵He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

⁵Wer überwindet, der soll mit weißen Kleidern angetan werden; und ich will seinen Namen nicht tilgen aus dem Buch des Lebens und will seinen Namen bekennen vor meinem Vater und vor seinen Engeln.

⁶He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

⁶Wer ein Ohr hat, der höre, was der Geist den Gemeinden sagt!

⁷And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

⁷Und dem Engel der Gemeinde in Philadelphia schreibe: Das sagt der Heilige, der Wahrhaftige, welcher den Schlüssel Davids hat; der öffnet, daß niemand zuschließt, und zuschließt, daß niemand öffnet:

⁸I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

⁸Ich weiß deine Werke. Siehe, ich habe vor dir eine geöffnete Tür gegeben, die niemand schließen kann; denn du hast eine kleine Kraft und hast mein Wort bewahrt und meinen Namen nicht verleugnet.

⁹Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

⁹Siehe, ich verschaffe, daß solche aus der Synagoge des Satans, die sich Juden nennen und es nicht sind, sondern lügen, siehe, ich will sie dazu bringen, daß sie kommen und vor deinen Füßen niederfallen und erkennen, daß ich dich geliebt habe.

¹⁰Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

¹⁰Weil du das Wort meiner Geduld bewahrt hast, will auch ich dich bewahren vor der Stunde der Versuchung, die über den ganzen Erdkreis kommen wird, zu versuchen, die auf Erden wohnen.

¹¹Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

¹¹Ich komme bald; halte fest, was du hast, damit niemand deine Krone nehme!

¹²Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

¹²Wer überwindet, den will ich zu einem Pfeiler im Tempel meines Gottes machen, und er wird nicht mehr hinausgehen; und ich will auf ihn den Namen meines Gottes schreiben und den Namen der Stadt meines Gottes, des neuen Jerusalem, welches aus dem Himmel von meinem Gott herabkommt, und meinen Namen, den neuen.

¹⁴Und dem Engel der Gemeinde in Laodizea schreibe: Das sagt der Amen, der treue und wahrhaftige Zeuge, der Ursprung der Schöpfung Gottes:

¹⁵I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

¹⁵Ich weiß deine Werke, daß du weder kalt noch warm bist. Ach, daß du kalt oder warm wärest!

¹⁶So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

¹⁶So aber, weil du lau bist und weder kalt noch warm, werde ich dich ausspeien aus meinem Munde.

¹⁷Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

¹⁷Denn du sprichst: Ich bin reich und habe Überfluß und bedarf nichts! und weißt nicht, daß du elend und erbärmlich bist, arm, blind und bloß!

¹⁸I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

¹⁸Ich rate dir, von mir Gold zu kaufen, das im Feuer geglüht ist, damit du reich werdest, und weiße Kleider, damit du dich bekleidest und die Schande deiner Blöße nicht offenbar werde, und Augensalbe, um deine Augen zu salben, damit du sehest.

¹⁹As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

¹⁹Welche ich liebhabe, die strafe und züchtige ich. So sei nun fleißig und tue Buße!

²⁰Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

²⁰Siehe, ich stehe vor der Tür und klopfe an. Wenn jemand meine Stimme hört und die Tür öffnet, so werde ich zu ihm hineingehen und das Nachtmahl mit ihm einnehmen und er mit mir.

²¹To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

²¹Wer überwindet, dem will ich geben, mit mir auf meinem Thron zu sitzen, wie auch ich überwunden habe und mit meinem Vater sitze auf seinem Thron.
