¹There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph; to wit, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.

¹Sebagian daerah di sebelah barat Sungai Yordan diberikan kepada sebagian keluarga-keluarga keturunan Manasye, anak sulung Yusuf. Makhir, ayah Gilead, adalah anak sulung Manasye. Karena ia seorang pejuang, maka daerah Gilead dan Basan yang terletak di sebelah timur Sungai Yordan diberikan kepadanya.

²There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families.

²Daerah sebelah barat Sungai Yordan diberikan kepada keluarga-keluarga lainnya dari keturunan Manasye, yaitu keluarga: Abiezer, Helek, Asriel, Sekhem, Hefer dan Semida; semuanya itu keturunan laki-laki dari Manasye anak Yusuf. Mereka adalah kepala-kepala keluarga.

³But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

³Zelafehad, anak Hefer, cucu Gilead (Gilead adalah anak Makhir, cucu Manasye), tidak mempunyai anak laki-laki, hanya anak perempuan, yaitu: Makhla, Noa, Hogla, Milka, Tirza.

⁴And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

⁴Mereka pergi kepada Imam Eleazar, Yosua anak Nun serta para pemimpin, dan berkata, "TUHAN mengatakan kepada Musa bahwa kami juga harus sama-sama mendapat tanah seperti saudara-saudara kami yang laki-laki." Karena itu, sesuai dengan perintah TUHAN, anak-anak perempuan Zelafehad itu diberikan tanah bersama-sama dengan saudara-saudara mereka yang laki-laki.

⁵And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, beside the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side Jordan;

⁵Jadi, bukan hanya keturunan laki-laki dari Manasye yang mendapat bagian tanah, tetapi juga keturunannya yang perempuan. Itu sebabnya mengapa suku Manasye diberi sepuluh bagian, selain tanah Gilead dan Basan di sebelah timur Sungai Yordan. Tanah Gilead diberikan kepada keturunan Manasye yang lain.

⁶Because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh's sons had the land of Gilead.

⁷And the coast of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, that lieth before Shechem; and the border went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of Entappuah.

⁷Garis-garis batas wilayah suku Manasye mulai dari Asyer ke Mikhmetat di sebelah timur Sikhem. Dari situ garis itu turun ke selatan sampai ke daerah kaum En-Tapuah.

⁸Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;

⁸Daerah Tapuah adalah kepunyaan suku Manasye, tetapi kota Tapuah, di perbatasan, adalah milik keturunan Efraim.

⁹And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:

⁹Selanjutnya garis batas wilayah Manasye itu turun sampai ke anak Sungai Kana. Kota-kota di sebelah selatan anak sungai itu adalah kepunyaan Efraim, meskipun berada di dalam wilayah Manasye. Garis batas wilayah Manasye itu selanjutnya mengikuti jalan ke sebelah utara anak sungai itu, lalu berakhir di Laut Tengah.

¹⁰Southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manasseh's, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.

¹⁰Demikianlah Efraim berada di sebelah selatan, dan Manasye di sebelah utara, dan Laut Tengah adalah perbatasan mereka sebelah barat. Di barat laut, wilayah suku Manasye itu berbatasan dengan wilayah Asyer, dan di sebelah timur laut, berbatasan dengan wilayah Isakhar.

¹¹And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Bethshean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries.

¹¹Di dalam wilayah Isakhar dan Asyer itu ada tanah-tanah milik Manasye, yaitu: Bet-Sean dan Yibleam dengan desa-desa di sekitarnya. Juga: Dor (kota yang terletak di pinggir laut), En-Dor, Taanakh, Megido dengan desa-desa di sekitarnya.

¹²Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

¹²Tetapi suku Manasye tidak dapat mengusir penduduk kota-kota itu; itu sebabnya orang Kanaan masih tetap tinggal di situ.

¹³Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, but did not utterly drive them out.

¹³Bahkan di kemudian hari setelah orang Israel menjadi lebih kuat, mereka tidak mengusir semua orang Kanaan; mereka hanya memaksa orang-orang itu bekerja untuk mereka.

¹⁴And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?

¹⁴Keturunan Yusuf berkata kepada Yosua, "Mengapa kami diberi hanya satu bagian tanah saja, padahal kami banyak sekali, karena TUHAN sudah memberkati kami?"

¹⁵And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.

¹⁵Yosua menjawab, "Karena kalian terlalu banyak, dan daerah pegunungan Efraim terlalu sempit untuk kalian, pergilah ke daerah orang Feris dan Refaim. Bukalah tempat-tempat baru di hutan-hutan mereka itu."

¹⁶And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

¹⁶Keturunan Yusuf itu menjawab, "Daerah pegunungan itu tidak cukup luas untuk kami, sedangkan bangsa Kanaan yang tinggal di dataran-dataran rendah mempunyai kereta-kereta perang dari besi--baik mereka yang tinggal di Bet-Sean dan desa-desa sekitarnya, maupun mereka yang tinggal di Lembah Yizreel."

¹⁷And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:

¹⁷Maka kata Yosua kepada suku Efraim dan Manasye barat itu, "Benar, kalian banyak sekali serta kuat, dan patut diberi lebih dari satu bagian tanah.

¹⁸But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.

¹⁸Ambillah daerah pegunungan, sebab meskipun daerah itu masih hutan, kalian dapat membuka daerah itu dan memiliki seluruhnya. Dan mengenai orang-orang Kanaan itu, kalian dapat mengusir mereka, sekalipun mereka kuat dan mempunyai kereta-kereta perang dari besi."
