1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
1[] Και ελαλησε Κυριος προς τον Μωυσην λεγων,
2Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
2Αποστειλον ανδρας δια να κατασκοπευσωσι την γην Χανααν, την οποιαν εγω διδω εις τους υιους Ισραηλ· απο πασης φυλης των πατερων αυτων θελετε αποστειλει ανα ενα ανδρα, εκαστον εξ αυτων αρχηγον.
3And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.
3Και απεστειλεν αυτους ο Μωυσης δια προσταγης του Κυριου εκ της ερημου Φαραν. Παντες οι ανδρες ουτοι ησαν αρχηγοι των υιων Ισραηλ.
4And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.
4Και ταυτα ησαν τα ονοματα αυτων· εκ της φυλης Ρουβην, Σαμμουα ο υιος του Σακχουρ·
5Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.
5εκ της φυλης Συμεων, Σαφατ ο υιος του Χορρι·
6Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
6εκ της φυλης Ιουδα, Χαλεβ ο υιος του Ιεφοννη·
7Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.
7εκ της φυλης Ισσαχαρ, Ιγαλ ο υιος του Ιωσηφ·
8Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.
8εκ της φυλης Εφραιμ, Αυση ο υιος του Ναυη·
9Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.
9εκ της φυλης Βενιαμιν, Φαλτι ο υιος του Ραφου·
10Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.
10εκ της φυλης Ζαβουλων, Γαδιηλ ο υιος του Σουδι·
11Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.
11εκ της φυλης Ιωσηφ, εκ της φυλης Μανασση, Γαδδι ο υιος του Σουσι·
12Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.
12εκ της φυλης Δαν, Αμμιηλ ο υιος του Γεμαλι·
13Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.
13εκ της φυλης Ασηρ, Σεθουρ ο υιος του Μιχαηλ·
14Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.
14εκ της φυλης Νεφθαλι, Νααβι ο υιος του Βαυσι·
15Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.
15εκ της φυλης Γαδ, Γεουηλ ο υιος του Μαχι.
16These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.
16Ταυτα ειναι τα ονοματα των ανδρων, τους οποιους απεστειλεν ο Μωυσης δια να κατασκοπευσωσι την γην· και επωνομασεν ο Μωυσης τον Αυση, τον υιον του Ναυη, Ιησουν.
17And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:
17Και απεστειλεν αυτους ο Μωυσης δια να κατασκοπευσωσι την γην Χανααν· και ειπε προς αυτους, Αναβητε απο του μερους τουτου της μεσημβριας και θελετε αναβη εις το ορος·
18And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;
18και θεωρησατε την γην, οποια ειναι, και τον λαον τον κατοικουντα εν αυτη, εαν ηναι δυνατος η αδυνατος, ολιγοι η πολλοι·
19And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
19και οποια ειναι η γη εν η ουτοι κατοικουσι, καλη ηναι η κακη· και οποιαι ειναι αι πολεις, τας οποιας ουτοι κατοικουσιν, ατειχιστοι η περιτετειχισμεναι·
20And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the first ripe grapes.
20και οποια ειναι η γη, παχεια ηναι η λεπτη, εαν υπαρχωσιν εν αυτη δενδρα η ουχι· και ανδριζεσθε και φερετε απο των καρπων της γης. Αι δε ημεραι ησαν αι ημεραι των πρωτων σταφυλων.
21So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.
21[] Και αναβαντες κατεσκοπευσαν την γην απο της ερημου Σιν εως Ρεωβ, κατα την εισοδον Αιμαθ.
22And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)
22Και ανεβησαν κατα το μεσημβρινον, και ηλθον εως Χεβρων, οπου ησαν Αχιμαν, Σεσαι και Θαλμαι, οι υιοι του Ανακ. Η δε Χεβρων εκτισθη επτα ετη προ της Τανεως της Αιγυπτου.
23And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
23Και ηλθον μεχρι της φαραγγος Εσχωλ, και εκοψαν εκειθεν κλημα αμπελου μετα ενος βοτρυος σταφυλης, και εβασταζον αυτο δυο επι ξυλου· εφεραν και ροδια και συκα.
24The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.
24Ο τοπος εκεινος ωνομασθη φαραγξ Εσχωλ· δια τον βοτρυν τον οποιον εκοψαν εκειθεν οι υιοι Ισραηλ.
25And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.
25Και επεστρεψαν, αφου κατεσκοπευσαν την γην, μετα τεσσαρακοντα ημερας.
26And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.
26[] Και πορευθεντες ηλθον προς τον Μωυσην, και προς τον Ααρων, και προς πασαν την συναγωγην των υιων Ισραηλ, εκ τη ερημω Φαραν, εις Καδης· και εφεραν αποκρισιν προς αυτους, και προς πασαν την συναγωγην, και εδειξαν εις αυτους τον καρπον της γης.
27And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
27Και απηγγειλαν προς αυτον, και ειπον, Ηλθομεν εις την γην, εις την οποιαν απεστειλας εμας, και ειναι τωοντι γη ρεουσα γαλα και μελι και ιδου, ο καρπος αυτης·
28Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
28ο λαος ομως, ο κατοικων εν τη γη, ειναι δυνατος, και αι πολεις περιτετειχισμεναι, μεγαλαι σφοδρα· προς τουτοις, ειδομεν εκει και τους υιους του Ανακ·
29The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
29οι Αμαληκιται κατοικουσιν εν τη γη της μεσημβριας· και οι Χετταιοι, και οι Ιεβουσαιοι, και οι Αμορραιοι, κατοικουσιν επι τα ορη· και οι Χαναναιοι κατοικουσι παρα την θαλασσαν και τας οχθας του Ιορδανου.
30And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
30Και ο Χαλεβ κατεσιγασε τον λαον εμπροσθεν του Μωυσεως, και ειπεν, Ας αναβωμεν ευθυς, και ας εξουσιασωμεν αυτην· διοτι δυναμεθα να κυριευσωμεν αυτην.
31But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
31Οι ανθρωποι ομως, οι συναναβαντες μετ' αυτου, ειπαν, Δεν δυναμεθα να αναβωμεν επι τον λαον τουτον, διοτι ειναι δυνατωτεροι ημων.
32And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
32Και δυσφημησαν την γην, την οποιαν κατεσκοπευσαν, προς τους υιους Ισραηλ, λεγοντες, Η γη, την οποιαν διεπερασαμεν δια να κατασκοπευσωμεν αυτην, ειναι γη κατατρωγουσα τους κατοικους αυτης· και πας ο λαος, τον οποιον ειδομεν εν αυτη ειναι ανδρες υπερμεγεθεις·
33And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
33και ειδομεν εκει τους γιγαντας, τους υιους Ανακ, του εκ των γιγαντων· και εβλεπομεν εαυτους ως ακριδας και τοιουτους εβλεπον ημας αυτοι.
