¹At that time, saith the LORD, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves:

¹Pada masa itu tulang-tulang raja-raja dan pejabat-pejabat pemerintahan di Yehuda, juga tulang-tulang para imam, nabi, dan penduduk Yerusalem lainnya akan dikeluarkan dari kuburan mereka,

²And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.

²bukan untuk dikumpulkan dan dikuburkan lagi, melainkan dibiarkan di tanah sebagai sampah. Tulang-tulang orang-orang itu akan terserak di depan matahari, bulan dan bintang-bintang yang mereka dewakan, cintai, layani, sembah, dan mintai petunjuk.

³And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.

³Maka orang-orang yang masih hidup dari bangsa yang jahat ini yang telah Kuceraiberaikan ke mana-mana akan lebih suka mati daripada hidup. Aku, TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, telah berbicara."

⁴Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return?

⁴TUHAN menyuruh aku mengatakan begini kepada umat-Nya, "Kalau orang jatuh, tentu ia akan bangun lagi, dan kalau orang sesat di jalan, tentu ia akan kembali.

⁵Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

⁵Tapi mengapa kamu, umat-Ku, terus-menerus menyeleweng dan meninggalkan Aku? Kamu berpegang teguh kepada berhalamu, dan tak mau kembali kepada-Ku!

⁶I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.

⁶Aku telah mendengarkan baik-baik, tapi kamu tidak berbicara sebagaimana mestinya. Tidak seorang pun dari kamu menyesali perbuatannya yang jahat. Tak ada yang berkata, 'Apa kesalahanku?' Kamu semua mengikuti jalanmu sendiri seperti kuda menyerbu ke dalam pertempuran.

⁷Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.

⁷Burung bangau pun tahu waktunya untuk kembali; tekukur, burung layang-layang dan murai juga tahu masanya untuk berpindah tempat. Tetapi kamu, umat-Ku, tidak mengenal hukum-hukum yang Kuberikan kepadamu.

⁸How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.

⁸Berani benar kamu berkata bahwa kamu bijaksana, dan tahu hukum-hukum-Ku! Coba lihat bagaimana hukum-hukum-Ku itu diubah oleh ahli-ahli agama yang curang!

⁹The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?

⁹Para cerdik pandai di tengah-tengahmu akan dipermalukan. Mereka akan hilang akal dan terjebak. Mereka tidak mau menerima nasihat-Ku; sekarang, kebijaksanaan apakah yang masih ada pada mereka?

¹⁰Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

¹⁰Karena itu Aku akan memberikan ladang mereka kepada tuan tanah lain, dan istri mereka kepada orang lain. Mereka semua, besar kecil, mencari keuntungan dengan jalan yang tidak jujur. Bahkan nabi dan imam pun menipu orang.

¹¹For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

¹¹Luka-luka umat-Ku mereka anggap luka kecil saja. 'Ah, tidak apa-apa,' kata mereka, 'semua baik dan aman.' Padahal sama sekali tidak.

¹²Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

¹²Hai umat-Ku, seharusnya kamu malu karena telah melakukan semua yang hina itu! Tetapi kamu tebal muka dan tidak tahu malu. Karena itu kamu akan jatuh seperti orang lain yang telah jatuh; habislah riwayatmu apabila Aku menghukum kamu.

¹³I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.

¹³Ingin sekali Aku mengumpulkan umat-Ku seperti orang mengumpulkan hasil tanahnya. Tetapi, umat-Ku seperti pohon anggur dan pohon ara yang tidak berbuah, bahkan daun-daunnya pun sudah layu. Itu sebabnya Aku telah mengizinkan orang asing datang dan menguasai negeri mereka. Aku, TUHAN, telah berbicara."

¹⁴Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

¹⁴"Mengapa kita tidak berbuat apa-apa?" kata umat Allah. "Mari kita bersama-sama mengungsi ke kota-kota berbenteng, biar kita mati di sana. TUHAN Allah kita sudah memutuskan bahwa kita harus binasa. Ia sudah memberikan kepada kita racun untuk diminum sebab kita berdosa kepada-Nya.

¹⁵We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble!

¹⁵Percuma saja kita mengharapkan kedamaian dan masa penyembuhan, sebab yang ada hanyalah kekerasan.

¹⁶The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.

¹⁶Musuh telah berada di kota Dan; ringkikan kuda mereka sudah terdengar, dan seluruh negeri menjadi takut. Musuh datang untuk menghancurkan seluruh negeri kita, juga kota kita dan semua penduduknya."

¹⁷For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the LORD.

¹⁷"Perhatikan!" kata TUHAN. "Sekarang Aku mengirim ular-ular ke tengah-tengahmu untuk memagut kamu, ular berbisa yang tak dapat kena mantra."

¹⁸When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me.

¹⁸Hatiku tersayat dan pedih, nestapaku tak terobati.

¹⁹Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities?

¹⁹Dengar! Di seluruh negeri menggema jerit tangis bangsaku yang bertanya, "Tiadakah TUHAN di Sion lagi? Di manakah rajanya kini?" Jawab TUHAN, raja mereka, "Mengapa kausujud kepada dewa-dewa yang sama sekali tak berguna? Mengapa kausakiti hati-Ku dengan menyembah berhala-berhala?"

²⁰The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

²⁰Umat Israel berseru, "Musim menuai dan musim kemarau kini sudah lewat, tapi kita belum juga selamat."

²¹For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me.

²¹Hatiku remuk karena bangsaku sakit parah; aku berkabung dan gelisah.

²²Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

²²Apa gerangan yang menyebabkan sehingga bangsaku sampai sekarang belum juga sembuh? Apakah di seluruh Gilead, tak ada dokter atau obat?
