¹Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

¹Dari dalam perut ikan itu, Yunus berdoa kepada TUHAN Allahnya. Katanya,

²And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

²"Ya TUHAN, dalam kesusahanku aku berseru kepada-Mu dan Engkau menjawab aku. Dari dunia orang mati aku mohon pertolongan, permohonanku Kaudengar dan Kauperhatikan.

³For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

³Ke tempat yang dalam aku Kaulemparkan, sampai ke dasar lautan. Di sana arus air mengelilingi aku, ombak dan gelombang menghempaskan aku.

⁴Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

⁴Dalam hatiku aku berkata: TUHAN sudah mengusir aku ini dari hadapan-Nya. Tak akan aku melihat lagi rumah kediaman-Nya yang suci.

⁵The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

⁵Air laut naik sampai ke bibirku, samudra raya meliputi seluruh tubuhku, ganggang laut membelit kepalaku.

⁶I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

⁶Aku terjun sampai ke dasar pegunungan, ke alam yang gerbangnya terkunci hingga akhir zaman. Nyawaku letih lesu di dalam diriku, lalu aku ingat dan berseru kepada-Mu. Maka sampailah doaku kepada-Mu, ke dalam Rumah-Mu yang kudus. Lalu Kaunaikkan aku dari dalam laut, ya TUHAN Allahku!

⁷When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

⁷(2:6)

⁸They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

⁸Para penyembah berhala yang sia-sia, meninggalkan Engkau dan tak lagi setia.

⁹But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

⁹Tetapi aku akan nyanyikan puji-pujian bagi-Mu dan kupersembahkan kurban untuk-Mu. Segala janjiku akan kulakukan. Engkaulah TUHAN yang menyelamatkan."

¹⁰And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

¹⁰Kemudian, atas perintah TUHAN, ikan itu memuntahkan Yunus ke daratan.
