1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
1[] Περι δε των χρονων και των καιρων, αδελφοι, δεν εχετε χρειαν να σας γραφη τις·
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
2διοτι σεις εξευρετε ακριβως οτι η ημερα του Κυριου ως κλεπτης εν νυκτι ουτως ερχεται.
3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
3Επειδη οταν λεγωσιν, Ειρηνη και ασφαλεια, τοτε επερχεται επ' αυτους αιφνιδιος ολεθρος, καθως αι ωδινες εις την εγκυμονουσαν, και δεν θελουσιν εκφυγει.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
4Αλλα σεις, αδελφοι, δεν εισθε εν σκοτει, ωστε η ημερα να σας καταφθαση ως κλεπτης·
5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
5παντες σεις εισθε υιοι φωτος και υιοι ημερας. Δεν ειμεθα νυκτος ουδε σκοτους.
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
6[] Αρα λοιπον ας μη κοιμωμεθα ως και οι λοιποι, αλλ' ας αγρυπνωμεν και ας εγκρατευωμεθα.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
7Διοτι οι κοιμωμενοι την νυκτα κοιμωνται, και οι μεθυοντες την νυκτα μεθυουσιν.
8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
8αλλ' ημεις, οντες της ημερας, ας εγκρατευωμεθα, ενδυθεντες τον θωρακα της πιστεως και αγαπης και περικεφαλαιαν την ελπιδα της σωτηριας·
9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
9διοτι ο Θεος δεν προσδιωρισεν ημας εις οργην, αλλ' εις απολαυσιν σωτηριας δια του Κυριου ημων Ιησου Χριστου,
10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
10οστις απεθανεν υπερ ημων, ινα ειτε αγρυπνουμεν ειτε κοιμωμεθα ζησωμεν μετ' αυτου.
11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
11[] Δια τουτο παρηγορειτε αλληλους και οικοδομειτε ο εις τον αλλον, καθως και καμνετε.
12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
12Σας παρακαλουμεν δε, αδελφοι, να γνωριζητε τους οσοι κοπιαζουσι μεταξυ σας και ειναι προεστωτες σας εν Κυριω και σας νουθετουσι,
13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
13και να τιματε αυτους εν αγαπη υπερεκπερισσου δια το εργον αυτων. Ειρηνευετε μεταξυ σας.
14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
14Σας παρακαλουμεν δε, αδελφοι, νουθετειτε τους ατακτους, παρηγορειτε τους ολιγοψυχους, περιθαλπετε τους ασθενεις, μακροθυμειτε προς παντας.
15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
15Προσεχετε μη αποδιδη τις εις τινα κακον αντι κακου, αλλα ζητειτε παντοτε το αγαθον και εις αλληλους και εις παντας.
16Rejoice evermore.
16[] Παντοτε χαιρετε,
17Pray without ceasing.
17αδιαλειπτως προσευχεσθε,
18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
18κατα παντα ευχαριστειτε· διοτι τουτο ειναι το θελημα του Θεου προς εσας εν Χριστω Ιησου.
19Quench not the Spirit.
19Το Πνευμα μη σβυνετε,
20Despise not prophesyings.
20προφητειας μη εξουθενειτε.
21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
21Παντα δοκιμαζετε, το καλον κατεχετε·
22Abstain from all appearance of evil.
22απο παντος ειδους κακου απεχεσθε.
23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
23[] Αυτος δε ο Θεος της ειρηνης ειθε να σας αγιαση ολοκληρως, και να διατηρηθη ολοκληρον το πνευμα σας και η ψυχη και το σωμα αμεμπτως εν τη παρουσια του Κυριου ημων Ιησου Χριστου.
24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
24Πιστος ειναι εκεινος οστις σας καλει, οστις και θελει εκτελεσει.
25Brethren, pray for us.
25Αδελφοι, προσευχεσθε περι ημων.
26Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
26Ασπασθητε τους αδελφους παντας εν φιληματι αγιω.
27I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
27Σας ορκιζω εις τον Κυριον να αναγνωσθη η επιστολη εις παντας τους αγιους αδελφους.
28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
28Η χαρις του Κυριου ημων Ιησου Χριστου ειη μεθ' υμων· αμην.
