¹Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!

¹Celakalah kamu yang hidup enak di Sion, dan kamu yang merasa aman di Samaria--kamu hai tokoh-tokoh masyarakat bangsa Israel yang istimewa ini, kamu yang biasanya didatangi rakyat untuk dimintai pertolongan!

²Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?

²Pergilah lihat di Kalne, lalu berjalanlah terus ke kota Hamat yang besar itu, kemudian ke kota Gat di Filistin. Sangkamu kota-kota itu lebih baik dari kerajaan Yehuda dan Israel? Apakah wilayah mereka lebih besar dari wilayahmu?

³Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

³Kamu bersikeras bahwa hari malapetaka masih jauh, tapi perbuatan-perbuatanm hanya mempercepat tibanya hari kekejaman itu.

⁴That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;

⁴Celakalah kamu yang berbaring di atas ranjang yang mewah-mewah dan berpesta dengan daging sapi dan domba yang muda!

⁵That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David;

⁵Kamu senang menggubah nyanyian, seperti yang dilakukan oleh Daud, dan kamu memainkan lagu-lagu itu dengan kecapi.

⁶That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

⁶Kamu minum anggur dari gelas yang diisi penuh, dan kamu memakai minyak wangi yang terbaik, tapi kamu tidak bersedih hati atas kehancuran Israel.

⁷Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.

⁷Karena itu kamulah yang pertama-tama akan diangkut ke pembuangan. Pesta-pesta dan perjamuan-perjamuanmu akan berakhir.

⁸The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.

⁸Dengan tegas TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa dan Mahatinggi telah memberi peringatan ini, "Aku benci akan keangkuhan umat Israel; Aku tak senang dengan istana-istana mereka yang mewah. Ibukota mereka bersama semua yang ada di dalamnya akan Kuserahkan kepada musuh."

⁹And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.

⁹Apabila masih ada sepuluh orang yang bersembunyi di dalam sebuah rumah, mereka akan mati juga.

¹⁰And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD.

¹⁰Seorang anggota keluarga yang bertugas mengurus penguburannya, akan datang dan membawa keluar jenazah kerabatnya. Ia akan berseru kepada orang yang berada di bagian belakang rumah itu, "Apakah masih ada yang hidup selain engkau?" Maka akan terdengar jawaban, "Tidak!" Anggota keluarga yang bertugas menguburkan jenazah itu akan berkata, "Jangan bicara lagi! Kita tak boleh menyebut nama TUHAN."

¹¹For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.

¹¹Apabila TUHAN memberi perintah, rumah-rumah besar kecil akan dihancurkan.

¹²Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:

¹²Dapatkah kuda berlari di bukit batu? Pernahkah orang membajak laut dengan sapi? Tetapi kamu telah memutarbalikkan keadilan menjadi racun yang mematikan, dan yang benar menjadi yang salah.

¹³Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?

¹³Kamu membual bahwa kamu telah mengalahkan Lodebar. Kamu juga berkata, "Kami cukup kuat untuk merebut Karnaim."

¹⁴But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.

¹⁴TUHAN Yang Mahatinggi dan Mahakuasa sendiri berkata, "Umat Israel, Aku akan mengirim tentara dari suatu bangsa asing untuk menyerang negerimu. Mereka akan menindas kamu dari jalan ke Hamat di utara sampai ke Lembah Araba di selatan."
