1Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
1[] Επειδη λοιπον ο Χριστος επαθεν υπερ ημων κατα σαρκα, οπλισθητε και σεις το αυτο φρονημα, διοτι ο παθων κατα σαρκα επαυσεν απο της αμαρτιας,
2That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
2δια να ζησητε τον εν σαρκι επιλοιπον χρονον, ουχι πλεον εν ταις επιθυμιαις των ανθρωπων, αλλ' εν τω θεληματι του Θεου.
3For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
3Διοτι αρκετος ειναι εις ημας ο παρελθων καιρος του βιου, οτε επραξαμεν το θελημα των εθνων, περιπατησαντες εν ασελγειαις, επιθυμιαις, οινοποσιαις, κωμοις, συμποσιοις και αθεμιτοις ειδωλολατρειαις·
4Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
4[] και δια τουτο παραξενευονται οτι σεις δεν συντρεχετε με αυτους εις την αυτην εκχειλισιν της ασωτιας, και σας βλασφημουσιν·
5Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
5οιτινες θελουσιν αποδωσει λογον εις εκεινον, οστις ειναι ετοιμος να κρινη ζωντας και νεκρους.
6For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
6Επειδη δια τουτο εκηρυχθη το ευαγγελιον και προς τους νεκρους, δια να κριθωσι μεν κατα ανθρωπους εν σαρκι, να ζωσι δε κατα Θεον εν πνευματι.
7But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
7[] Παντων δε το τελος επλησιασε. Φρονιμως λοιπον διαγετε και αγρυπνειτε εις τας προσευχας·
8And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
8προ παντων δε εχετε ενθερμον την εις αλληλους αγαπην, διοτι η αγαπη θελει καλυψει πληθος αμαρτιων·
9Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
9γινεσθε φιλοξενοι εις αλληλους χωρις γογγυσμων·
10As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
10εκαστος κατα το χαρισμα, το οποιον ελαβεν, υπηρετειτε κατα τουτο εις αλληλους ως καλοι οικονομοι της πολυειδους χαριτος του Θεου·
11If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
11εαν τις λαλη, ας λαλη ως λαλων λογια Θεου· εαν τις υπηρετη, ας υπηρετη ως υπηρετων εκ της δυναμεως, την οποιαν χορηγει ο Θεος· δια να δοξαζηται εν πασιν ο Θεος δια Ιησου Χριστου, εις τον οποιον ειναι η δοξα και το κρατος εις τους αιωνας των αιωνων· αμην.
12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
12[] Αγαπητοι, μη παραξενευεσθε δια τον βασανισμον τον γινομενον εις εσας προς δοκιμασιαν, ως εαν συνεβαινεν εις εσας παραδοξον τι,
13But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
13αλλα καθοτι εισθε κοινωνοι των παθηματων του Χριστου, χαιρετε, ινα και οταν η δοξα αυτου φανερωθη χαρητε αγαλλιωμενοι.
14If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
14Εαν ονειδιζησθε δια το ονομα του Χριστου, εισθε μακαριοι, διοτι το Πνευμα της δοξης και το του Θεου αναπαυεται εφ' υμας· κατα μεν αυτους βλασφημειται, κατα δε υμας δοξαζεται.
15But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
15Διοτι μηδεις υμων ας μη πασχη ως φονευς η κλεπτης η κακοποιος η ως περιεργαζομενος τα αλλοτρια.
16Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
16αλλ' εαν πασχη ως Χριστιανος, ας μη αισχυνηται, αλλ' ας δοξαζη τον Θεον κατα τουτο.
17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
17Διοτι εφθασεν ο καιρος του να αρχιση η κρισις απο του οικου του Θεου· και αν αρχιζη πρωτον αφ' ημων, τι θελει εισθαι το τελος των απειθουντων εις το ευαγγελιον του Θεου;
18And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
18και αν ο δικαιος μολις σωζηται, ο ασεβης και αμαρτωλος που θελει φανη;
19Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
19Ωστε και οι πασχοντες κατα το θελημα του Θεου ας εμπιστευωνται τας εαυτων ψυχας εις αυτον, ως εις πιστον δημιουργον εν αγαθοποιια.
