¹Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah.

¹Pada tahun kedelapan belas pemerintahan Raja Yerobeam atas Israel, Abiam menjadi raja Yehuda

²Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. and his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

²dan memerintah selama tiga tahun di Yerusalem. Ibunya ialah Maakha, anak Abisalom.

³And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.

³Abiam melakukan dosa-dosa seperti ayahnya. Ia tidak sepenuh hati setia kepada TUHAN Allahnya, berlainan dengan Daud, kakek buyutnya.

⁴Nevertheless for David's sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:

⁴Tetapi, demi Raja Daud, maka TUHAN, Allah yang disembah oleh Daud, telah memberikan kepada Abiam seorang anak untuk menggantikan dia memerintah di Yerusalem dan mempertahankan kota itu.

⁵Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

⁵TUHAN melakukan hal itu oleh sebab Daud telah menyenangkan hati-Nya. Daud tidak pernah mengabaikan perintah-perintah TUHAN, kecuali dalam perkara Uria orang Het itu.

⁶And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

⁶Perang antara Rehabeam dan Yerobeam yang dimulai pada masa Rehabeam masih berlangsung selama pemerintahan Abiam.

⁷Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

⁷Kisah lainnya mengenai Abiam sudah dicatat dalam buku Sejarah Raja-raja Yehuda.

⁸And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.

⁸Abiam pun meninggal dan dimakamkan di Kota Daud. Asa anaknya menjadi raja menggantikan dia.

⁹And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah.

⁹Pada tahun kedua puluh pemerintahan Raja Yerobeam atas Israel, Asa menjadi raja Yehuda.

¹⁰And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

¹⁰Ia memerintah empat puluh satu tahun lamanya di Yerusalem. Neneknya ialah Maakha, anak Abisalom.

¹¹And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.

¹¹Seperti Daud, nenek moyangnya, Asa menyenangkan hati TUHAN.

¹²And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

¹²Semua pelacur yang bertugas di tempat-tempat penyembahan dewa disingkirkannya, dan semua berhala yang didirikan oleh raja-raja yang memerintah sebelum dia dihapuskannya dari seluruh negeri.

¹³And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.

¹³Neneknya, Maakha, dipecatnya dari kedudukannya sebagai Ibu suri, sebab ia telah membuat patung berhala yang cabul untuk Asyera, dewi kesuburan. Asa merobohkan berhala itu dan membakarnya di Lembah Kidron.

¹⁴But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.

¹⁴Meskipun tidak semua tempat penyembahan berhala dihancurkan oleh Asa, namun ia tetap setia kepada TUHAN sepanjang hidupnya.

¹⁵And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of the LORD, silver, and gold, and vessels.

¹⁵Semua emas dan perak yang telah dipersembahkan ayahnya kepada TUHAN, dibawanya ke Rumah TUHAN, begitu juga emas dan perak, persembahannya sendiri.

¹⁶And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

¹⁶Semasa pemerintahan Raja Asa dari Yehuda dan Raja Baesa dari Israel selalu ada perang antara kedua raja itu.

¹⁷And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

¹⁷Baesa menyerang Yehuda dan memperkuat kota Rama untuk menutup jalan keluar masuk Yehuda.

¹⁸Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Benhadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

¹⁸Karena itu Raja Asa mengambil semua emas dan perak yang masih ada di Rumah TUHAN dan istana raja lalu mengirimnya ke Damsyik kepada Benhadad raja Siria, anak Tabrimon, yaitu cucu Hezion. Barang-barang itu dikirim dengan perantaraan beberapa pejabat istana, disertai pesan berikut ini,

¹⁹There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

¹⁹"Marilah kita mengikat persahabatan seperti yang sudah dilakukan oleh orang tua kita. Bersama ini saya mengirim emas dan perak sebagai hadiah, dan mengajak tuan memutuskan hubungan dengan Baesa raja Israel, supaya ia menarik kembali pasukannya dari wilayah saya."

²⁰So Benhadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abelbethmaachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

²⁰Benhadad setuju dengan tawaran itu lalu menyuruh perwira-perwiranya bersama pasukan mereka menyerang kota-kota Israel. Mereka mengalahkan Iyon, Dan, Abel-Bet-Maakha dan Kinerot di dekat Danau Galilea serta seluruh wilayah Naftali.

²¹And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

²¹Ketika Baesa mendengar hal itu, ia berhenti memperkuat Rama. Ia pergi ke Tirza dan untuk sementara waktu tidak berperang.

²²Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

²²Setelah itu, semua orang di seluruh Yehuda tanpa kecuali diperintahkan oleh Raja Asa untuk mengangkut batu dan kayu yang dipakai Baesa di Rama untuk memperkuat kota itu. Bahan-bahan itu dipakai Asa untuk memperkuat kota Mizpa dan Geba, sebuah kota di wilayah Benyamin.

²³The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

²³Kisah lainnya mengenai Raja Asa, yaitu kepahlawanannya dan kota-kota yang diperkuatnya, sudah dicatat dalam buku Sejarah Raja-raja Yehuda. Pada masa tuanya Asa menderita penyakit pada kedua kakinya.

²⁴And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.

²⁴Ia meninggal dan dikubur di makam raja-raja di Kota Daud. Yosafat, putranya menjadi raja menggantikan dia.

²⁵And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.

²⁵Pada tahun kedua pemerintahan Raja Asa atas Yehuda, Nadab anak Yerobeam menjadi raja di Israel dan memerintah dua tahun lamanya.

²⁶And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

²⁶Sama seperti ayahnya yang memerintah sebelumnya, ia pun melakukan yang jahat pada pemandangan TUHAN sehingga menyebabkan orang Israel berbuat dosa.

²⁷And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.

²⁷Baesa, anak Ahia, dari suku Isakhar berkomplot melawan Nadab, lalu membunuh dia. Pada waktu itu Nadab dengan pasukannya sedang mengepung kota Gibeton di wilayah Filistin.

²⁸Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.

²⁸Itu terjadi dalam tahun ketiga pemerintahan Raja Asa atas Yehuda. Demikianlah Baesa menjadi raja Israel menggantikan Nadab.

²⁹And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:

²⁹Segera setelah Baesa menjadi raja, ia membunuh seluruh keluarga Yerobeam. Sesuai dengan apa yang telah dikatakan TUHAN melalui hamba-Nya, Nabi Ahia dari Silo, maka seluruh keluarga Yerobeam terbunuh, tidak seorang pun yang luput.

³⁰Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and which he made Israel sin, by his provocation wherewith he provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger.

³⁰Yerobeam berdosa dan menyebabkan orang Israel pun berdosa. Dengan demikian Yerobeam membangkitkan kemarahan TUHAN, Allah yang disembah orang Israel.

³¹Now the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

³¹Kisah lainnya mengenai Nadab sudah dicatat dalam buku Sejarah Raja-raja Israel.

³²And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

³²Selama masa pemerintahan Raja Baesa dari Israel, perang selalu terjadi antara Baesa dan Raja Asa dari Yehuda.

³³In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years.

³³Pada tahun ketiga pemerintahan Raja Asa atas Yehuda, Baesa anak Ahia menjadi raja atas seluruh Israel. Ia memerintah di Tirza dua puluh empat tahun lamanya.

³⁴And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

³⁴Sama seperti Raja Yerobeam yang memerintah sebelumnya, Raja Baesa pun berdosa kepada TUHAN dan menyebabkan orang Israel juga berbuat dosa.
