¹And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu;

¹[] Και εν τω τεταρτω ετει του βασιλεως Δαρειου εγεινε λογος Κυριου προς τον Ζαχαριαν τη τεταρτη του εννατου μηνος, του Χισλευ·

²When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regemmelech, and their men, to pray before the LORD,

²και εξαπεστειλαν εις τον οικον του Θεου τον Σαρεσερ και τον Ρεγεμ-μελεχ και τους ανθρωπους αυτων, δια να εξιλεωσωσι το προσωπον του Κυριου,

³And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

³να λαλησωσι προς τους ιερεις τους εν τω οικω του Κυριου των δυναμεων και προς τους προφητας, λεγοντες, Να κλαυσω εν τω μηνι τω πεμπτω αποχωρισθεις, καθως ηδη εκαμον τοσαυτα ετη;

⁴Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,

⁴Και εγεινε λογος του Κυριου των δυναμεων προς εμε, λεγων,

⁵Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

⁵Λαλησον προς παντα τον λαον της γης και προς τους ιερεις, λεγων, και επενθειτε εν τω πεμπτω και εν τω εβδομω μηνι τα εβδομηκοντα εκεινα ετη, ενηστευετε τωοντι δι' εμε; δι' εμε;

⁶And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

⁶Και οτε ετρωγετε και οτε επινετε, δεν ετρωγετε και επινετε δι' εαυτους;

⁷Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?

⁷δεν ειναι ουτοι οι λογοι, τους οποιους ο Κυριος ελαλησε δια των προτερων προφητων, οτε η Ιερουσαλημ ητο κατωκημενη και εν ευημερια και αι πολεις αυτης κυκλω εν αυτη, οτε κατωκειτο το μεσημβρινον και η πεδινη;

⁸And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying,

⁸[] Και εγεινε λογος Κυριου προς τον Ζαχαριαν, λεγων,

⁹Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

⁹Ουτω λεγει ο Κυριος των δυναμεων, λεγων, Κρινετε κρισιν αληθειας και καμνετε ελεος και οικτιρμον, εκαστος προς τον αδελφον αυτου,

¹⁰And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

¹⁰και μη καταδυναστευετε την χηραν και τον ορφανον, τον ξενον και τον πενητα, και μηδεις απο σας ας μη βουλευηται κακον κατα του αδελφου αυτου εν τη καρδια αυτου.

¹¹But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

¹¹Αλλ' ηρνηθησαν να προσεξωσι και εστρεψαν νωτα απειθη και εβαρυναν τα ωτα αυτων δια να μη ακουσωσι.

¹²Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.

¹²Ναι, αυτοι εκαμον τας καρδιας αυτων αδαμαντα, ωστε να μη ακουσωσι τον νομον και τους λογους, τους οποιους ο Κυριος των δυναμεων εξαπεστειλεν εν τω πνευματι αυτου δια των προτερων προφητων· δια τουτο ηλθεν οργη μεγαλη παρα του Κυριου των δυναμεων.

¹³Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:

¹³Οθεν καθως αυτος εκραξε και αυτοι δεν εισηκουον, ουτως αυτοι εκραξαν και εγω δεν εισηκουον, λεγει ο Κυριος των δυναμεων·

¹⁴But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

¹⁴αλλα διεσκορπισα αυτους ως δι' ανεμοστροβιλου εις παντα τα εθνη, τα οποια δεν εγνωριζον. Και ο τοπος ηρημωθη κατοπιν αυτων, ωστε δεν υπηρχεν ο διαβαινων ουδε ο επιστρεφων· και εθεσαν την γην την επιθυμητην εις ερημωσιν.
