1And Job answered and said,
1[] Ο δε Ιωβ απεκριθη και ειπε·
2No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
2σεις εισθε αληθως οι ανθρωποι, και με σας θελει τελευτησει η σοφια.
3But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
3Και εγω εχω συνεσιν ως και υμεις· δεν ειμαι κατωτερος υμων· και τις δεν γνωριζει τοιαυτα πραγματα;
4I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.
4Εγεινα χλευη εις τον πλησιον μου, οστις επικαλουμαι τον Θεον, και μοι αποκρινεται. Ο δικαιος και αμεμπτος περιγελαται.
5He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.
5Ο κινδυνευων να ολισθηση με τους ποδας ειναι εις τον στοχασμον του ευτυχουντος ως λυχνος καταπεφρονημενος.
6The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.
6[] Αι σκηναι των ληστων ευτυχουσι, και οι παροργιζοντες τον Θεον ειναι εν ασφαλεια, εις τας χειρας των οποιων ο Θεος φερει αφθονιαν.
7But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
7Αλλ' ερωτησον τωρα τα ζωα, και θελουσι σε διδαξει· και τα πετεινα του ουρανου, και θελουσι σοι απαγγειλει·
8Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
8η λαλησον προς την γην, και θελει σε διδαξει· και οι ιχθυες της θαλασσης θελουσι σοι διηγηθη.
9Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
9Τις εκ παντων τουτων δεν γνωριζει, οτι η χειρ του Κυριου εκαμε ταυτα;
10In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
10Εν τη χειρι του οποιου ειναι ψυχη παντων των ζωντων και η πνοη πασης ανθρωπινης σαρκος.
11Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?
11Το ωτιον δεν διακρινει τους λογους; και ο ουρανισκος λαμβανει γευσιν του φαγητου αυτου;
12With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
12[] Η σοφια ειναι μετα των γεροντων, και η συνεσις εν τη μακροτητι των ημερων.
13With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
13Εν αυτω ειναι η σοφια και η δυναμις· αυτος εχει βουλην και συνεσιν.
14Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
14Ιδου, καταστρεφει, και δεν ανοικοδομειται· κλειει κατα του ανθρωπου, και ουδεις ο ανοιγων.
15Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
15Ιδου, κρατει τα υδατα, και ξηραινονται· παλιν εξαποστελλει αυτα, και καταστρεφουσι την γην.
16With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.
16Μετ' αυτου ειναι η δυναμις και η σοφια· αυτου ειναι ο απατωμενος και ο απατων.
17He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.
17Παραδιδει λαφυρον τους βουλευτας και μωραινει τους κριτας.
18He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.
18Λυει την ζωνην των βασιλεων και περιζωνει την οσφυν αυτων με σχοινιον.
19He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.
19Παραδιδει λαφυρον τους αρχοντας και καταστρεφει τους ισχυρους.
20He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.
20Αφαιρει τον λογον των δεινων ρητορων, και σηκονει την συνεσιν απο των πρεσβυτερων.
21He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.
21Εκχεει καταφρονησιν επι τους αρχοντας, και λυει την ζωνην των ισχυρων.
22He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.
22Αποκαλυπτει εκ του σκοτους βαθεα πραγματα, και εξαγει εις φως την σκιαν του θανατου.
23He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.
23Μεγαλυνει τα εθνη και αφανιζει αυτα· πλατυνει τα εθνη και συστελλει αυτα.
24He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
24Αφαιρει την καρδιαν απο των αρχηγων των λαων της γης, και καμνει αυτους να περιπλανωνται εν ερημω αβατω·
25They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.
25ψηλαφωσιν εν σκοτει χωρις φωτος, και καμνει αυτους να παραφερωνται ως ο μεθυων.
