1The sons of Judah; Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.
1בני יהודה פרץ חצרון וכרמי וחור ושובל׃
2And Reaiah the son of Shobal begat Jahath; and Jahath begat Ahumai, and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.
2וראיה בן שובל הוליד את יחת ויחת הליד את אחומי ואת להד אלה משפחות הצרעתי׃
3And these were of the father of Etam; Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash: and the name of their sister was Hazelelponi:
3ואלה אבי עיטם יזרעאל וישמא וידבש ושם אחותם הצללפוני׃
4And Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah, the father of Bethlehem.
4ופנואל אבי גדר ועזר אבי חושה אלה בני חור בכור אפרתה אבי בית לחם׃
5And Ashur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
5ולאשחור אבי תקוע היו שתי נשים חלאה ונערה׃
6And Naarah bare him Ahuzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.
6ותלד לו נערה את אחזם ואת חפר ואת תימני ואת האחשתרי אלה בני נערה׃
7And the sons of Helah were, Zereth, and Jezoar, and Ethnan.
7ובני חלאה צרת יצחר ואתנן׃
8And Coz begat Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.
8וקוץ הוליד את ענוב ואת הצבבה ומשפחות אחרחל בן הרום׃
9And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
9ויהי יעבץ נכבד מאחיו ואמו קראה שמו יעבץ לאמר כי ילדתי בעצב׃
10And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
10ויקרא יעבץ לאלהי ישראל לאמר אם ברך תברכני והרבית את גבולי והיתה ידך עמי ועשית מרעה לבלתי עצבי ויבא אלהים את אשר שאל׃
11And Chelub the brother of Shuah begat Mehir, which was the father of Eshton.
11וכלוב אחי שוחה הוליד את מחיר הוא אבי אשתון׃
12And Eshton begat Bethrapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Irnahash. These are the men of Rechah.
12ואשתון הוליד את בית רפא ואת פסח ואת תחנה אבי עיר נחש אלה אנשי רכה׃
13And the sons of Kenaz; Othniel, and Seraiah: and the sons of Othniel; Hathath.
13ובני קנז עתניאל ושריה ובני עתניאל חתת׃
14And Meonothai begat Ophrah: and Seraiah begat Joab, the father of the valley of Charashim; for they were craftsmen.
14ומעונתי הוליד את עפרה ושריה הוליד את יואב אבי גיא חרשים כי חרשים היו׃
15And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh; Iru, Elah, and Naam: and the sons of Elah, even Kenaz.
15ובני כלב בן יפנה עירו אלה ונעם ובני אלה וקנז׃
16And the sons of Jehaleleel; Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asareel.
16ובני יהללאל זיף וזיפה תיריא ואשראל׃
17And the sons of Ezra were, Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon: and she bare Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.
17ובן עזרה יתר ומרד ועפר וילון ותהר את מרים ואת שמי ואת ישבח אבי אשתמע׃
18And his wife Jehudijah bare Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. And these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, which Mered took.
18ואשתו היהדיה ילדה את ירד אבי גדור ואת חבר אבי שוכו ואת יקותיאל אבי זנוח ואלה בני בתיה בת פרעה אשר לקח מרד׃
19And the sons of his wife Hodiah the sister of Naham, the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maachathite.
19ובני אשת הודיה אחות נחם אבי קעילה הגרמי ואשתמע המעכתי׃
20And the sons of Shimon were, Amnon, and Rinnah, Benhanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were, Zoheth, and Benzoheth.
20ובני שימון אמנון ורנה בן חנן ותולון ובני ישעי זוחת ובן זוחת׃
21The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were, Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea,
21בני שלה בן יהודה ער אבי לכה ולעדה אבי מרשה ומשפחות בית עבדת הבץ לבית אשבע׃
22And Jokim, and the men of Chozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had the dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. And these are ancient things.
22ויוקים ואנשי כזבא ויואש ושרף אשר בעלו למואב וישבי לחם והדברים עתיקים׃
23These were the potters, and those that dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his work.
23המה היוצרים וישבי נטעים וגדרה עם המלך במלאכתו ישבו שם׃
24The sons of Simeon were, Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul:
24בני שמעון נמואל וימין יריב זרח שאול׃
25Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.
25שלם בנו מבשם בנו משמע בנו׃
26And the sons of Mishma; Hamuel his son, Zacchur his son, Shimei his son.
26ובני משמע חמואל בנו זכור בנו שמעי בנו׃
27And Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters: but his brethren had not many children, neither did all their family multiply, like to the children of Judah.
27ולשמעי בנים ששה עשר ובנות שש ולאחיו אין בנים רבים וכל משפחתם לא הרבו עד בני יהודה׃
28And they dwelt at Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual,
28וישבו בבאר שבע ומולדה וחצר שועל׃
29And at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,
29ובבלהה ובעצם ובתולד׃
30And at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,
30ובבתואל ובחרמה ובציקלג׃
31And at Bethmarcaboth, and Hazarsusim, and at Bethbirei, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.
31ובבית מרכבות ובחצר סוסים ובבית בראי ובשערים אלה עריהם עד מלך דויד׃
32And their villages were, Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities:
32וחצריהם עיטם ועין רמון ותכן ועשן ערים חמש׃
33And all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto Baal. These were their habitations, and their genealogy.
33וכל חצריהם אשר סביבות הערים האלה עד בעל זאת מושבתם והתיחשם להם׃
34And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah, the son of Amaziah,
34ומשובב וימלך ויושה בן אמציה׃
35And Joel, and Jehu the son of Josibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,
35ויואל ויהוא בן יושביה בן שריה בן עשיאל׃
36And Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,
36ואליועיני ויעקבה וישוחיה ועשיה ועדיאל וישימאל ובניה׃
37And Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah;
37וזיזא בן שפעי בן אלון בן ידיה בן שמרי בן שמעיה׃
38These mentioned by their names were princes in their families: and the house of their fathers increased greatly.
38אלה הבאים בשמות נשיאים במשפחותם ובית אבותיהם פרצו לרוב׃
39And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
39וילכו למבוא גדר עד למזרח הגיא לבקש מרעה לצאנם׃
40And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old.
40וימצאו מרעה שמן וטוב והארץ רחבת ידים ושקטת ושלוה כי מן חם הישבים שם לפנים׃
41And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their flocks.
41ויבאו אלה הכתובים בשמות בימי יחזקיהו מלך יהודה ויכו את אהליהם ואת המעינים אשר נמצאו שמה ויחרימם עד היום הזה וישבו תחתיהם כי מרעה לצאנם שם׃
42And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
42ומהם מן בני שמעון הלכו להר שעיר אנשים חמש מאות ופלטיה ונעריה ורפיה ועזיאל בני ישעי בראשם׃
43And they smote the rest of the Amalekites that were escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.
43ויכו את שארית הפלטה לעמלק וישבו שם עד היום הזה׃
