1After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.
1[] Μετα τα πραγματα ταυτα εμεγαλυνεν ο βασιλευς Ασσουηρης τον Αμαν, τον υιον του Αμμεδαθα του Αγαγιτου, και υψωσεν αυτον και εθεσε τον θρονον αυτου υπερανω παντων των αρχοντων των περι αυτον.
2And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.
2Και παντες οι δουλοι του βασιλεως, οι εν τη βασιλικη πυλη, εκλινον και προσεκυνουν τον Αμαν· διοτι ουτω προσεταξεν ο βασιλευς περι αυτου. Ο Μαροδοχαιος ομως δεν εκλινε και δεν προσεκυνει αυτον.
3Then the king's servants, which were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king's commandment?
3Και ειπον οι δουλοι του βασιλεως, οι εν τη βασιλικη πυλη, προς τον Μαροδοχαιον, Δια τι συ παραβαινεις την προσταγην του βασιλεως;
4Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.
4Αφου δε καθ' ημεραν ελεγον προς αυτον, και εκεινος δεν υπηκουεν εις αυτους, απηγγειλαν τουτο προς τον Αμαν, δια να ιδωσιν αν οι λογοι του Μαροδοχαιου ησαν στερεοι· διοτι ειχε φανερωσει προς αυτους οτι ητο Ιουδαιος.
5And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.
5Και οτε ο Αμαν ειδεν οτι ο Μαροδοχαιος δεν εκλινε και δεν προσεκυνει αυτον, ενεπλησθη θυμου ο Αμαν.
6And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.
6Και εστοχασθη ταπεινον να βαλη χειρα επι μονον τον Μαροδοχαιον· διοτι ειχον φανερωσει προς αυτον τον λαον του Μαροδοχαιου· οθεν εζητει ο Αμαν να αφανιση παντας τους Ιουδαιους τους εν παντι τω βασιλειω του Ασσουηρου, τον λαον του Μαροδοχαιου.
7In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.
7[] Και εν τω πρωτω μηνι, ουτος ειναι ο μην Νισαν, εν τω δωδεκατω ετει του βασιλεως Ασσουηρου, ερριψαν φουρ, ηγουν κληρον, ενωπιον του Αμαν, απο ημερας εις ημεραν και απο μηνος εις μηνα, μεχρι του δωδεκατου μηνος, ουτος ειναι ο μην Αδαρ.
8And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.
8Και ειπεν ο Αμαν προς τον βασιλεα Ασσουηρην, Υπαρχει τις λαος διεσπαρμενος και διακεχωρισμενος μεταξυ των λαων κατα πασας τας επαρχιας του βασιλειου σου· και οι νομοι αυτων διαφοροι των νομων παντων των λαων, και δεν φυλαττουσι τους νομους του βασιλεως· οθεν δεν αρμοζει εις τον βασιλεα να υποφερη αυτους·
9If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.
9εαν ηναι αρεστον εις τον βασιλεα, ας γραφη να εξολοθρευθωσι και εγω θελω μετρησει δεκα χιλιαδας ταλαντων αργυριου εις τας χειρας των οικονομων δια να φερωσιν εις τα θησαυροφυλακια του βασιλεως.
10And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.
10Και εκβαλων ο βασιλευς το δακτυλιδιον αυτου απο της χειρος αυτου, εδωκεν αυτο εις τον Αμαν τον υιον του Αμμεδαθα του Αγαγιτου, τον εχθρον των Ιουδαιων,
11And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.
11Και ειπεν ο βασιλευς προς τον Αμαν· το αργυριον διδεται εις σε, και ο λαος, δια να καμης εις αυτον οπως σοι αρεσκει.
12Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.
12Και προσεκληθησαν οι γραμματεις του βασιλεως την δεκατην τριτην ημεραν του πρωτου μηνος, και εγραφη κατα παντα οσα προσεταξεν ο Αμαν, προς τους σατραπας του βασιλεως και προς τους διοικητας τους κατα πασαν επαρχιαν και προς τους αρχοντας εκαστου λαου πασης επαρχιας κατα το γραφειν αυτων, και προς εκαστον λαον κατα την γλωσσαν αυτων· εν ονοματι του βασιλεως Ασσουηρου εγραφη και εσφραγισθη με το δακτυλιδιον του βασιλεως.
13And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.
13Και εσταλησαν γραμματα δια ταχυδρομων εις πασας τας επαρχιας του βασιλεως, δια να αφανισωσι, να φονευσωσι και να εξολοθρευσωσι παντας τους Ιουδαιους, νεους και γεροντας, νηπια και γυναικας, εν μια ημερα, την δεκατην τριτην του δωδεκατου μηνος, ουτος ειναι ο μην Αδαρ, και να διαρπασωσι τα υπαρχοντα αυτων.
14The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.
14Το αντιγραφον της επιστολης, το προς διαδοσιν του προσταγματος κατα πασαν επαρχιαν, εδημοσιευθη προς παντας τους λαους, δια να ηναι ετοιμοι εν εκεινη τη ημερα.
15The posts went out, being hastened by the king's commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.
15Οι ταχυδρομοι εξηλθον, σπευδοντες δια την προσταγην του βασιλεως, και η διαταγη εξεδοθη εν Σουσοις τη βασιλευουση. Ο δε βασιλευς και ο Αμαν εκαθησαν να συμποσιασωσιν· η δε πολις Σουσα ητο εν αμηχανια.
