¹The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

¹TUHAN berbicara kepadaku mengenai semua orang Israel yang tinggal di Mesir, yaitu di kota Migdol, Tahpanhes, Memfis, dan di daerah selatan.

²Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,

²Inilah pesan TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Allah Israel, kepada mereka, "Kamu sendiri telah menyaksikan bencana yang Kutimpakan ke atas Yerusalem dan semua kota lain di Yehuda. Sampai sekarang pun kota-kota itu masih dalam keadaan hancur tanpa penghuni.

³Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.

³Hal itu terjadi karena penduduknya berdosa, sehingga membuat Aku marah. Mereka mempersembahkan kurban dan berbakti kepada dewa-dewa yang belum pernah disembah oleh mereka sendiri, oleh kamu atau leluhurmu.

⁴Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.

⁴Aku terus-menerus mengirim kepadamu hamba-hamba-Ku para nabi, yang melarang mereka melakukan kejahatan yang Kubenci itu.

⁵But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.

⁵Tapi kamu tidak mau mendengar dan tidak mau memperhatikan. Kamu tidak mau berhenti melakukan yang jahat, yaitu mempersembahkan kurban kepada dewa-dewa.

⁶Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.

⁶Itu sebabnya Aku menumpahkan kemarahan dan murka-Ku ke atas kota-kota Yehuda dan jalan-jalan di Yerusalem. Semuanya Kubakar sehingga menjadi puing-puing dan tandus seperti yang dapat dilihat sekarang ini.

⁷Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;

⁷Dan kini Aku, TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Allah Israel, bertanya mengapa kamu melakukan hal yang mendatangkan celaka yang besar itu terhadap dirimu. Apakah kamu mau membinasakan semua orang--pria, wanita, anak-anak, dan bayi--sehingga tak seorang pun dari bangsamu yang tertinggal?

⁸In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

⁸Mengapa kamu melakukan hal-hal yang membuat Aku marah? Kamu datang dan tinggal di Mesir, negeri yang asing bagimu itu, lalu kamu menyembah berhala dan mempersembahkan kurban kepada dewa-dewa negeri itu! Apakah kamu mau menghancurkan dirimu sendiri supaya kamu dihina oleh segala bangsa di dunia dan namamu dipakai sebagai kutukan?

⁹Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

⁹Sudah lupakah kamu akan semua kejahatan yang dilakukan di tanah Yehuda dan di jalan-jalan kota Yerusalem oleh leluhurmu, oleh raja-raja Yehuda dan istri-istri mereka, serta kamu dan istri-istrimu?

¹⁰They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.

¹⁰Tapi sampai pada hari ini kamu tidak merendahkan diri. Kamu tidak menghormati Aku dan tidak hidup menurut hukum yang Kuberikan kepadamu dan kepada leluhurmu.

¹¹Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.

¹¹Sebab itu, Aku, TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Allah Israel, akan melawan kamu dan menghancurkan seluruh Yehuda.

¹²And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.

¹²Dan jika dari orang Yehuda yang tersisa ada yang tetap ingin ke Mesir untuk tinggal di sana, mereka akan binasa semua. Mereka semua, besar kecil, akan mati di Mesir dalam peperangan atau karena kelaparan. Orang akan merasa ngeri melihat mereka dan akan menghina mereka. Nama mereka akan dipakai sebagai kutukan.

¹³For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

¹³Seperti Aku menghukum Yerusalem, begitu juga akan Kuhukum mereka yang tinggal di Mesir. Mereka akan mati dalam peperangan, karena kelaparan atau wabah penyakit.

¹⁴So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.

¹⁴Dari orang Yehuda yang tersisa, yang telah pergi ke Mesir untuk tinggal di sana, tak seorang pun akan luput atau hidup. Tak seorang pun dari mereka akan kembali ke Yehuda, meskipun hal itu sangat mereka inginkan. Sungguh, tidak ada yang akan kembali kecuali beberapa pengungsi."

¹⁵Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

¹⁵Lalu datanglah banyak sekali orang kepadaku, yaitu semua laki-laki yang tahu bahwa istrinya mempersembahkan kurban kepada dewa, dan semua wanita yang sedang berdiri di situ, termasuk orang Israel yang tinggal di Patros, bagian selatan Mesir. Mereka berkata kepadaku,

¹⁶As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.

¹⁶"Kami tidak mau mendengar apa yang kaukatakan kepada kami atas nama TUHAN.

¹⁷But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

¹⁷Segala yang telah kami janjikan, akan kami lakukan juga. Kami akan tetap mempersembahkan kurban kepada Ratu Surga, dan menuang air anggur sebagai persembahan kepadanya seperti yang biasanya dilakukan di kota-kota Yehuda dan di jalan-jalan di Yerusalem oleh leluhur kami, oleh raja-raja dan pejabat-pejabat pemerintah kami serta kami sendiri. Pada waktu itu kami mempunyai cukup makanan, kami makmur, dan tidak mempunyai kesukaran apa-apa.

¹⁸But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

¹⁸Tapi sejak kami berhenti mempersembahkan kurban kepada Ratu Surga, dan tidak lagi menuang anggur sebagai persembahan kepadanya, kami kekurangan segala-galanya; orang-orang kami mati dalam peperangan atau karena kelaparan."

¹⁹And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

¹⁹Kemudian wanita-wanita itu berkata, "Suami kami setuju bahwa kami membuat roti berbentuk Ratu Surga dan membakar kurban serta mempersembahkan anggur untuk dewa kami itu."

²⁰Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,

²⁰Kepada semua pria dan wanita yang menjawab begitu, aku berkata,

²¹The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?

²¹"Apakah kamu menyangka TUHAN tidak mengetahui atau sudah melupakan kurban-kurban yang dipersembahkan di kota-kota Yehuda dan di jalan-jalan di Yerusalem oleh leluhurmu, oleh raja-raja dan pejabat-pejabatmu, serta rakyat negeri ini dan oleh kamu sendiri?

²²So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

²²TUHAN tidak tahan lagi melihat kamu mempersembahkan kurban kepada ilah-ilah lain. Perbuatanmu itu jahat dan hina. Kamu telah berdosa kepada TUHAN dan tidak taat kepada perintah-perintah-Nya. Sebab itu sekarang ini juga negerimu sudah hancur sehingga tak dapat ditempati lagi, dan namanya dipakai sebagai kutukan. Orang yang melihatnya merasa ngeri."

²³Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.

²³(44:22)

²⁴Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:

²⁴Lalu aku memberitahukan kepada semua orang itu, terutama kepada para wanitanya, bahwa TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa berkata begini kepada orang-orang Yehuda yang tinggal di Mesir, "Kamu dan istri-istrimu sudah bersumpah kepada Ratu Surga bahwa kamu akan membakar kurban dan mempersembahkan air anggur kepadanya. Janjimu itu sudah kamu tepati. Jadi, baiklah! Lakukan saja apa yang kamu janjikan itu!

²⁵Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.

²⁵(44:24)

²⁶Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.

²⁶Tetapi sekarang dengarkan apa yang Kukatakan kepadamu, hai orang Israel di Mesir: Aku, TUHAN, bersumpah demi nama-Ku yang agung bahwa kamu tidak lagi Kuizinkan memakai nama-Ku untuk membuat sesuatu janji. Kamu tidak boleh berkata, 'Aku bersumpah demi Allah yang hidup!'

²⁷Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.

²⁷Aku akan berusaha supaya kamu celaka dan tidak bahagia, sampai kamu mati semua, baik dalam peperangan maupun karena wabah penyakit.

²⁸Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or their's.

²⁸Hanya beberapa orang saja yang akan selamat dan kembali ke Yehuda dari Mesir. Maka semua orang Yehuda yang ada di Mesir akan melihat apakah perkataan mereka ataukah perkataan-Ku yang menjadi kenyataan.

²⁹And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:

²⁹Aku akan mendatangkan celaka ke atasmu di tempat ini untuk membuktikan kepadamu bahwa hukuman yang Kurencanakan untuk kamu, sungguh-sungguh akan terjadi.

³⁰Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaohhophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.

³⁰Hofra raja Mesir akan Kuserahkan kepada musuh-musuh yang ingin membunuhnya, sama seperti Aku menyerahkan Zedekia raja Yehuda kepada Nebukadnezar raja Babel, musuhnya yang mau membunuhnya itu."
