1Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
1[] Πρεσβυτερον μη επιπληξης, αλλα προτρεπε ως πατερα, τους νεωτερους ως αδελφους,
2The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
2τας πρεσβυτερας ως μητερας, τας νεωτερας ως αδελφας μετα πασης καθαροτητος.
3Honour widows that are widows indeed.
3[] Τας χηρας τιμα τας αληθως χηρας.
4But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
4Εαν δε τις χηρα εχη τεκνα η εκγονα, ας μανθανωσι πρωτον να καθιστωσιν ευσεβη τον ιδιον αυτων οικον και να αποδιδωσιν αμοιβας εις τους προγονους αυτων. Διοτι τουτο ειναι καλον και ευπροσδεκτον ενωπιον του Θεου.
5Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
5Η δε αληθως χηρα και μεμονωμενη ελπιζει επι τον Θεον και εμμενει εις τας δεησεις και τας προσευχας νυκτα και ημεραν·
6But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
6η δεδομενη ομως εις τας ηδονας ενω ζη ειναι νεκρα.
7And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
7Και ταυτα παραγγελλε, δια να ηναι αμεμπτοι.
8But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
8Αλλ' εαν τις δεν προνοη περι των εαυτου και μαλιστα των οικειων, ηρνηθη την πιστιν και ειναι απιστου χειροτερος.
9Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.
9Ας καταγραφηται χηρα ουχι ολιγωτερον των εξηκοντα ετων, ητις υπηρξεν ενος ανδρος γυνη,
10Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
10ητις μαρτυρειται δια τα καλα αυτης εργα, εαν ανεθρεψε τεκνα, εαν περιεθαλψε ξενους, εαν ποδας αγιων ενιψεν, εαν θλιβομενους εβοηθησεν, εαν επηκολουθησεν εις παν εργον αγαθον.
11But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
11Τας δε νεωτερας χηρας αποβαλλε· διοτι αφου εντρυφησωσι κατα του Χριστου, θελουσι να υπανδρευωνται,
12Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
12εχουσαι την καταδικην, διοτι ηθετησαν την πρωτην πιστιν·
13And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
13και ενταυτω μανθανουσι να ηναι αργαι, περιερχομεναι τας οικιας, και ουχι μονον αργαι, αλλα και φλυαροι και περιεργοι, λαλουσαι τα μη πρεποντα.
14I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
14Θελω λοιπον αι νεωτεραι να υπανδρευωνται, να τεκνοποιωσι, να κυβερνωσιν οικον, να μη διδωσι μηδεμιαν αφορμην εις τον εναντιον να λοιδορη.
15For some are already turned aside after Satan.
15Διοτι εξετραπησαν ηδη τινες οπισω του Σατανα.
16If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
16Εαν τις πιστος η πιστη εχη χηρας, ας προμηθευη εις αυτας τα αναγκαια, και ας μη επιβαρυνηται η εκκλησια, δια να δυναται να βοηθη τας αληθως χηρας.
17Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
17[] Οι καλως προισταμενοι πρεσβυτεροι ας αξιονωνται διπλης τιμης, μαλιστα οσοι κοπιαζουσιν εις λογον και διδασκαλιαν·
18For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
18διοτι λεγει η γραφη· Δεν θελεις εμφραξει το στομα βοος αλωνιζοντος· και, Αξιος ειναι ο εργατης του μισθου αυτου.
19Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
19Κατηγοριαν εναντιον πρεσβυτερου μη παραδεχου, εκτος δια στοματος δυο η τριων μαρτυρων.
20Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
20Τους αμαρτανοντας ελεγχε ενωπιον παντων, δια να εχωσι φοβον και οι λοιποι.
21I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
21Διαμαρτυρομαι ενωπιον του Θεου και του Κυριου Ιησου Χριστου και των εκλεκτων αγγελων, να φυλαξης ταυτα, χωρις προτιμησεως, μηδεν πραττων κατα χαριν.
22Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.
22Μη επιθετε χειρας ταχεως εις μηδενα, μηδε γινου κοινωνος αλλοτριων αμαρτιων· φυλαττε σεαυτον καθαρον.
23Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
23Μη υδροποτει πλεον, αλλα μεταχειριζου ολιγον οινον δια τον στομαχον σου και τας συχνας σου ασθενειας.
24Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
24Τινων ανθρωπων αι αμαρτιαι ειναι φανεραι, και προπορευονται αυτων εις την κρισιν, εις τινας δε και επακολουθουσιν·
25Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
25ωσαυτως και τα καλα εργα τινων ειναι φανερα, και οσα ειναι κατ' αλλον τροπον δεν δυνανται να κρυφθωσι.
