1Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
1પછી કેટલાક ફરોશીઓ અને શાસ્ત્રીઓ યરૂશાલેમથી ઈસુની પાસે આવ્યા અને તેઓએ પૂછયું.
2Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
2“તારા શિષ્યો આપણા પૂર્વજોએ નક્કી કરેલા રીતરિવાજોનું પાલન કેમ નથી કરતાં? તેઓ ખાતા પહેલા તેમના હાથ કેમ ધોતા નથી!”
3But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
3ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “તમારા રીતરિવાજોનું પાલન કરવા માટે તમે દેવની આજ્ઞાનું પાલન કરવાની શા માટે ના પાડો છો?
4For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
4દેવે તો કહ્યું હતું કે, ‘તું તારા પિતા તથા તારી માનું સન્માન કર.’ અને દેવે એમ પણ કહ્યું હતું કે ‘જે પોતાના પિતા તથા માનું અપમાન કરે છે તેને અવશ્ય મારી નાખવો જોઈએ.’
5But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
5પણ તમે એમ કહો છો કે કોઈ વ્યક્તિ તેના પિતા કે માને એમ કહી શકે; ‘તમને મદદ કરવા માટે ઉપયોગમાં લઈ શકાય એવું જે કાંઈ મારી પાસે છે, તે દેવને અર્પણ કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. તેથી તમારી મદદ નહિ કરી શકું.’
6And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
6આમ તમે પોતાના બાપનું કે માતાનું સન્માન નહિ કરવાનું શીખવો છો. એમ તમે તમારા સંપ્રદાયથી દેવની આજ્ઞા રદ કરી છે. આ રીતે તમે બતાવો છો કે પૂર્વજોએ બનાવેલા રીતરિવાજોનું પાલન કરવું વધારે મહત્વનું છે.
7Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
7તમે દંભી છો! તમારા વિષે યશાયાએ જે ભવિષ્યવાણી કરી છે, તે સાચી છે:
8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
8‘આ લોકો પોતાના હોઠોથી મને માન આપે છે, પરંતુ તેઓનાં હૃદય મારાથી ઘણાં દૂર છે.
9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
9તેઓની મારા તરફની ભક્તિ નકામી છે. તેઓ દેવની આજ્ઞાઓને બદલે માણસોએ બનાવેલા નિયમોનો ઉપદેશ આપે છે.”‘ યશાયા 29:13
10And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
10પછી ઈસુએ લોકોને પાસે બોલાવીને કહ્યું, “હું જે કહું છું તે ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો અને સમજવા પ્રયત્ન કરો.
11Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
11મનુષ્ય જે ખોરાક ખાય છે, તેથી તે અપવિત્ર થઈ જતો નથી, પરંતુ તેના મુખમાંથી જે કોઈ શબ્દો નીકળે છે તેનાથી તે અશુદ્ધ બને છે તેનાથી તે અપવિત્ર થાય છે.”
12Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
12ત્યારે શિષ્યોએ આવીને ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, “શું તમને ખબર છે કે તમારી આ વાતથી ફરોશીઓ ગુસ્સે થયા છે?”
13But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
13ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “મારા આકાશમાંના બાપે રોપ્યાં નહિ હોય એવા દરેક છોડને મૂળમાંથી ઉખાડી નાંખવામાં આવશે.
14Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
14માટે ફરોશીઓની વાત જવા દો. જો એક આંધળો માણસ બીજા આંધળા માણસનો દોરશે તો બંન્ને જણ ખાડામાં પડશે.”
15Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
15પિતરે ઈસુને વિનંતી કરી કહ્યું, “અગાઉ લોકોને આપેલ દૃષ્ટાંતનો અર્થ સમજાવો.”
16And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
16ઈસુએ કહ્યુ, “હજુ પણ તમને સમજવામાં મુશ્કેલી છે?
17Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
17શું તમે નથી જાણતાં કે જે ખોરાક તમારા મોંમાં જાય છે તે પેટમાં જાય છે. પછી શરીરમાંથી બહાર નીકળી જાય છે અને તે ગટરમાં જાય છે.
18But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
18પરંતુ જે શબ્દો વ્યક્તિના મોંમાંથી નીકળે છે તે જે રીતે વ્યક્તિ વિચારે છે તેનું પરિણામ છે. આ શબ્દો માણસને અસ્વચ્છ બનાવે છે.
19For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
19કેમ કે ખરાબ વિચાર, હત્યા, વ્યભિચાર, દુરાચાર, જૂઠ, ચોરી, નિંદા જેવા દરેક ખરાબ વિચાર માણસના હૃદયમાંથી નીકળે છે.
20These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
20માણસને આજ વસ્તુ અપવિત્ર બનાવે છે. હાથ ધોયા વિના ખાવાથી કંઈ અશુદ્ધ થવાતું નથી.”
21Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
21પછી એ વિસ્તારમાંથી ઈસુ દૂર તૂર અને સિદોનના પ્રદેશમાં ગયો.
22And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
22ત્યાં રહેતી એક કનાની સ્ત્રીઓ ઈસુ પાસે આવીને જોરથી બૂમ પાડીને વિનંતી કરી, “ઓ પ્રભુ, દાઉદના દીકરા, મારા પર દયા કર, મારી દીકરીને ભૂત વળગેલું છે અને તે કાયમ રિબાયા કરે છે.”
23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
23પણ ઈસુએ તેને કશો જ ઉત્તર આપ્યો નહિ, શિષ્યોએ ઈસુને વિનંતી કરતાં કહ્યું, “તેને દૂર મોકલી દો. તે આપણી પાછળ આવે છે અને બૂમો પાડે છે.”
24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
24ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “દેવે મને ઈસ્રાએલના (યહૂદિઓ) ઘરનાં ખોવાયેલાં ઘેટાં પાસે મોકલ્યો છે.”
25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
25પછી તે સ્ત્રી ફરીથી ઈસુ પાસે આવી અને તેને પગે પડી કહેવા લાગી, “પ્રભુ, મને મદદ કર!”
26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
26ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “છોકરાઓની રોટલી લઈન કૂતરાંઓને આપવી એ બરાબર નથી.”
27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
27સ્ત્રીએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “હા પ્રભુ, એ તો ખરું છે પરંતુ કૂતરાંઓ પોતાના માલિકના મેજ નીચે પડેલા રોટલીના નાના ટુકડાઓ ખાય છે.”
28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
28ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “બાઈ, તારો વિશ્વાસ ઘણો છે! તારી ઈચ્છા પ્રમાણે તને થાઓ.” તેની દીકરી તે જ ઘડીએ સાજી થઈ ગઈ.
29And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
29પછી ઈસુએ તે સ્થળ છોડી દીઘું. અને ગાલીલના સરોવરના કિનારે ગયો. પછી તે એક ટેકરી પર ચઢયો અને ત્યાં બેઠો.
30And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
30લોકોનાં ટોળેટોળાં ત્યાં આવ્યાં લંગડા, આંધળા, ટુડાંઓને, મૂંગા અને બીજા ઘણા માંદા લોકોને ઈસુના પગ આગળ લાવીને તેમને મૂક્યાં અને તેણે તે બધાને સાજા કર્યા.
31Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
31લોકો આશ્ર્ચર્ય પામ્યા. કારણ કે તેઓએ મૂંગાઓને બોલતાં જોયાં, અપંગ સાજા થયાં, લંગડા ચાલતા થયાં અને આંધળા દેખતાં થયા છે! આથી લોકોએ ઈસ્રાએલના દેવની સ્તુતિ કરી.
32Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
32પછી ઈસુએ તેના શિષ્યોને પાસે બોલાવ્યા અને કહ્યું, “આ લોકો પર મને દયા આવે છે કારણ કે તેઓ ત્રણ દિવસથી સતત મારી સાથે છે. હવે એમની પાસે કંઈજ ખાવાનું નથી. હું તેમને ભૂખ્યા જવા દેવા માંગતો નથી, કદાચ રસ્તામાં તેઓ જતાં જતાં ભૂખથી બેભાન થઈ જાય.”
33And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
33પછી શિષ્યોએ કહ્યું, “આટલા બધા લોકોને જમાડવા આપણે પૂરતી રોટલી ક્યાંથી મેળવીશું અને આપણે કોઈપણ ગામથી ઘણા દૂર છીએ.”
34And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
34ઈસુએ પૂછયું, “તમારી પાસે કેટલી રોટલી છે?” શિષ્યોએ કહ્યું, “અમારી પાસે સાત રોટલીઓ અને થોડીક નાની માછલીઓ છે.”
35And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
35ઈસુએ લોકોને જમીન પર બેસી જવા કહ્યુ.
36And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
36ઈસુએ રોટલી અને માછલી લઈન દેવનો આભાર માન્યો અને તેણે રોટલીના ટૂકડા કરી શિષ્યોને આપ્યા અને શિષ્યોએ તે ટૂકડા લોકોને આપ્યા.
37And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
37દરેકે ઘરાઈને ખાધું. પછી વધેલા ટૂકડા ભેગા કર્યા અને તેની સાત ટોપલી ભરાઈ.
38And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
38ત્યાં જેઓએ ખાધું તેમાં સ્ત્રીઓ અને બાળકો ઉપરાંત 4,000 પુરુંષો હતા.
39And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
39પછી ઈસુએ લોકોને વિદાય કર્યા અને તેઓ હોડીમાં બેસી મગદાન પ્રદેશમાં ગયા.
